Music Video

This week’s music video is Jack Ingram, “Lips Of An Angel.” The song was originally sung and made popular by the rock band, Hinder. Ingram later gave the song his own spin and earned himself a country hit with his version. The track served as the lead single off of his album, This is It. 

I have always enjoyed Ingram’s version and it introduced me to his music back in 2006.

Live Performance

Matt Nathanson‘s song “Run” appears on his most recent album, Modern Love. The track features Sugarland with Jennifer Nettles providing the vocals for the duet.

Nathanson is currently on tour opening for Kelly Clarkson on the Stronger Tour, and is also out on the road for his All Night Noise Tour. For several stops on the Stronger Tour, he brought out singer-songwriter Ashley Arrison to perform the duet. This week’s live video is their performance of “Run” in Grand Prairie, Texas.

I saw Matt on the Stronger Tour back in January. Besides being a great performer and musician, he is also hilarious. He has fantastic stage presence, and he had the audience’s full attention during his set. For tour dates visit: http://www.mattnathanson.com/modernlove/.

Ashley Arrison is not only a super talented singer-songwriter, she also is one of the nicest people. I have been following her career for the last few years, and I met her earlier this year as well. Cover Song

This week’s cover is Mitch Gallagher’s version of Eric Church‘s single, “Springsteen.” Mitch is a country music singer-songwriter who moved to Nashville in 2010 to work on his music career. He released his first iTunes single last fall entitled, “Just Like Heaven,” and the song made its way into the rotation at various radio stations. We are back with our “Video Picks of the Week.”

Music Video

Brantley Gilbert is one of my new favorites. He’s the perfect mix of country and rock, and I love the tone of his voice and overall vibe.

Brantley was signed to Valory Music Group in 2011, and you definitely know him for his songwriting skills as well. Most notably, he has written songs for Jason Aldean and Colt Ford. He was a co-writer on “Dirt Road Anthem” and “My Kinda Party,” both of which were eventual mega-hits for Aldean.

This week’s pick is Brantley’s music video for his single, “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do.” The track is the second single off of his album “Halfway To Heaven.” The album is available on iTunes!

Live Performance

This week’s live video is Casey James performing his song, “Drive,” at 102.5 Bull Lounge last year. The track is from his upcoming self-titled album due out March 20th. Casey recently released a music video for the acoustic version of this song so make sure you check that one out as well.

When I listen to Casey, one word comes to mind… talent. I am a huge fan of Casey’s voice and you cannot deny his amazing guitar skills. I think he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the country music scene, and we will be following his career for a long time. I can’t wait to hear his album!

Cover Song

This week’s cover video is Dia Frampton performing Zac Brown Band‘s, “Colder Weather. ” As you know, Dia represented Team Blake and finished second on Season One of The Voice. Dia has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard. We love her here at Keepin It Country, and we are so happy for her success.

It’s time for our “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

This week’s music video is Lee Ann Womack, “I Hope You Dance.” The song was the lead single from her 2000 album of the same title, and a number one, cross-over mega hit.

One word comes to mind for me with this song… masterpiece. It is one of my favorite songs of all-time and definitely makes my top five. The lyrics and message are amazing, Womack’s voice is beautiful as always, and the video is very sweet.

“I Hope You Dance” is just one of those times in music when everything aligns together and is perfect.

Live Performance

This week’s live performance video is Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson performing Reba’s signature song, Fancy, for CMT Crossroads in 2007. This duet is one of the best live performances I have ever seen. I love when Reba and Kelly sing together. Besides the fact that they are two of my favorites, their unique voices blend so well together and are second to none. Plus, they are both consummate performers with shining personalities. Their Crossroads episode is seriously one of the best ever done. If you have not seen it, check CMT or Palladia for a re-airing of it. Amazing is an understatement. You will not be disappointed.

This week’s cover song comes from unsigned artist, Hayley Stayner. I found Hayley browsing Youtube. She has a lot of country covers that you should check out on her channel. Here she is performing David Nail‘s “Let It Rain.” You can also purchase her EP on iTunes.

We give you our latest “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

This week’s music video is The Wreckers‘ number one hit single, “Leave The Pieces.” I have always been a big Michelle Branch fan so when she formed The Wreckers with Jessica Harp back in 2005, I was excited to check out their music. Their album Stand Still, Look Pretty is still one of my favorite country albums, and is comprised of some really great music. The girls returned to their solo careers after just one record, but the duo is still one of my favorite country groups and I hope to hear more country music from Branch and Harp in the future. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for Branch’s new mainstream album that is slated to drop this year.

Live Performance

This week’s live pick is Chuck Wicks‘ beautiful acoustic performance of his song, “All I Ever Wanted” on Music Business Radio with Monty Powell. The track was the second single off of Wicks’ debut album, Starting Now. I have always liked this song, but I really enjoyed this stripped down version. I love music at its bare bones and that is what Wicks did here. As a side note, Wicks has been working on new music and I can’t wait for another album from him!

Cover Song

Bob Dylan’s “To You Feel My Love” has been covered by several artists and many have had success with it. The biggest success, however, comes from Garth Brooks. His version of the song was part of the Hope Floats soundtrack in 1998, and reached number one on the country charts. It also garnered Brooks and Dylan nods for the 41st Grammy Awards.

The other most noteworthy version of the song probably comes from vocal sensation, Adele. It is included on her debut album 19, and served as the album’s fifth single. It is a fantastic cover, but with Adele’s beautiful voice, who would expect anything less?

With that said, this week’s cover video is Adele performing the hit song on The Late Show With David Letterman.

It’s time for our “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

This week’s music video is Trace Adkins‘ hit, “Just Fishin’.” Sometimes you get a song and a video, and you just think to yourself… that could not have been done better. That is how I feel about “Just Fishin’.” It is one of my favorite country music videos of all-time.

The song served as Adkins’ lead single for his album, Proud To Be Here, and is nominated for “Best Country Song” at the upcoming Grammy Awards. The music video stars Adkins and his youngest daughter, and is a great representation for the very heartfelt and sweet song.

This week’s live pick is from one of my favorite artists. The video is Dierks Bently‘s acoustic performance of his number one hit “Every Mile A Memory” at Sprint Live Music Lounge in Austin, Texas. The song was the first single from his 2006 album, Long Trip Alone. Acoustic music and Dierks… you cannot really go wrong there.

Cover Song

This week’s cover song comes from pop/r&b star and one of my favorite American Idols, Jordin Sparks. The video is Sparks’ version of Rascal Flatts‘ mega hit, “Bless The Broken Road.” The Grammy Award winning track is one of my favorite songs of all-time. Jordin is a great vocalist, and she does a really beautiful job with this cover.

It’s time again for our “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

Many of you probably know Whitney Duncan from Nashville Star Season 5 (2007). Duncan was signed to Warner Bros. Nashville after finishing fifth on the show. I actually randomly stumbled upon her music a couple of years ago, and I enjoyed it so much that it made me seek out more of her work. This week’s music video is her debut single “When I Said I Would” from her first major label release, Right Road Now. I think the whole album is great, and Whitney has a voice and sound completely fitted for country music. If you have not already, definitely check out her songs on iTunes.

Live Performance

This week’s live performance video is Sugarland performing their mega hit “Settlin” for AOL sessions back in 2007. The song was the duo’s second single off of their multi-platinum album, Enjoy The Ride, and reached number one on the Country Billboard Chart.

“Settlin” is my favorite Sugarland song. Of course it has a memorable melody topped with Jennifer Nettles’ smooth vocals, but I am such a fan of the message. I personally try to live without settling in my life, and the track just always resonated with me. I am very much a lyrics girl so if I connect with the lyrics, I am usually drawn to the song. “I ain’t settlin’ for anything less than everything”… perfect.

Cover Song

Sometimes an artist takes a timeless, legendary song and creates a fantastic version of their own. That is what Keith Urban did with his cover of The Beatles’ “Help.” This week’s pick is Urban’s amazing performance of the classic from “Music City, Keep On Playin,” the benefit concert to support Nashville’s flood victims. I think it is one of the most memorable television performances I have ever seen!

We’re back with our weekly special, “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

This week’s music video is Jana Kramer‘s new single, “What I Love About Your Love. ” Many fans know her as Alex Dupre on the CW hit series, One Tree Hill, which just happens to be one of my favorite television shows of all-time. When Kramer came on to the OTH scene in 2009, I had no idea the talented actress was also such a talented singer.

Last year, she was signed to Warner Music Nashville. She now has a few singles under her belt and was also a part of the Footloose soundtrack with her version of “Let’s Hear It For The Boy.” The new track, “What I Love About Your Love,” has a fun sound that just makes you want to get up, put on a cowboy hat, and clap your hands. Not to mention, Kramer’s voice and country twang on the track take the song to another level.

Live Performance

I love live acoustic music and could listen to it all day! This week’s live performance is Kenny Chesney performing his number one song, “Somewhere With You,” at Walmart Soundcheck. The track served as the second single off of his album, Hemingway’s Whiskey, and is Chesney’s first single to be certified platinum for digital sales. It was a bit of a different sound than we were used to hearing from Chesney, but it’s a really great song and ended up being a perfect fit for him.

Cover Song

Casey James and Bret Michaels? I cannot find anything wrong with that combination. James is another one of my favorite contestants to come out of American Idol. He’s so talented with his smooth voice, fantastic guitar skills, and natural performance ability. James finished third on Idol season 9 back in 2010, and he got the chance to perform with rock icon, Bret Michaels on the finale that year. Their duet of Poison’s mega-hit “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” made for one of the most memorable performances from any season!

It’s our first “Video Picks of the Week” for 2012! Here we go…

Music Video

This week’s music video is Sara Evans, “A Little Bit Stronger.” The platinum hit served as the lead single for her sixth album, Stronger. I think the track is pretty much perfect. Great song, great lyrics, and I love the message. It was one of my favorite songs of 2011 without a doubt, and I was surprised it did not receive a Grammy nod. I think it was one of the biggest snubs this year, and Evans deserved to be nominated for “Country Song of the Year” or “Best Country Solo Performance.”

Live Performance

Pick Pickler! This week’s choice features an awesome live rendition of Kellie Pickler performing her song, “Tough.” It is the lead single from Pickler’s highly anticipated album, 100 Proof, which is set for release on January 24th. It is definitely one of the albums dropping this year to which country music fans are most looking forward. I have been following Pickler’s career since American Idol. Not only is she one of my favorite Idol contestants ever, but she is one of my favorite country singers. I cannot wait to hear 100 Proof.

Cover Song

Have you heard of Buddy Brown? I was searching Youtube and came across some of his excellent country song covers, and had to share with you all. This week’s video is his version of Jake Owen‘s, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”

Brown is a Gibson endorsed artists along with Costa Del Mar. His self-titled EP is available on iTunes. “Why You Won’t Dance” is a stand-out track for me.

Really, really good stuff. You should check him out! Plus, his covers on Youtube are some of the best I have heard.

This week’s music video is the Pistol Annie‘s hit first single, “Hell on Heels.” The Annies sure were a surprise this year, but what an awesome surprise they were. “Hell on Heels” is one of my favorite songs of the year and Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley, and Ashley Monroe’s voices blend so well together. They are the perfect country trio.

Live Performance

This week’s live performance pick is Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson performing their cross-over mega hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “Don’t You Wanna Stay” was definitely one of the biggest and best songs of 2011 as well as one of my favorites. Aldean and Clarkson made great duet partners, and the song earned them a nomination for “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” at the upcoming 54th Grammy Awards.

Cover Song

Taylor Swift is pretty much unstoppable. She had another huge year and wrapped up her widely successful “Speak Now World Tour.” As you probably know, Swift performed a cover song by a hometown artist in most cities along the tour run. When she stopped in Philly, she did a mash-up of Pink’s “Who Knew” and TLC’s “Unpretty.” It was one of my favorites from the whole tour. What was your favorite? This week’s music video is Martina McBride‘s powerful ballad, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” The song is the second single off of her new album, Eleven, and also just garnered McBride a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Country Solo Performance.” The song and video are very emotional with an inspiring message of hope, and McBride’s powerhouse vocals were the perfect fit for the track. Thank-you to Martina for recording this song, for all it represents, and for the awareness it brings.

Live Performance

The live performance pick is Blake Shelton performing his number one hit, “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking,” for AOL Sessions. The song was the second single off of his EP, All About Tonight. It is one of my all-time favorite Blake tracks.

Cover Song

I think most of us can agree that not many artists have had a bigger year than Adele, and deservingly so. This week’s cover song video is Adele and Darius Rucker‘s beautiful performance of Lady Antebellum‘s “Need You Now” at last year’s CMT Artists of the Year.
