Scotty McCreery’s “Girls” Goes Gold

Scotty McCreery

So far, so golden for Scotty McCreery.

His “The Trouble With Girls” has become his second consecutive gold single for reaching sales of 500,000 units.  The song follows Scotty’s debut hit, “I Love You This Big,” which was certified gold late last year.  Both songs come from his platinum selling debut album, Clear As Day, which sold more than 1 million copies in just three months.

“Having the first single go gold was crazy, but having the second single go gold and to see the response it is getting in our shows is incredible,” says Scotty, talking about the current Virtual Reality Tour with Brad Paisley. “It’s a huge honor.”

Scotty is currently out on the road with Brad Paisley.  In addition to the great response from fans, Scotty is also becoming Brad’s favorite prank victim.  During the tour, Paisley has shown doctored photos and fake tabloid headlines of Scotty to the crowd.  Scotty says he waited for the perfect moment to strike back by dressing up as Paisley on stage.

“When we thought the time was right, we put it all together and went out there,” Scotty says. “He loved it! He was cracking up. So now I am sleeping with one eye open.”

The American Idol winner is up for another prize:  Academy of Country Music New Artist of the Year.   Voting for that award starts March 19th at  www.VoteACM.com.  We’ll find out who wins at the 47th annual ACM ceremony on April 1st.

Scotty McCreery Hits Major Milestone

Scotty McCreery.

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery is starting 2012 off with a bang. His debut country album “Clear As Day” has just been certified platinum by the RIAA for selling over a million copies. Billboard’s Top New Artist of 2011 must be feeling good: the album has only been out for three months!

Scotty says the platinum certification is a big milestone in his young career:

“It means the world to me,” he says. “It’s one of the highest honors you can get with your album and it’s a huge testament to the loyalty of country music fans and how great they have been to me this year. 2011 was absolutely an incredible, life-changing year for me. I want to say a huge thanks to the fans for this.”

“Clear As Day” had a number one debut on the Billboard Top 200 charts and the Top Country Album charts, making Scotty the youngest man in country music history to open at the top of the all-genre album chart with a debut release. It was also the best-selling album of any country artist in 2011, holding the spot at the top of Billboard for six weeks.

Scotty’s single “The Trouble With Girls” was also certified gold by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 back in November. The platinum certification followed seven weeks later.

“Never in a million years did I dream that the album would go platinum in three months,” he says. “Never in a million years did I dream that the album would go platinum. It’s wild! It’s going to take me a few months or years to really wrap my head around it.”

Scotty is blown away by his success already, and he’s thankful for being included in the December 17th issue of Billboard magazine. He was named the number one Top Country Artist of 2011 in the year-end issue, and ranked number nine on the list of Top Country Album Artists.

“That is a huge honor,” he says. “I’m honored to be included in that list of great artists.”

Scotty heads off on his first country music tour Thursday with Brad Paisley. The tour name was recently changed to the “Virtual Reality Tour 2012″ and he’ll join The Band Perry on what should be one of the top tours of the year.

Brad Paisley Renames 2012 Tour

Brad Paisley

As you know, Brad Paisley will hit the road next week with special guests, The Band Perry and Scotty McCreery.

One change… a new tour name!

Previously dubbed the The Camobunga! 2012 World Tour, Paisley decided the tour name just did not quite fit his vision. After tour preparation and rehearsals, Paisley decided on the Virtual Reality World Tour 2012.

He shared:

“When you see plans and sketches on paper it’s one thing but to actually see it in real life is something else, and that’s what happened to me when we were in tour rehearsals. When I saw the visuals and how exciting and sometimes mind-blowing they were I just felt the tour name needed to reflect what the fans were going to see. For two hours each night of the tour they can be taken away from reality – literally.”

The Virtual Reality World Tour 2012 is being presented by Chevy. For more information and to purchase tickets, check out www.bradpaisley.com. It is sure to be a fantastic show!
