REVIEW: Danielle Bradbery’s Self-Titled Debut Album

Danielle Bradbery Album

Exactly eight months ago today, a sweet, Texas-born and raised sixteen-year-old named Danielle Bradbery performed Taylor Swift‘s “Mean” on NBC’s The Voice. Fast forward three months and Danielle Bradbery was a household name as Season Four’s champion from Team Blake, coached by country megastar, Blake Shelton. Danielle’s self-titled debut album with record label Big Machine Records hit stores and iTunes today, and fans will not be disappointed in the project they have been anticipating since Danielle was declared “The Voice.”

Danielle’s album — a fifteen-track disc with four popular covers, two previously recorded songs, and nine originals — offers fans a little bit of everything from the youngest winner of The Voice and Team Blake protege. Fans are already familiar with tracks 12-15, all songs performed by Danielle on live television during the competition. “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Born To Fly,” “Maybe It Was Memphis,” and “Who I Am” are some of Danielle’s fans’ favorite covers from The Voice, and are a throwback to Danielle’s music industry roots and a way to pay homage to where she came from.

Country stars react to Mindy McCready’s suicide

Mindy McCready.

It’s been a tragic twenty-four hours for the country music community after learning about the passing of singer Mindy McCready. The “Ten Thousand Angels” artist was found dead from an apparent suicide last night in Arkansas. Mindy was 37 years old and leaves behind a six year old and a nine-year old son.

See what some of country’s brightest stars had to share about the sad news:

Oak Ridge Boys: We sang “Farther Along” last night in honor of Mindy McCready. One day we will know!!!!!

John Rich: Very sad to hear about Mindy McCready. When I was in Lonestar she was our label mate and we were friends. A tragic end to a talented life.

Jana Kramer: So sad to hear about the loss of Mindy. What an insanely talented woman.

Michelle Wright: As you may know Mindy McCready has passed on. She was a young promising country music artist in the mid ’90′s but faced a number of challenges and I’m so sad that she lost the battle with addiction and mental illness which can also cause depression. I’ve been sober now for several years and I know how hard it can be sometimes. RIP Mindy.

Jimmy Wayne: RIP @mindymccready We met 14 years ago @ Acuff & Rose. Who’d thought 14 years later on this day…. #why

Jason Blaine: Sad to hear about the passing of Mindy McCready. Thoughts & prayers for her young children. Tragic situation.

Carrie Underwood: I grew up listening to Mindy McCready… so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them…

Video Picks Of The Week: January 22, 2012

Keith Urban

Hello my country music friends…

It’s time again for our “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

Many of you probably know Whitney Duncan from Nashville Star Season 5 (2007). Duncan was signed to Warner Bros. Nashville after finishing fifth on the show. I actually randomly stumbled upon her music a couple of years ago, and I enjoyed it so much that it made me seek out more of her work. This week’s music video is her debut single “When I Said I Would” from her first major label release, Right Road Now. I think the whole album is great, and Whitney has a voice and sound completely fitted for country music. If you have not already, definitely check out her songs on iTunes.

Check out the live performance and cover song video picks after the jump….

Whitney Duncan Eliminated From Survivor

Whitney Duncan.

Looks like the ride is over for Whitney Duncan‘s journey on CBS’ “Survivor” reality series. She was eliminated off the program without getting the $1 million prize. She didn’t have much of a chance, though, after her former tribe-mate back-stabbed their tribe and switched teams. Her elimination came after her team-mates were picked off one-by-one by the opposing tribe from the merge.

In an exclusive interview with Reality TV World, Whitney admits her secret marriage was doomed to fail when she went into the reality series. She admits being unhappy at home, which made falling in love on the program easier. She says that she doesn’t need to defend herself after all the tabloid reports, and that she wasn’t in a good place in her marriage.

“Well, I’m not, like I said, I’m not here to talk about my private life. That’s very private and I’ve always been so private about my private life, so you know, I’m not going to start talking about it now just because of something that’s come out. I don’t feel the need to defend myself. I was in an unhealthy and unhappy relationship and I never would have thought I would have fallen in love on Survivor. “

Fans can catch Whitney when she performs at the 22nd annual Carols By Candlelight in San Diego, California December 9th and 10th. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Rady Children’s Hospital. Joining Whitney at the event are fellow country singers Clay Walker, Buck Howdy, Mary James, and Eve Selis.

Nashville Will Cut Fooloose Tomorrow Night

Julianne Hough stars in Footloose.

Nashville is about to turn a little more Hollywood tomorrow night. The Nashville premiere of the new “Footloose” movie takes place Thursday night. Stars on the bill to attend include movie star Julianne Hough and sound track stars Big & Rich, Blake Shelton, Hunter Hayes, and a few of their Nashville friends. Other country singers expected to attend include American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina, Kix Brooks, Survivor contestant Whitney Duncan, Martina McBride, and many others.

Country Weekly is reporting that the red carpet will be rolled out in Franklin, Tennessee at a restored movie house. Blake Shelton’s version of the classic “Footloose” theme takes up the end of the movie, while Big & Rich’s “Fake ID” provides a whole scene in the movie, according to CW. Watch the music video for Big & Rich’s “Fake ID” which features Gretchen Wilson, below:

We’ll have your chance to win the sound track to the movie next week thanks to Warner Music Nashville.

Whitney Duncan Is A Survivor

Whitney Duncan

Country artist Whitney Duncan has just been announced as part of the cast for “Survivor.” And I didn’t even know that show was still on. The 23rd season of one of the first reality tv shows airs September 14th on CBS. Whitney will be joined by 15 brand-new cast members and 2 returning contestants on “Survivor: South Pacific.”

CBS has put together an introduction video for Whitney for those who don’t quite know who she is. You can watch the video HERE. Good luck to Whitney and here’s hoping country music can pull another win on reality tv.

Bikers Join Search for Holly Bobo

whitneyduncan

Over 100 local bikers joined forces on the weekend to help the search for Holly Bobo. Bobo, the cousin to country music singer Whitney Duncan, was kidnapped from her home on April 13th in West Tennessee. Friends and family are still searching for the 20 year-old nursing student. She was abducted from her home in Parson, TN.

The Duke of the Tennessee Riders Association hosted the event, which included a live auction, silent auction and a BBQ. Early estimates believe that over$9,000 was raised for the Bobo family’s search efforts.

Bobo is 5 foot 3 with shoulder-length blonde hair. She weighs approximately 110 pounds and was last seen in a pink t-shirt and light blue jeans on the day of her kidnapping. Anyone with any information at all is asked to call (800) 824-3463. If you’ve seen anything suspicious that could be related to the case, please contact the TBI. Even the smallest bit of information is helpful in this case.

There is an $85,000 reward for the tip of her location and the arrest of her abductor.
