Alabama Plans Tuscaloosa Concert for Tornado Relief

Once again, country music legends Alabama are planning to shine some light on the natives of their home state.

Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, and Jeff Cook announced a special benefit concert to take place at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on Friday, September 2nd. Proceeds from this once-in-a-lifetime event will benefit the Tuscaloosa Storm Recovery Fund. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday, August 5th at 10 am via Ticketmaster. You can also charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

Alabama headlined “Bama Rising: A Concert for Alabama Tornado Relief” on Tuesday, June 14th, at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham. The sold-out spectacular raised more than $2 million in tornado relief for the state.

Thompson Square Sells Shirts for Joplin Red Cross

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, better known as country music’s hot little duo, Thompson Square, are selling the same t-shirts that Keifer Thompson wore for their CMT Awards performance last week. A black t-shirt saying “Joplin, MO” in white lettering is for sale on the Thompson Square website with all proceeds going to the Joplin Red Cross for tornado relief efforts in the county.

The husband-and-wife duo grew up just outside Joplin. This is their way of showing support for their home-town community in this difficult time.

The Thompsons met the Gilbert family backstage at the CMT Awards before the Sugarland performance. The Gilbert family survived the tornado and were recently reunited. It was their personal story that inspired the duo to raise funds for Joplin through merchandise sales.

Kelly Clarkson Joined Blake and Reba Tonight to Raise Money for Tornado Victims

Kelly Clarkson announced today on her facebook page that she had landed in Oklahoma and would be joining Reba and Blake tonight to help raise money for tornado victims in the area. Kelly also added a funny photo, joking around that she was there for her American Idol audition.

I just arrived in Oklahoma because I’m here to sing with Reba and Blake tonight for a benefit show and in the lobby of the hotel we’re hanging at I found this gem! I’m here for my audition!

In this photo by Ashley Donovan (Kelly’s friend and make-up artist), looks like Kelly is having fun enjoying Blake’s set!

Reba and Blake also did a benefit show last night, with the stage being set up with both artists’ bands. Both artists sang back up for each other.

According to some tweets from Choctaw Casino Resort, Kelly took the stage for a small set:

Surprise guest, Kelly Clarkson joined @reba on stage tonight & sang 4 songs together including “Why Haven’t I Heard from You?”

“Because of You”, from Reba’s duets album, brought tears to the eyes of many but those tears turned to smiles with Kelly’s hit “Walk Away”.

Kelly Clarkson and @blakeshelton followed with the love ballad “Don’t You Wanna Stay?”.

Kelly Clarkson and @reba ended the set by singing “Since You’ve Been Gone” that brought the crowd to their feet.

Looking forward to seeing some media of Blake and Kelly singing together!
