Try saying that title three times fast!
As you have probably seen advertised recently (during The Sound of Music, The Voice, or a myriad of other NBC specials), Kelly Clarkson is bringing some of her best assets to the network for her Cautionary Christmas Music Tale. Specifically, Kelly will bring her talent, sense of humor, and impressive cast of characters in her life to a television audience.
During this special, Kelly presents the brattiest possible version of herself (“Scrooge, diva’d out,” she calls the character) while trying to enlist celebrities to appear in a Christmas special. “We’re doing a show within a show, kind of like White Christmas,” Kelly says. “Let me tell you this, though … it’s nowhere near that good. I love what we’ve done, but that’s a classic.”
Kelly’s show will feature musical performances from mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, along with Trisha Yearwood, both of whom appear on Kelly’s Christmas album Wrapped in Red. The show will also include cameos by Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, Heidi Klum, Community‘s Ken Jeong and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy‘s Jai Rodriguez will make appearances. Oh, and did we mention Blake Shelton … as an elf?
This will be an event that Kelly fans and country fans will not want to miss! Tune in to NBC or set your DVRs tonight for the 10:00pm EST airing of Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale! And check out some behind-the-scenes footage of the special, featuring Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton:
There’s something in the air in the Brooks/Yearwood household and it seems to be the aroma of a good ole country concert! While Garth Brooks announced additional New Year’s shows at the Wynn Las Vegas today, Trisha Yearwood stepped forward with an even bigger announcement — a tour!
The following are the currently scheduled tour dates/locations as Trisha takes her show on the road in 2014:
Just hours after Billboard announced that “Underneath the Tree” is a #1 hit on AC Radio, Kelly Clarkson continues to sleigh with the release of her official video for the song. The video features a performance and behind the scenes clips from her forthcoming NBC TV Special, Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Music Tale.
This past Friday night, Garth Brooks‘ Las Vegas show aired live on CBS from The Wynn to fans’ delight, and the highly anticipated television special certainly did not disappoint! With 8.7 million viewers spending their Black Friday nights curled up on their couches, watching one of country music’s best, the special doubled Lady Gaga’s recently aired Muppets event. Clearly fans do not live by the old cliche “out of sight, out of mind,” and are eagerly awaiting the day Garth announces that he will be bringing his show back out on the road!
Clad in work boots, baggy jeans, a hoodie, and a Wynn Las Vegas baseball cap, Garth owned the stage on which he was only accompanied by a guitar. With stories from his childhood and brief covers of songs on which he grew up, Garth entertained the live and television audiences with his sense of humor, charisma, and stellar vocals. While sharing tales about his large family and their many adventures during Garth’s childhood (such as riding shotgun and fearing for his life as his mother’s lead foot took over the vehicle), Garth covered some of the influential songs that impacted his career. The show could best be classified as “stand-up comedy … with a guitar.”
Garth also “surprised” the audience with a cameo by his superstar country vocalist wife, Trisha Yearwood, who joined her husband on stage for a performance of the couple’s “In Another’s Eyes.” Before leaving the stage, Trisha also gave us a brief sampling of one of her most infamous songs “She’s In Love With the Boy.” Luckily for us diehard Garth fans, we were also blessed with performances (albeit mere clips) of some of Garth’s oldies and goodies, including “Somewhere Other Than the Night” and party classic “Friends In Low Places.” Perhaps the most incredible moment of the night, at least for this particular huge Garth fan, was the performance of “Shameless.” Not only does Garth own the Billy Joel cover every time the words slip through his lips, but during this specific performance, Garth let go of his true and tried stage companion (his acoustic guitar), and sang a portion of the song a cappella. At that point, 8.7 million hearts simultaneously melted.
The two-hour event was a blast from the past, as well as a glimpse into the future, of Garth’s country career and left fans craving more … especially to the tune of a 2014 tour. Between the release of Garth’s eight-disc Blame It All On My Roots boxed set and the live airing of his final Las Vegas show, fans are buzzing about the possibility of Garth coming out of “retirement,” hitting the road, and sharing his music — new and old — with country music fans across the world.
Not only did fans of country music sit with their eyes glued to their televisions on Friday night, but Garth’s peers in the country music industry tuned in to watch their beloved idol entertain the masses. Below are some of our favorite reaction tweets from country musicians:
@DierksBentley: still the man… #garthbrooks
@carrieunderwood: Loving this #GarthBrooks special! Saw the show in Vegas a few years ago…so much joy and love for music! #Inspired #FellowOkie

@jodeemessina: OMG! Watching Garth special. He is amazing! Some people have just “got it”. Ha. He just happens to have a LOT of it. Rock on Garth! Xoxo

@johnrich: Watching #Garth right now. Country music’s Elvis! Also, I never realized how much he and @glennbeck look alike. Am I right?
@mallaryhope: Garth Brooks is the best ever. The end
@WillHoge: there’s some jackass on CBS TOTALLY ripping off Chris Gaines right now. He should sue this dude
@cavanaughmusic: Garth brooks is the man for a reason
If anything became evident during this event, it is that “retirement” has not affected the stunning vocals of this iconic performer, nor has time away from the limelight hindered his ability to bring a memorable show to his fans. Here’s to hoping that Garth is ready to travel the world again for one more “Rodeo”!
Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale is set to air December 11th on NBC. The special will center around a comedic story of Clarkson searching for the meaning of Christmas. In recent interviews, she has likened the tale to a diva-spin on A Christmas Carol.
Of course, the powerhouse vocalist will also be performing songs from her new Christmas album, Wrapped In Red. The record was just released last month, and it is absolute Christmas and vocal perfection! We’ve had it on repeat since October.
Her mom-in-law, Reba, and good friend, Trisha Yearwood, helped Clarkson close out her album with a stunning trio version of “Silent Night”, and they join her to perform the classic for the special as well. Also on hand for Clarkson’s Christmas special debut is good buddy, Blake Shelton. Other guests include: Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, Heidi Klum, Ken Jeong and Jai Rodriguez.
Set your DVRs! The music tale will air Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
Meanwhile, take a listen to Clarkson’s first single from her Christmas album, “Underneath The Tree” & check out some photos from the Christmas special’s taping:
It may not even be Halloween yet, but Kelly Clarkson‘s already got us hitting the fast-forward buttons on our calendars. Her Christmas album, Wrapped In Red, hits stores October 29th, but today, Clarkson spoiled her fans with an early Christmas gift. The pop-country dynamo unwrapped “Underneath the Tree” on her official Vevo account a day after taking to Twitter to spotlight the Christmas single’s omg-adorable lyrics.
While the lyrics are cute in their cursive print on festive red stationery, it’s the toe-tapping melody, sleigh bells, perfect saxophone solo and unmatched vocals that make “Underneath the Tree” sound like an insta-classic. Clarkson sings as though she’s got the Hallelujah Chorus, Santa’s entire workshop and the little girl from Love Actually (forget Mariah!) trapped within her vocal chords, and we mean that in the absolute best way possible. Frankly, she “sleighs” it. (badum!)
Enough from us, you just have to listen:
Clarkson will be filming a Christmas special at the Venetian in Las Vegas on October 30th, and already-announced guests include Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood. The show, Kelly Clarkson’s (Cautionary) Christmas Tale, will air following The Voice on December 10th or fans can grab tickets to the live taping here.
And if you can’t get enough Christmas in October from Clarkson, she revealed a STUNNING rendition of “White Christmas” earlier this week.
Fans of food and Trisha Yearwood are in luck, as her Emmy-winning Food Network series Trisha’s Southern Kitchen will return for a fourth season this fall. The new season promises more family-inspired recipes, great music and visits from famous friends. Those famous friends will include Kelly Clarkson, Wendy Williams, Chef Art Smith, Olympic Gold Medalists Nadia Comaneci and Bart Conner and NFL star Kurt Warner.
“In my family, cooking has always been a collaborative effort that brings everyone together,” said Trisha. “Including the ‘whole family’ has always been a part of the show and that’s why I’ve invited even more friends to join me in the kitchen this season, along with my usual crew.”
The season premiere will transport viewers to the nostalgic days of black and white television and TV dinners, featuring a 1950s theme in clothing and food, including Chicken Pot Pie, Chocolate Pudding Frosted Cupcakes and Green Beans with Cheese Sauce. The fourth season will also feature holiday and other special themed episodes, including Thanksgiving, Holiday Brunch and ladies night.
New episodes will begin airing on Saturday, November 9th at 10:30am on the Food Network.

October is shaping up to be a busy month for Kelly Clarkson. She’ll wrap up her tour with Maroon 5, marry fiance Brandon Blackstock and release her first Christmas album. The pop-country phenom took to Twitter today to reveal the album’s cover, release date and title.
She tweeted: I have been dying to make this album since I was a kid! #WrappedInRed comes out Oct. 29th.
Earlier this year, she revealed that the album would feature collaborations with country royalty, including Ronnie Dunn on the classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” She told ABC News Radio, “He is like one of my favorite voices of all time. He’s so soulful, and that song, if you know Ronnie Dunn, is so his personality. Like, it’s straight up his personality to say all of that to try to get you to stay and have a drink.”
Additionally, she enlisted two country female powerhouses, Reba & Trisha Yearwood to join her on a track. “I can’t believe that Reba and Trisha agreed to do a trio with me on it. So, they’re doing ‘Silent Night,’ and it’s gonna be so epic. I’m so excited.”
We’re excited for Wrapped In Red! Are you?
