Cassadee Pope Makes History With Debut Single

Cassadee Pope WATT

As we have recently reported, Big Machine recording artist Cassadee Pope‘s debut single, “Wasting All These Tears,” was RIAA certified as Platinum for moving one million units. Achieving Platinum status is a feat in itself, but, if you are familiar with Cassadee, you know that this young artist constantly strives for more in her budding country music career.

Well, this comes as no exception, as Cassadee not only received high honors from RIAA, but also broke a country music record in the process. With Cassadee’s certification, she becomes the first solo female country artist to achieve a Platinum-certified debut single since Taylor Swift‘s 2006 release of “Tim McGraw.”

Congratulations to Cassadee on leaving her footprint on history! You are doing country music proud and are representing female artists beautifully!

Sarah Darling‘s “Blackbird,” a remake of the Paul McCartney penned Beatles classic, will be featured in the 200th episode of CBS’ Criminal Minds at 9 p.m. EST/PST tonight.

Darling was also in the news last week, receiving a nod from country music superstar Carrie Underwood in an interview with Glam, who said she would like to see more females doing really well in country music. “The ones who are out there — myself, Miranda, Reba, Taylor — are doing really well. I would just love to see more,” Underwood said. “It makes me a little sad when I do look at the charts and I see one female in the top 20. I really hope this is the year of the woman, and I really hope that there are some really breakthrough, amazing female artists that people can hear.” She goes on to specifically reference Darling, saying she has “such a sweet voice.”

Tune in to CBS to watch Criminal Minds tonight, and download Darling’s version of “Blackbird” here.

Florida Georgia Line Tops the Year-End Charts

FGL

According to Billboard, Florida Georgia Line, the duo of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, not only topped several year-end recaps but also brought their record label, Republic Nashville, to new heights. At the close of the year, Florida Georgia Line landed in the Number 1 spot on the Hot Country Songs recap with “Cruise” and placed two more tracks in the Top 20 with “Get Your Shine On” at Number 7 and “Round Here” at Number 16. Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes, Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift round out the top five on the Hot Country Songs 2013 Recap.

Florida Georgia Line, which signed with Republic Nashville in mid-2012, also clinched the top spots on the Country Airplay Artists and Country Streaming Songs Artists recaps. Coming in behind the duo on the latter tally are, once again, the combination of Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton.

“Cruise” also ended the year in the Number 1 spot on the Country Digital Songs recap while “Get Your Shine On” places at Number 9. Darius Rucker’s remake of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” finishes at Number 2, followed by Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” (featuring Pistol Annies), Tim McGraw’s “Highway Don’t Care” (with Taylor Swift) and Luke Bryan’s “Crash My Party.”

REVIEW: Danielle Bradbery’s Self-Titled Debut Album

Danielle Bradbery Album

Exactly eight months ago today, a sweet, Texas-born and raised sixteen-year-old named Danielle Bradbery performed Taylor Swift‘s “Mean” on NBC’s The Voice. Fast forward three months and Danielle Bradbery was a household name as Season Four’s champion from Team Blake, coached by country megastar, Blake Shelton. Danielle’s self-titled debut album with record label Big Machine Records hit stores and iTunes today, and fans will not be disappointed in the project they have been anticipating since Danielle was declared “The Voice.”

Danielle’s album — a fifteen-track disc with four popular covers, two previously recorded songs, and nine originals — offers fans a little bit of everything from the youngest winner of The Voice and Team Blake protege. Fans are already familiar with tracks 12-15, all songs performed by Danielle on live television during the competition. “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Born To Fly,” “Maybe It Was Memphis,” and “Who I Am” are some of Danielle’s fans’ favorite covers from The Voice, and are a throwback to Danielle’s music industry roots and a way to pay homage to where she came from.

CMA Awards Favorite Moments

Blake and Miranda

Another CMA Awards night has come and gone, but certain moments left lasting impressions on our staff. If you follow us on Twitter, you know we spent the majority of the show cracking on Sheryl Crow‘s hair, Dolly Parton‘s assets, Zac Brown Band‘s beards, and Kacey Musgraves‘ b****y resting face. While those particular things set the stage for our jokes, puns, and #sarcastictweets, our staff compiled a list of our other favorite moments of the night. The following are those award show memories that are ingrained in our minds:

Entertainer of the Year Nominees: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift

Nicole: It’s not an easy choice here, and there’s definitely the obvious inclusion of George Strait for sentimental reasons, but I have to give this to Blake. He played a huge summer tour, anchors the judging panel on The Voice season after season and put out quite a few huge hits. He’s arguably the biggest thing in country right now so I have to give it to him.

Jessica: Luke Bryan has had a huge year, and I think he’s taken one of the top spots in country music right now. You can’t deny those dance moves!

Jennifer: Luke Bryan – With sold out shows across the country and yet another #1 hit song (despite Zac Brown’s disdain for said song), no one is killing it on radio or on the road quite like Luke.

Jeanna: Blake Shelton or Taylor Swift? Both have really helped broaden the country music audience and impact the genre in such a significant way. Taylor is massive with her sold out tours worldwide and cross-over success. Blake is the face of the genre at the present time, and he has helped put country on the map and bring it to focus with The Voice. Luke Bryan had a big year and is a possibility too. However, I feel like it’s Blake’s time for this right now so I’m giving this one to him.
