Trisha Yearwood’s Southern Kitchen Returns for 2nd Season

Trisha Yearwood.

Trisha Yearwood has been a pretty busy woman. While she might not be hitting the country charts, she’s been on the Food Network with her own cooking show “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” and she announced this week that she’ll be returning to the network for a second season. This season will include a guest appearance by her husband, country icon Garth Brooks, along with Allie and August Brooks for Christmas and holiday episodes. Each episode is shot in Oklahoma, and the new season will premiere on October 20th on the Food Network.

This season will include Halloween episodes, Sunday Supper, Southern Brunch, Thanksgiving traditions, and even tips to help slim down Southern-style meals.

Trisha’s pretty excited about the new season. She shares:

“I’m so excited for season two. Sharing my family recipes and having the people I love most by my side is such a joy. This show celebrates what living life to the fullest is all about.”

One special moment of the season will be when she shares a wedding shower recipe, which turns pretty emotional. Did you catch any of her first season?

VIDEO: Kelly Clarkson Stuns with Trisha Yearwood Cover

It’s starting to seem a little redundant, but Kelly Clarkson has done it yet again and impressed us with another flawless country cover. This time, the dabbling-in-country-yet-still-pop songstress tackled Trisha Yearwood‘s iconic hit “Walkaway Joe” at a recent show in Georgia.

In the video, Clarkson takes a sip from a red solo cup (Is that cover far behind?) before admitting to being afraid her voice wouldn’t compare to Trisha Yearwood’s. We’re not sure why she’s SO humble because she more than lives up to the original, she SLAYS it. She also admits that she’s dying to duet with Trisha herself, and we sure hope that happens ASAP!

Garth Brooks To Tour Again?

Garth Brooks.

In an interview with Vegas Deluxe, Garth Brooks  admitted that he’d love to be able to tour again with his wife, Trisha Yearwood, once his kids have moved out and he would be “guilt-free.” His youngest graduates in 2014, so Garth fans may be waiting a few more years for that tour, however.

R.L.: You mentioned the tour possibly starting up again. When do the kids finally get out of your hair, even though it sounds like you don’t want them to?

G.B.: I don’t think you ever stop being a parent, but when we become empty nesters, well, my youngest graduates in May of 2014. So, we become empty nesters right around then, and who knows. Our business, as you know, this business is very fickle, so there might not be a hole for us. But if there is, I would love to tour again for the first time ever without guilt from being away from either your spouse or your children. Now my children are off doing their own thing, and my spouse is with me. You know we’re together on tour, so I think that would be all the fun things.

In the same interview, Garth also discusses if he has a desire to record a new album after 2014 when he’s an “empty nester.” He doesn’t feel like the current country music business is set up to have a “successful” album, and says that he doesn’t see many of what he would consider to be successful albums out right now, so that may stop him from releasing another album anytime soon.

It’s a sad few days for music fans in Macon, Georgia. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame board of directors announced plans to permanently shut down the Hall of Fame on June 12th due to budget cuts and financial instability. While outside bidders put their names forward to fund the historic building, the board of directors were dead-set on closing down the building, the Macon Telegraph is reporting. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame’s inductee list includes the legendary Patty Loveless, Alan Jackson and Trisha Yearwood, to name just a few.

Plans have the exhibits and memorabilia to be spread out throughout Georgia to the university of Georgia, Georgia State University and the University of West Georgia.
