Fresh off the #1 success of “Two Black Cadillacs,” Carrie Underwood took to Twitter this afternoon to reveal some big news. The next single off her Grammy-winning, mega-hit album Blown Away will be “See You Again.”
Carrie excitedly tweeted:
Who wants to know what my next single will be?!?!
I’m so happy about “Two Black Cadillacs” being #1 that I want to tell you…
Ok…I am so excited to announce that, hopefully, your radios will soon be blasting “See You Again!” I hope you are as happy as I am!
“See You Again” is the fourth single off of Blown Away, and was written by Carrie Underwood, Hillary Lindsey & David Hodges. You’ll be hearing it on your radio soon!
If only every one had a heart of gold like Blake Shelton. People may sometimes be overly critical of one of his tweets or off the cuff statements, but Shelton is as genuine as they come.
As if I wasn’t a big enough fan already of the current CMA Entertainer of the Year, he reaches out and makes a promise to one of our Army veterans, Brendan Marrocco.
Marrocco is a true hero with a story of strength. In January 2008, he entered the United States Army and was deployed to Iraq later that year. In April 2009, on Easter Sunday morning, Brendan’s vehicle was returning from a night mission when it was hit directly by an Explosive Fired Projectile. The attack caused him to lose all four limbs, and he is the first quadruple amputee to survive the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan.
Six weeks ago, 26-year-old Marrocco underwent a successful bilateral arm transplant at John Hopkins Hospital. Only six other patients in the U.S. have undergone the surgery, but Marrocco’s was the most extensive and first of its kind.
There have been several news conferences this week with Marrocco and his doctors. In a story from Henderson, KY. TV station, WEHT, the first person Marrocco says that he would like to shake hands with once he is able to do so is Mr. Blake Shelton.

You know when you hear a song and you just know it has “it”? That song that you can’t wait to hear on the radio while you are driving with the windows down so other cars can hear it? The song you sing at the top of your lungs? Well, remember that Cherie Oakley single, “Off I Go,” we teased last week? Well, it is now available on iTunes, and it is just that kind of song!
“Off I Go” has a Laura Bell Bundy “Shakin’” fun beat with some serious Miranda Lambert attitude. Add these things together with Cherie’s unparalleled vocals, and it certainly has all the components to be a huge hit!
While I would love to stay here and go on and on about how fantastic this new single is, I have one thing to say — “hell no, off I go!” I have a song to listen to on repeat!
What are you waiting for? Head over to iTunes and download “Off I Go”! Let us know what you think of Cherie’s song by leaving us a comment here or contacting us on Twitter @keepinitblog.
Mark Your Calendar: The Country Music Blog Rodeo Twitter Chat Happens Tomorrow January 24th!
We had a blast participating in the first ever Country Music Blog Rodeo yesterday with some of the top independent country music blogs on the net! We loved seeing everyone’s thoughts on the biggest and best trends for country music in 2013! Topics ranged from the impact of social media to artists on the rise to new festivals and tours to the influence of roots and Americana on mainstream country to the power of local communities on the wider industry and so much more! And there’s more to come!
For the first time in years, Reba McEntire will not be hosting the ACM Awards (due to a jam-packed schedule between her television show and other projects). However, as they say in show biz, the show must go on, and it will do so with Blake Shelton on the stage as a co-host. Yes, I said “co-host,” which means Blake will be sharing the stage with another artist.
Just a friendly reminder to all of our readers that we will be hosting a Twitter Chat with JillandKate tomorrow night, November 6th, at 9pm ET/8pm CT!
To participate in this exclusive event:
- When you tweet questions, or send a message to JillandKate, tweet both @keepinitblog and @JillandKate and include the hashtag #heartofstone;
- We will streamline the questions and send them to JillandKate and they will answer them for all of Twitter to see!
Even if you don’t have any specific questions for JillandKate, we would still love for you to join and chat. We are looking forward to another fun Keepin’ It Country Twitter event and cannot wait to hear what JillandKate will share with our readers! Thank you again to JillandKate for their support and participation!
You may have heard of Reba McEntire. Maybe just once, right? Okay, well that perhaps is the most inaccurate thing since “Back to the Future II” predicted that we would be hover boarding and wearing self-drying puffy jackets by now. However, we’ll bet you have never had the opportunity to live chat with the Queen of Country via USTREAM…until now!
On November 2, 2012 at 6:00pm EST/5:00pm CST, Reba will be hosting a live chat before the premiere of her new show, “Malibu Country.” After the live chat, Reba will head to Twitter to live tweet with her fans as the pilot episode airs, at 8:30pm EST/7:30pm CST on ABC.
You do not want to miss out on your opportunity for some possible one-on-one time with one of the biggest names in country music! To RSVP for Reba’s live USTREAM chat, click here. And make sure to follow Reba on Twitter at @Reba.
All Summer long, Kelly Clarkson has masterfully covered all types of songs, including some of our favorite country classics. She’s covered Vince Gill and Tammy Wynette, tackled Trisha and wowed us with “Wide Open Spaces,” but this time, she blows us away. Literally.
It takes guts to tackle a Carrie Underwood song, and just like with her incredible take on Carrie’s “I Know You Won’t,” Kelly changed the song to make it uniquely her own.
Prior to her performance in Perth, Australia, Kelly actually took to her Twitter to alert Carrie of her impending cover, while singing the song’s praises. She tweeted, “@carrieunderwood girl I’m covering Blown Away tonight for my fan request song and it is my favorite! I love how dark it is! Very cool song!”
Of course comparisons will be drawn between the original and the cover, and due to the fact that both girls came from a certain television show, but frankly, it shouldn’t matter. We love Carrie’s version and we also love the Kellified version.
We wish this video was a closer one, but take a listen as Kelly covers Carrie.
Which do you prefer? Let us know in the comments!
The ABC family, that is.
Kelly will be starring as a judge and performer on the upcoming ABC show “Duets,” alongside country artist Jennifer Nettles and singers Robin Thicke and John Legend. “Duets” premieres on Thursday, May 24, at 8:00pm EST/7:00pm CST. Reba’s Malibu Country will premiere this fall on the ABC network.
Kelly made her excitement to be a part of the ABC family well-known on Twitter, when she tweeted: “@reba and I are officially members of the ABC family woohoo!!” Reba quickly responded: “@kelly_clarkson Way to go KC!!!!!” Tune in this summer and this fall to see the newest members of the ABC family on their respective programs!
Kelly Clarkson has always had a special bond with her fans, and has involved them in her career since the beginning. After all, Clarkson and her fans have literally been together since she first stepped on the American Idol stage back in 2002. The multi-Grammy award winner is currently on the road, and takes the time to acknowledge the fan support at each tour stop by thanking them for voting for her and being with her the last 10 years.
Throughout the Stronger Tour, the powerhouse singer has been taking fan requests via Twitter. Every show, she picks a different request to perform. Alternating between her own songs and covers, she paid homage to Shania Twain by performing “You’re Still The One” at her tour stop in Windsor, Ontario last week. Of course, Clarkson and her band did a beautiful job with the song.
We love the fan request idea, and it has given us some amazing covers from KC.
The Stronger Tour is a must see! For tour dates and information visit: www.kellyclarkson.com.
PS: It is not a country cover, but Kelly did a fantastic cover of Paramore’s “The Only Exception” over the weekend. Check it out here: http://youtu.be/44YuCZIPmjw
