Only four days into the tour, Toby has travelled to the Middle East to lift the spirits of the troops and their families. He has already touched the lives of 3,900 service members stationed in Bahrain and aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, as well as other locations.

Watershed Festival Coming To The Northwest

watershed

The country music festival scene is about to get a new player.  The recently announced Watershed Festival is coming to Washington state.  The self-proclaimed “Northwest’s Premiere Country Music Festival” will reportedly take place at The Gorge Amphitheatre this August 3-5.

While we know the where and the when of the festival, we’re still waiting on the “who” – as in who will be performing.  The festival does have an official website, but for now it is serving as a countdown clock to April 27, which is the date when all of the details will be revealed.

One thing that has been confirmed about the Watershed Festival is that Live Nation’s Brian O’Connell is involved.  He’s a five-time winner of the Academy of Country Music Award for Promoter of the Year.  He works with names such as Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw and Sugarland.  Any festival that can bring in any of those acts can call itself “premiere” or anything else it wants!

Earlier this week O’Connell sent out this message on his Twitter account:

Hey guys @WatershedFest is my new baby, at the Gorge outside Seattle, one of the best venues.. 3 days of country music and camping !!!!!!

For those who may have never been there, The Gorge is a stunningly beautiful concert setting located about 150 miles east of Seattle.  The amphitheatre is just off of Interstate 90 near the tiny town of George (That’s right – George,Washington!) and offers spectacular views overlooking the Columbia River.  (See the below pic that was posted on the Watershed Facebook page.)

Come this August, will the river be rockin’ to a whole lot of Country?  It certainly sounds like it.  Stay tuned!

Keep up with the Watershed Festival on Facebook and follow it on Twitter @WatershedFest.

Toby Keith’s Red Solo Cup Goes Platinum!

Congratulations to Toby Keith and the team at Showdog-Universal! The Spring Break Anthem in “Red Solo Cup” has officially gone platinum for selling over 1 million copies of the single. Songwriters Brad Warren, Brett and Jim Beavers, as well as Toby, were presented with the plaque on the weekend to celebrate the certification.

The single is reaching the 1.7 million sales mark, so it shouldn’t be long before it hits double platinum. Toby performed the single live at the Academy of Country Music Awards on the weekend in Las Vegas.

Toby Keith Kicking It Into Overdrive For New Tour

Toby Keith.

Looks like Toby Keith fans will soon proceed to party in their cities wit the man himself. Toby has announced a brand new North American tour to help get the party going with his fans across the United States and Canada. “Toby Keith: Live In Over Drive Tour” kicks off June 14th in Salt Lake City, Utah with Brantley Gilbert. The tour is sponsored by Ford F-Series. Check out the full list of tour dates, so far, below.

Toby has been one of the largest live draws for nearly a decade. The tour, which continues through to September 22nd in Boston, MA, won’t be an exception to that rule. Toby is as hot as he’s ever been in his career, nominated for three Academy of Country Music Awards for his party anthem “Red Solo Cup.”  It’s that song that was named the “official Spring Break anthem” by Ryan Seacrest last week on his radio show during an interview with Toby. Toby will be performing at the ACM Awards on April 1st live from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Brantley will help bring the tour to another level. At just 27 years old, he’s already found his place among country music’s elite. He found himself nominated for the Country Music Association’s Song Of The Year last year, and he’s up for the ACM New Artist Of The Year at the April 1st award show. His sophomore project, “Halfway To Heaven Deluxe,” debuted at number two on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. He’ll be opening for Toby on the tour.

Toby Keith Offers No Apologies For Solo Cups

Toby Keith.

Toby Keith fans worried about losing their solo cups don’t need to worry – they can proceed to party. Although Toby Keith admits he never called Solo to ask permission about using their products, he’s offering no apologies for the single. In an interview with Elvis Duran of Z100 in New York about Toby’s party anthem in “Red Solo Cup” becoming so huge, Toby admitted:

“My manager goes, should we call the Solo Cup people before we put this out? I said, no, it’s easier to apologize than it is to ask for permission.”

Looks like Solo wasn’t so impressed with the single at first. Toby continues:

“The company had a problem with the song for about a week, and then they came around and said ok and then they apologized and now they’re on our side.”

I can’t imagine that the company would have much a problem now. The song went viral almost overnight, becoming a single from Toby’s “Clancy’s Tavern” album, and even finding a spot on Glee!

In other Toby news, he’s announced plans to play an army tour show at Fort McCoy. Opening acts and ticket details will be announced as the date gets closer, but the show will take place on August 2nd. Ticket on-sale date will be announced soon, but camping details have been released to the Army Concert Tour website.

Pistol Annies & Toby Keith Go Gold!

Pistol Annies.

Congratulations goes out to both the Pistol Annies and Toby Keith this morning. The Annies have gone gold for their debut single as a group with “Hell On Heels.” Toby’s now certified gold for his single “Made In America” and his album “Clancy’s Tavern.” All were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000 digital copies.

This is the first gold single for the Pistol Annies as a group, whose debut album, which was only sold digitally for the first few weeks, debut at number one on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart. With almost no promotion, the group sold over 44,000 copies its first week and landed in at a cool number five on the Billboard 200 chart.
