Keepin’ It Country’s CMA Predictions

Blake-Miranda-CMA-predictions

The CMA’s are upon as once again, so the Keepin’ It Country Staff narrowed down our picks for the night’s biggest awards. Let us know who you agree with!

Entertainer of the Year Nominees: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift

Nicole: It’s not an easy choice here, and there’s definitely the obvious inclusion of George Strait for sentimental reasons, but I have to give this to Blake. He played a huge summer tour, anchors the judging panel on The Voice season after season and put out quite a few huge hits. He’s arguably the biggest thing in country right now so I have to give it to him.

Jessica: Luke Bryan has had a huge year, and I think he’s taken one of the top spots in country music right now. You can’t deny those dance moves!

Jennifer: Luke Bryan – With sold out shows across the country and yet another #1 hit song (despite Zac Brown’s disdain for said song), no one is killing it on radio or on the road quite like Luke.

Jeanna: Blake Shelton or Taylor Swift? Both have really helped broaden the country music audience and impact the genre in such a significant way. Taylor is massive with her sold out tours worldwide and cross-over success. Blake is the face of the genre at the present time, and he has helped put country on the map and bring it to focus with The Voice. Luke Bryan had a big year and is a possibility too. However, I feel like it’s Blake’s time for this right now so I’m giving this one to him.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Platinum-Selling, Grammy-Nominated Artist Jo Dee Messina

Jo Dee Messina

Country megastar and two-time Grammy Award nominee, Jo Dee Messina, has been named the Academy of Country Music Awards’ Top New Female Vocalist; Billboard Magazine’s Most Played Country Female Artist of the Year; Boston Music Awards’ Outstanding Country Act, Outstanding Female Vocalist, and Act of the Year; and the Country Music Association Awards’ Horizon Award recipient. She has been atop Billboard’s Country Music Chart and in the Top 15 of Billboard’s 200. She has platinum albums and gold albums and has experienced a myriad of successes. And while she has been seemingly quiet on the radio as of late, she never really said Bye Bye or even took any Downtime. We were unbelievably lucky to catch up with one of country music’s sensations to find out what she has been up to, when we can expect new music, and to chat about her time on the road – both musically and on foot. During our conversation, she convinced us I’m Alright, made it clear that she could handle anything, so Bring On the Rain, and, when the sun came back out, she made sure we knew that, in certain situations, My Give a Damn’s Busted. All in all, we found out that one of our favorite artists is on her way to a comeback with a vengeance and is ready to give the Peace Sign to naysayers!

First thing’s first – let’s clear up some rumors! Jo Dee never went away. In fact, she did quite the opposite; she has been touring, as well as making records for her fans. And while the songs she recorded on her former label may have ended up on shelves, you might be interested to find out that Jo Dee actually was first to record a song called Put Me In the Ground, which is more identifiable as The Band Perry‘s smash hit, Better Dig Two. When Jo Dee’s label failed to believe in the potential of Put Me In the Ground, it became mutually clear for Jo Dee and her label that it was time to part ways. (Oh, and Jo Dee is incredibly excited that the song has been successful for The Band Perry because she loves the song and she loves The Band Perry.)

Exclusive Interview: Janelle Arthur

Janelle Arthur Interview

Janelle Arthur (@JanelleOArthur) is perhaps best known, at this time, as a contestant from Season 12 of American Idol. A true beauty, inside and out, the Tennessean country singer and guitarist left her life behind and embarked on the journey that so many hope to experience, but a mere few ever will. After placing fifth in a season of the most epic singing competition to ever land on American television, Janelle has been hard at work launching her solo career. We were fortunate to catch up with the incredibly sweet, personable, and inspiring artist to discuss her childhood, Idol journey, and what her bright musical future holds.

Janelle was born in Oliver Springs, Tennessee and began singing certain words before she could even speak them. Immediately it became clear that music was going to be a huge part of Janelle’s life. From that point forward, Janelle began performing around her hometown and in school, which led to a gig that most country-loving kids would be beyond honored to land. At eight-years-old, Janelle was cast as a young Dolly Parton at the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Janelle’s mom was instrumental in her landing the part, as, after seeing an advertisement for the show in Country Weekly, she called Dollywood and inquired as to whether a child performer was needed. The phone call took place at just the right time, as production was looking for a little girl Janelle’s age to portray Dolly. Janelle’s mom asked if she could bring her to the audition, and thereafter, without hesitation, Janelle was immediately cast in the role.

Keepin’ It Country Presents … Logan Mize – Take 2!

Logan Mize

Logan Mize has opened for artists like Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry, and Dierks Bentley, and on Thursday, October 24th, at 8:00pm EST, Logan is bringing his talents back to the Keepin’ It Country Presents stage to share with his fans some new music and stories, as well as old fan favorites!

Logan recently released his new single, Used Up, which he is actively promoting at this time. Logan describes Used Up as a track that began as “a fairly intense marital dispute between me and Jill (my wife). I can’t remember what it was about, but I’ve been joking with my live audiences that I stormed off like Taylor Swift to go write a song about it … Moral of the story I suppose is: listen to your wife more.”

Logan is currently finishing up his next album and completing the writing process. This album, which Logan describes as “the most accurate representation of me to date,” will likely be released in early 2014. Don’t miss this Stageit show … you never know what new songs will make their way on to the setlist!

We are thrilled to welcome Logan back to our Keepin’ It Country stage, and hope to see you all there! To purchase your Pay What You Choose ticket for this Thursday’s show, click here.

Kimberly Perry is Engaged

Kimberly Petty Engaged to J.P. Arencibia

The Band Perry has a lot to sing about these days! From their critical acclaim to their radio hits to their first headlining tour, the singing siblings are at the top of their game. Now, the trio’s front-woman, Kimberly, has even more to celebrate. On Monday night, the 30 year-old got engaged to J.P. Arencibia of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Although it was a surprise to Perry, Arencibia enlisted her family to help orchestrate the perfect proposal. She revealed the adorable details to the Tennessean, including how he did it, why it lived up to her dreams and even what she wore. “I got to read the letter (from her family) and get dressed and put on my grandfather’s bracelet,” she said. “I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
