VIDEO: Kelly Clarkson Covers Shania Twain

Kelly Clarkson - Jessica Crans Photography

Kelly Clarkson has always had a special bond with her fans, and has involved them in her career since the beginning. After all, Clarkson and her fans have literally been together since she first stepped on the American Idol stage back in 2002. The multi-Grammy award winner is currently on the road, and takes the time to acknowledge the fan support at each tour stop by thanking them for voting for her and being with her the last 10 years.

Throughout the Stronger Tour, the powerhouse singer has been taking fan requests via Twitter. Every show, she picks a different request to perform. Alternating between her own songs and covers, she paid homage to Shania Twain by performing “You’re Still The One” at her tour stop in Windsor, Ontario last week. Of course, Clarkson and her band did a beautiful job with the song.

We love the fan request idea, and it has given us some amazing covers from KC.

The Stronger Tour is a must see! For tour dates and information visit: www.kellyclarkson.com.

PS: It is not a country cover, but Kelly did a fantastic cover of Paramore’s “The Only Exception” over the weekend. Check it out here: http://youtu.be/44YuCZIPmjw

Shania Twain Teaming up with Michael Buble

Looks like Michael Buble really is a country music fan. A few years after letting Blake Shelton record a country version of his hit song “Home,” Buble has agreed to be part of another country music project… this time with fellow Canadian Shania Twain, CTV is reporting.

The pair have recorded a duet version of “White Christmas” for Buble’s Christmas album, which he sounds to be pretty excited about.

“There’s a couple duets that I really like,” Buble said of the new collection. “One with Shania Twain, which is really fantastic. ’White Christmas,’ we did. We did it bouncy. I was inspired by ‘Home Alone,’ the Drifters.”

There has been no official release date for the album as of today, however, it’s pretty safe to assume it will be out for this Holiday season. The album will be produced by David Foster and Bob Rock. The track list hasn’t yet been finalized, but other songs already recorded include “Jingle Bells” with the U.K. swing trio the Puppini Sisters, “Blue Christmas,” and his version of Mariah Carey’s hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Buble also has an original tune penned for the record.

Buble previously released a Christmas EP in 2003, but says that this is what he wanted to do when he established himself as an artist.

Shania Twain Honored as Top-Selling Female Country Artist

Shania Twain was the center of another ceremony in Nashville this week, as her producers, and friends, were on hand to celebrate Shania reaching over 75 million worldwide album sales, becoming the highest-selling female in country music history. Buddy Cannon and Noro Wilson to recognize this achievement in the Citizen Club on Thursday.

The producer of Shania’s new single, “Today is Your Day,” Nathan Chapman, and Ray Kennedy who mastered the song, were also on hand to celebrate.

“The purpose of writing ‘Today Is Your Day’ in the first place was self-inspiration,” Shania said. “I was talking to myself and saying, ‘Today is your day. You can do it.’ But the decision to even write the song and share it was a big decision for me, to find myself as a songwriter again, independently, for the very first time after all these years.”

What’s your favorite Shania album and single?
