Opry Goes Pink Announces Additional Performers

On Tuesday, October 30th, the Fourth Annual Opry Goes Pink event will take place. Kellie Pickler (a country artist who has already made a huge impact this year, shaving her head in honor of her friend who was going through chemotherapy to fight her battle with Breast Cancer) will flip the switch on the Opry’s barn backdrop, turning it pink for the night. The show will also include performances by The Farm, Mindy Smith, The Isaacs, Kristen Kelly, Jimmy Dickens, Sarah Darling and others. There will also be activities recognizing breast cancer survivors and the continuing fight against the disease. Five dollars from every ticket sold will be donated to Women Rock For The Cure. Women Rock For The Cure Announces Young Survivors Retreat

Women Rock For The Cure (WRFTC) has announced the 2^nd annual Young Survivors Retreat, which will take place September 21-23 at Deer Run Retreat Center located just outside of Nashville. The retreat aims to connect young survivors and those who are fighting breast cancer in the various stages of their journey.

Five percent of all breast cancer patients in the U.S. each year are women under 40, making a diagnosis especially shocking to these young women. While many of them are just starting their adult lives, they are suddenly faced with having to fight this awful disease as well. WRFTC came up with the idea for the Young Survivors Retreat as a way for these young women to connect and share their different experiences with people who can relate to their situation. WRFTC CEO Jensen (Sussman) Arrowsmith shares about her personal experience:

Going through breast cancer as a young woman brings physical and emotional challenges that still seem unimaginable to me even after facing it head on. There is something inexplicably comforting and powerful in having a sisterhood of peers dealing with the same struggle that makes a huge difference in the healing process.

Attendees to the Young Survivors Retreat will enjoy a serene environment in which to share their stories and discuss age-related challenges. Activities at The Retreat will include sessions on art, relaxation, nutrition, fertility, relationships, and beauty tips.

WRFTC raises funds for The Retreat throughout the year through two signature events – Opry Goes Pink and Pink Trash Ball. Thanks to the success of both of the events and the many generous supporters, WRFTC is able to cover ALL travel expenses to and from Nashville for attendees. The Retreat is open to women aged 18-40 who are currently undergoing treatment or are survivors of breast cancer.

Martina McBride Will Turn the Grand Old Opry Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

On October 22nd, the Grand Old Opry is joining Women Rock For The Cure in the fight against breast cancer by hosting its 3rd annual “Opry Goes Pink” event. Country music superstar and Opry member, Martina McBride, will headline the show and flip the switch on the Opry’s barn backdrop turning it pink for the night. Opry.com will also go pink for the day.

McBride’s current single, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It”, is very fitting for the cause. The song is one of hope and inspiration to those who have fought or are battling cancer, and their loved ones.

Other artists taking the stage for the special event include: Kellie Pickler, Lauren Alaina, Edens Edge, and Ronnie Milsap.

Tickets can be purchased on the Grand Ole Opry website. $5 from every ticket will be donated to Women Rock For The Cure. The show starts at 7 p.m.

In addition, Opry.com will be hosting an online auction starting October 18th. All proceeds will also benefit Women Rock For The Cure.
