In today’s music, it is common to hear a remix of some of your favorite songs; even heartfelt power ballads have turned into dance hits with the help of some of music’s most talented DJs. And just when you thought DJ’ing couldn’t become anymore unique, enter Dee Jay Silver, the first DJ to be signed to a major Nashville record label. Dee Jay has played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but has ultimately found his home in Nashville. Whether he is touring with Jason Aldean and playing in sold out stadiums, performing on the American Country Awards, or remixing the work of some of country’s best known artists, Dee Jay is bringing his talents to the fans of country music in a myriad of ways. Dee Jay took some time out of his day of “bad television” while he recovered from the ACAs in Las Vegas to talk with me about his music, his favorite tour stop to date, and his future plans (which included getting back to Nashville stat!).

As we previously reported here on Keepin’ it Country, country superstar, and Oklahoma native, Toby Keith has been busy organizing a tornado relief concert. His charity concert, which will be held on July 6th at Memorial Stadium at the University of Oklahoma, will raise money for victims of the May 20th deadly tornadoes. Tickets will be $25 each and will go on-sale on Friday, June 21st, with proceeds benefiting the United Way of Central Oklahoma.
About the concert and the devastation in his home town of Moore, Toby said:
“I grew up in Moore, I live in Norman and I’ve got lots of family and friends who were directly affected.”I know these folks and they’re resilient, but we’re going to keep helping them any way we can. I’m proud to get together with some others from around here who are just as committed as I am to supporting these communities.”
We are also running a special event in support of the United Way of Central Oklahoma. Keep checking out Keepin’ it Country for our online auctions.

Keith Urban‘s “We’re All For The Hall” benefit concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will return for the fourth consecutive year.
The show, which will feature an all-star lineup, will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on April 16th, 2013. Some of the invited artists include Keith, Vince Gill, Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Rosanne Cash, Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, Kid Rock, Kris Kristofferson, Loretta Lynn, Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver and Hank Williams, Jr.
This year’s theme will be “Rebels and Renegades, the Outlaws are IN”. The past three benefit concerts have raised a collective $1.5 million, which is directed toward the Museum’s operating expenses, caring for the collection, exhibitions, programs, and more.
Museum board president Vince Gill created All for the Hall, an artist-led fundraising initiative for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Funds raised from the concert also go toward preservation efforts, exhibitions and educational programs about the culture and value of country music.
“The purity in making music on your own terms – to create art in your own way – for me, is at the heart of the outlaw spirit,” said Urban. “It’s those outlaws that we celebrate this year, who not only made it possible for a guy like me to do what I love, but who play a pivotal role in the strength of Country music’s diversity.”
Tickets will go on sale on March1st at 10AM CST. For ticket and VIP package information, visit Ticketmaster.com.
Fans who were looking forward to Willie Nelson and Jamey Johnson‘s “Railroad Revival Tour” are going to be pretty disappointed this week. According to the tour’s website, the tour has been completley cancelled and all fans will receive refunds on their credit cards by October 21st. The site quotes “complications would not permit us to host the shows in the manner intended” as the reason for the cancellation.
The tour was scheduled to kick off on October 20th, with several stops in cities from California to Georgia. Willie and Jamey were to be joined by several different acts throughout the tour. No other information on reason for cancellation has been provided at this time. Were you planning on attending?
The one and only country legend Willie Nelson recently sat down with Yahoo! Ram Country on his tour bus during a stop in New Haven, Connecticut. In this exclusive interview with Ram Country, the music icon reflects on collaborating with Snoop Dogg for his latest album (who would have ever thought that would have happened?), his ‘outlaw’ years with Waylon Jennings, his musical legacy and more.

You may recall Kenny Chesney‘s hit, “You and Tequila.” You may also recall that female vocals that provided some depth and beauty to the track. That female vocalist is Grace Potter, and the musical bond she and Chesney created continues on as the two joined forces again; this time to create tracks for Potter’s album.
With his longtime co-producer Buddy Cannon, Chesney produced “Stars” and “Ragged Company” on the deluxe version of Potter’s ”The Lion The Beast The Beat” album which was released this week. Chesney first heard “Stars” in February. “We were hanging out in her kitchen and she grabbed her guitar and played me a verse and chorus of the song which she was still writing,” recalls Chesney. “I love the creative process. I was there when the song was born and we nurtured it through the studio and onto the record. That’s pretty cool.” Chesney and Alison Krauss also provide background vocals on the song.
“Ragged Company” first appeared on Potter’s 2006 debut album and they reprised the song with guest vocalist Willie Nelson. Chesney’s ”Welcome To The Fishbowl” album will be released next week and features Grace Potter on the song “El Cerrito Place.”
