Sunny Sweeney signs with Thirty Tigers

Sunny Sweeney.

Country music singer/songwriter Sunny Sweeney has signed with Thirty Tigers and will begin working on her next album.

Earlier this year, the Longview, Texas native was nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s New Female Vocalist of the Year Award. Previously signed to both Big Machine Records and its sister label Republic Nashville, Sweeney released two critically acclaimed albums: Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame and Concrete. The latter album featured the Top Ten hit “From a Table Away,” which was the highest charting Billboard debut single from a female country artist in four years.

About her new home, Sunny said:

“I have long been a fan of Thirty Tigers and the amazing roster of talent they have worked with through the years, and am thrilled to become part of their family. I can’t wait to share my new music with my fans!”

Congratulations to Sunny! We can’t wait to see what she has in store next for country music.

So, who can you expect to see at the Fremont Street Experience, performing on this monster screen? An incredible line-up consisting of co-headliners Gary Allan and Jake Owen, along with Randy Houser, Chris Janson, Jana Kramer, Kip Moore, Joe Nichols and Sunny Sweeney!

Sunny Sweeney earns ACM New Female Vocalist nomination

Sunny Sweeney.

Texas born and raised, Sunny Sweeney has long been heralded for her vocal prowess, and now she can add the recognition of an ACM Award nomination to her list of accolades as earlier this week Sunny was unveiled as one of the three nominees in The Academy of Country Music Awards’ New Female Vocalist of the Year category.

Voting for the distinguished award will begin on VoteACM.com on Monday, January 21 and remain open through Feb. 4 with the winner of the category continuing on to compete for the title of New Artist of the Year Award at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards live on April 7, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

On being nominated, Sunny shares:

Getting nominated for ACM New Female Vocalist is maybe the coolest thing to happen to me. I’ve been playing country music in honky-tonks and dive bars for almost a decade, so finally getting this kind of recognition is absolutely HUGE!  I started out playing in Texas for beer and cheeseburgers, so this is just so gratifying!” she says laughing. “In all seriousness, it’s validating to know that the ACM considers my kind of country music and my voice something worth keeping an eye and an ear on, and for that, I’m very grateful.”

Sweeney shows off her sense of humor in her ACM campaign video with a spoof of Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg’s infamous SNL Digital Short, “Dick In A Box.” View Sweeney’s version, in which she implores fans to “Click In The Box,” HERE.

PHOTO: Sunny Sweeney Plays 30th Opry Show

Republic Nashville artist Sunny Sweeney has reason to celebrate this week after playing her 30th show at the Grand Ole Opry since her 2007 debut on Saturday night. Each performance is still a big moment for the Texan singer, who, over her career, has opened up for acts like Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams Jr., Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, and Darius Rucker. She wrapped up a headlining spot earlier this month on the Country Throwdown Tour. Sunny explains why each Opry night is still so special to her:

“I love, love, love to play The Grand Ole Opry!! Every time I play there it feels like the first time and I cannot get enough of being there. I’m in awe of its history and how gracious all the members are to new, young artists like myself. This time, Larry Gatlin introduced us and we had a blast!!” said Sweeney.

Sunny is busy writing and working on her follow-up to her 2011 album “Concrete.” The singer-songwriter penned 10 of the 11 tracks on “Concrete,” which included the highest debut for a female country solo artist since Taylor Swift for “From A Table Away.” Sunny will be having a busy summer ahead of her, with festival dates opening for superstars Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Jerrod Niemann and many more of today’s hottest country acts.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Sunny Sweeney

Sunny Sweeney.

I had the chance to speak with the beautiful, and talented, Sunny Sweeney before she hit the stage at Darius & Friends Benefit Concert. The show at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville was the unofficial kick-off to CMA Fest 2012 and turned into a standing room only event, but we found some calm before the storm backstage to chat for a few minutes.

We spoke with the Texan about her plans to come to Canada in the new future, her favorite tour moment, the Throwdown Tour, writing with Eric Paslay, why she doesn’t party on the road, and more! Check out our exclusive interview with Sunny Sweeney below:

Storme Warren Named NRA Country’s Artist Of The Month

Storme Warren Courtesty GAC

TV and radio personality Storme Warren has been named the NRA Country Artist of the Month for April.

Storme’s selection puts him in company with Craig Morgan, Justin Moore, Lee Brice, Montgomery Gentry, Sunny Sweeney and Trace Adkins who have teamed up with NRA Country to celebrate their support of our brave men and women in uniform, appreciation for the great outdoors, and love of family.

Warren recently served as the emcee of the 2nd Annual NRA Country/ACM Celebrity Shoot in Las Vegas.  His participation in that event and his love of the great outdoors make him a natural fit with NRA Country Artist of the Month promotion.

“There is nothing better than soaking up the great outdoors.  I spend most of my free time either by a river with my fly rod or hiking the trails with my kids and mutts,” says Warren.

As part of the April promotion, fans can register to win an autographed Headline Country shirt.  Visit the NRA Country website from now through the end of April to register to win.
