Trace Adkins On The State Of Country Music

trace

As the calendar is about to turn on a phenomenal year for Country music, it’s time to sit back and reflect a bit.

Country’s influence and impact reached far and wide this past year.  Cross-over artists like Taylor Swift and Lady A brought their music to millions of fans, many of whom may have been getting their first taste of the genre.  Country artists finished first and second on the latest season of American idol with Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.  Then there was Blake Shelton, who brought a funny, thoughtful and sometimes surprisingly compassionate face to Country through his work on NBC’s “The Voice”.

Toby Keith Performing Red Solo Cup At ACA’s

Toby Keith has just announced that he will make the broadcast debut of “Red Solo Cup” at the American Country Awards on FOX on Monday night. This will be the first time that his fan-favorite funny little drinking single will be performed on television. The song became an internet viral sensation less than a week of it’s release on YouTube, and thanks to fan demand, it has just officially become Toby’s newest single.

The Second annual American Country Awards will be co-hosted by Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth and is the only country music award show that gives fans all the power to choose the winners. Also performing for the first time at an award show are the Pistol Annies, who join previously announced performers Blake Shelton, Scotty McCreery, Thompson Square, Eli Young Band, Alabama, and The Band Perry. Appearing on the night will be Miranda Lambert, Josh Turner, Lauren Alaina, Jordin Sparks, The Big Show, The JaneDear Girls, Bill Engvall, Larry Mahan, Rodney Carrington and the male cast of “Pawn Stars.”

The ACA’s air live on FOX at 8 pm EST on Monday, December 5th. We will have our very own Ted Efron and Jessica Crans on the Red Carpet and backstage at the award show, so check back with us to get the latest news directly from the award show.

Trace Adkins posted a picture this afternoon on his Facebook page of his family home being torn down today to start the rebuild. His house caught on fire in the Summer while his family was home, but luckily no one was hurt. The fire was believed to have started by the dryer in the garage thanks to an electrical issue. REVIEW: Trace Adkins – Million Dollar View

Trace Adkins’ singles are always unpredictable. He can hit you with one of the most beautiful ballads, then leave you scratching your head over his latest for-fun, silly little song. He’s never one to play it “safe,” and he’s never released a single that was a guaranteed hit on country radio. Maybe that’s why he’s so likable: that his entire career was built on risk, and love it or hate it kind of singles. Even his albums change from release to release; with fans never sure if they’re going to get the joking side or serious side of Trace with each record.

“Million Dollar View” is as close to safe as Trace has ever been. The latest release off of his newest album “Proud To Be Here” was custom-made for country radio. The follow-up to “Just Fishin’,” his first solo top 10 hit in almost three years, (“Hillbilly Bone” with Blake Shelton aside), it should do just as well as the first single off the album. It’s a sentimental but up-beat song where Trace explains how it doesn’t matter what everyone else in the world thinks is the most beautiful place in the world – he has all he has to see in his woman. Maybe it’s a little more heartfelt now since he lost his house to a fire earlier in the year.

Trace Adkins was the second country artist to perform the national anthem at the Game Series this year on FOX last night. Before he went out on the diamond, he discussed his friendship with Tony La Russa and the Cardinals HERE.

Watch his great performance below:

Scotty McCreery sang the anthem at Game One, and country legend Ronnie Dunn will sing it at Game Three. Looks like baseball loves its country stars!

Trace Adkins & Ronnie Dunn Singing At World Series

Trace Adkins and Ronnie Dunn have both just been announced as performing the national anthem at the World Series. Fellow country artist Scotty McCreery recently sang the anthem at game one of the baseball series. Trace will perform tonight at the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals game in Texas, and Ronnie Dunn will sing at game three on Sunday night.

I’m pretty sure they won’t pull a Christina Aguilera and forgot the lyrics to the national anthem on live television.
