Wilma Lee Cooper, a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1957, passed away Tuesday from natural causes at her home in Tennessee. Her last solo performance at the Opry was in 2001, however, she was part of the group on-stage for the re-opening last year. She was 90 years old.

Wilma was best known for performing with her late husband Stoney Cooper. The couple saw success with singles such as “The Legend Of The Dogwood Tree,” “Little Rosewood Casket,” “Sunny Side Of The Mountain,” and, “Philadelphia Lawyer.” Stoney passed away in 1977, and Wilma continued performing in a new group The Clinch Mountain Clan.

She was forced to stop performing in 2001 after a stroke. She is survived by her daughter Carol Lee Cooper, granddaughters Vanessa Brusseau and Shannon Rogers. As for her wishes there will be no memorial service planned.
