Jana Kramer may be somewhat of a newcomer to country music, but she is certainly taking the charts by storm. Her self-titled debut album, released on June 5, has made an impressive debut at Number 5 on the SoundScan Top Country Album Charts. It also premiered as the second selling digital country release, just behind country mega-star, Alan Jackson.
Jana Kramer is currently supporting Brad Paisley‘s Virtual Reality Tour, performing on the Virtual Opry stage prior to the main show. She was named one of “Summer’s Hottest Artists” by People Country Magazine and one of the “Season’s Biggest New Names” by Billboard.
The album, produced by Scott Hendricks, has received rave reviews, and her first single “Why Ya Wanna” is currently sitting at number 17 on the country charts.

Jana Kramer, former actress on The CW’s “One Tree Hill,” transitioned from acting to singing without a hitch. After Jana decided to pursue her music career and bid farewell to her role as Alex Dupre on The CW’s longest running series, she says people were skeptical. However, Jana’s success in country music turned those skeptics to supporters almost immediately.
Jana’s first single “Why Ya Wanna?” was the most-added song of a debut artist since the inception of the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart. “Why Ya Wanna?” also reached the Top 20 on the charts, further validating the actress-turned-artist’s career path decision. As if a Top 20 hit wasn’t enough validation, Jana’s self-titled debut album hit Number 1 on iTunes the week of its release. It is clear that Jana has been welcomed by peers and fans throughout the genre.
Jana Kramer has received a very warm welcome from country radio!
The country singer and One Tree Hill star broke a radio record this week with the release of her official debut single, “Why Ya Wanna.” The song was added to more than 55 radio stations, setting the record for most adds for a debut artist since Mediabase launched its Country Aircheck chart in 2006. Kramer not only set a new record, she nearly tripled the number of radio adds for a debut female artist.
Kramer was very excited about the big news: “I have to thank country radio for believing in me. I’m beyond humbled and excited for this amazing start to my music career.”
“Why Ya Wanna” is currently available on iTunes, and will be included on her upcoming album to be released later this year on Elektra Nashville.
While the track marks Kramer’s first official radio single, she has sold almost 200,000 downloads of her digital single releases.
What a way to officially join the country music scene! Congratulations to Jana! We look forward to following what we are sure will be a great music career.
