The Voice: Team Blake Recap – Week 6

The Voice

On Monday night, the battle rounds continued on The Voice. This week’s recap is relatively short since there was only one Team Blake battle.

This past episode, we had Charlotte Sometimes up against Lex Land. Team Blake’s awesome mentors (I’m pretty jealous, to be honest), Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert, were back. Kelly worked with Charlotte (read more about their mentor session), while Miranda helped out Lex.

Blake chose Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” for the girls’ battle. Charlotte and Lex gave it their all on performance night, and Blake ended up choosing Charlotte to advance in the competition.

Charlotte vs. Lex Battle:

Charlotte gave a great performance, and we are happy to see her continue with Team Blake. And we didn’t know beforehand, but Charlotte is also pretty funny and has a great sense of humor.

Congratulations to Charlotte! We are looking forward to seeing her again next round.

We also want to wish good luck to Lex. We are sure more good things will come her way.

Kelly Clarkson & Charlotte Sometimes Cried During The Voice

Blake Shelton & Kelly Clarkson on "The Voice"

In one of the segments not shown on television this week during the Battle Rounds, Kelly Clarkson and Team Blake contestant Charlotte Sometimes shared a moment together. In a telephone call yesterday, Charlotte admitted that her and the pop superstar were crying as they spoke about how other people’s opinions effected them:

“I’m such a big fan of Kelly Clarkson. I think she’s so awesome, so she really just taught me like, you know, when we had our moment together when it wasn’t shown on TV — we had this moment where we both crying and talking about like just people’s opinions about us.”

Charlotte explains a bit further as the pair talked about body image. Charlotte admits that she was anorexic growing up, and she bonded with Kelly over this fact:

“And our bodies and completely way that, you know, didn’t know I went through. But I was anorexic all growing up and when I first — my first record came out everyone was kind of like trashing me and calling me fat and all these things.”

It looks like those few minutes with Kelly affected the singer, who says that Kelly gave her the confidence to be herself and be confident in who she was as a person before hitting the stage:

“She just kind of really made me feel comfortable in my skin. And just gave me confidence and just made me feel like it was okay to be myself and that was good enough. And I just – I’m just so thankful that I got to have that conversation with her.”

The Voice continues next Monday night at 8 pm EST. Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert both return to help mentor members of Team Blake Shelton. See who else moves on to the live rounds next week and stay tuned to Keepin’ it Country for all your up-to-date and exclusive Team Blake news.

The Voice: Team Blake Recap – Week 5

The Voice

With all teams complete, The Voice is officially in the second phase of the competition!

The battle rounds began last night, and our Team Blake had to send two members home. It was a fight between Adley Stump vs. RaeLynn and Brian Fuente vs. Jordis.

Joining Team Blake as mentors are music superstars, Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. Miranda and Kelly are each in charge of six members. This week, Miranda worked with RaeLynn and Jordis, while Kelly helped out Adley and Brian. None of the team members knew that they were being mentored by Miranda and Kelly. Needless to say, they were all very excited when they walked into the room and saw them. I loved getting to watch Miranda and Kelly work with the team. They are both so unbelievably talented, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth. Not to mention, you cannot beat their first-hand experience when it comes to singing competitions.

RaeLynn vs. Adley

Blake chose Tom Petty’s, “Free Fallin’” for RaeLynn and Adley’s battle. The girls both sounded great and Adley has some vocal range. Unfortunately, Blake had to make the difficult decision of sending someone home. In the end, he decided to have RaeLynn continue forward in the competition.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with RaeLynn From “The Voice”

RaeLynn

Will the first one picked be the last one standing on NBC’s The Voice?  That’s a storyline country singer RaeLynn would love to see play out.

It’s been a little more than three weeks since the 17-year-old made a super splash immediately after the Super Bowl.  The native of Baytown, Texas led off the show’s second season by landing a spot on Blake Shelton’s team (turning down a chance to work with Adam Levine).  Blake tried to entice her to join his team by telling the teen, “I can make you a country star.”  He pretty much had her from the moment he turned his chair, which was a feat in itself as she bravely chose to sing a song by her inspiration and Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert.

RaeLynn may be one of the youngest members of Team Blake, but that doesn’t mean she’s inexperienced.  She’s part of a large, musically inclined family (she has seven brothers and sisters) and has been performing for most of her life.  Two of her cousins are in the GRAMMY-nominated progressive worship band, “Leeland.”  As for her own career, she spent a lot of time in summer school, allowing her to finish high school two years early so she could try her hand at acting.  But it turned out that her life in L.A. had her leaning back toward music.

Now she’s back in the business with her eyes on the prize.  That includes competing on The Voice and beyond.

We have to start by asking about your blind audition.  Last season, two singers sang a Miranda Lambert song and both times Blake didn’t turn his chair.  Yet, you started the whole show by singing “Hell On Heels,” her hit with the Pistol Annies.  Were you confident, crazy or both?

The Voice: Team Blake Recap – Week 3

The Voice

With only one more show left of The Voice blind audition rounds, Team Blake is nearly complete!

In weeks one and two, we already met team members RaeLynn, Gwen Sebastian (interview), Jermaine Paul, Erin Willett, Jordis Unga, and Brian Fuente. This past week, Blake added four more members to his crew: Naia Kete, Charlotte Sometimes, ALyX, and Jordan Rager.

Naia Kete

Naia was born in Massachusetts and now hails from California. The twenty-one year old auditioned with a cool, unique version of Bruno Mars’ “The Lazy Song.” Blake and Cee Lo Green battled it out for her, but Naia chose Team Blake!

Via her blog on The Voice official website, Naia shared:

When I started singing, Blake turned around right away! I couldn’t believe it! I was in! Really? Then, towards the end of the song, Cee Lo turned also! TWO coaches!? AMAZING! I just felt so blessed and happy.

The Voice: Team Blake Recap – Week 1

The Voice

Season two of NBC’s The Voice is underway and our favorite, Blake Shelton, is back representing country music!

Big Country, as he has been dubbed by fellow coach and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, has so far chosen three team members.

RaeLynn

We previously introduced you to Blake’s first team member, RaeLynn. The 17-year-old from Baytown, Texas auditioned with a song closely connected to Blake by going with a track by his wife, Miranda Lambert‘s, band. RaeLynn kicked off Season 2 by performing a really great cover of the Pistol Annies‘, “Hell On Heels.”

The team members are all keeping blogs on The Voice official website. You should check out the complete posts, but here is a snippet of what RaeLynn had to say about joining Team Blake:

Fast forward and here I am, on Blake Shelton’s team! I’m honored to be led by one of my musical inspirations. AND so excited about this opportunity and being on The Voice!

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Dia & Meg Frampton of Meg & Dia

megANDdia.

It’s been a few months since Dia Frampton was named the runner-up of NBC’s first season of “The Voice.” The Team Blake Shelton finalist was just shy of first place by less than 2% between herself and Javier. We caught up with Dia, and her equally as talented and lovely sister Meg, to get all the details on their lives after The Voice, the new album, robots, why people on the internet are mean, if Meg would ever consider trying out for a new season of “The Voice,” and if it’ll be Dia Frampton or Meg & Dia touring with Blake Shelton on his 2012 “Well Lit & Amplified” tour starting in January. See if your questions made the cut below.

Dia also reveals to us her new album release date and title, her single, and the details on a song she recorded with Blake Shelton.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Elenowen

Elenowen. photo credit: Monique Porter.

We had the chance to catch up with married music duo Elenowen from The Voice. They were the first group to be a part of Team Blake, but unfortunately were sent home in the battle rounds. We caught up with them to see what they’ve been up to since The Voice, working with Reba McEntire, if they still live in the basement, if Blake Shelton is still in touch with them, and what fans can expect from them the next year.

They’re part three of our “Catching Up With The Voice” feature.
