CONTEST: Win An Autographed Copy of Sara Evans’ Stronger – WINNER ANNOUNCED

Sara Evans.

WINNER ANNOUNCED: Congratulations to Ted E.! He’s the winner of an autographed copy of Sara Evans’ “Stronger.”

Sara Evans has one of the best stories of the year. The CMA female vocalist of the year nominee made a huge comeback with the Hillary Scott co-write “A Little Bit Stronger” earlier in the year. The song launched her back to the top of the charts and put her on the track for a big comeback to the country music charts after staying out of the spotlight for a few years.

She’s back with her second single off of “Stronger,” and this one is just as good. “My Heart Can’t Tell You No” was released back in June to country radio, and debuted at number 54 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Charts. The second single off of her new studio album features alternate endings depending on where you were watching the music video.

You can win yourself an autographed copy of Sara Evans’ “Stronger” thanks to Sony Music Nashville. To enter, fill out your information in the form under the “Read more” tag, and tell us who the original artist was of “My Heart Can’t Tell You No.” The contest is open starting immediately until Friday at noon EST. We will announce the winner later that night. The contest is open everywhere except where prohibited. Only one entry per person, please. Good luck! The winner will be chosen randomly from correct entries received.

CMT Festival Was The Place To Party This Weekend

Rascal Flatts.

Oro Station, Ontario, Canada was the place to be this weekend for any country music fan. The first annual CMT Music Festival went off without a hitch, with thousands upon thousands of hardcore rednecks and country fans jam-packed into the fields to hear the best of what country music had to offer. The three-day festival featured superstar acts like Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Sara Evans, Colt Ford, and even Ronnie Dunn. With early estimates of nearly 10,000 fans a night at Burl’s Creek Family Park; there’s no way this festival doesn’t return again next year.

The music festival kicked off with a performance by Hank, who unfortunately were forced to play before gates were open to the public. The die hard hillbillies packed at the entrances to try to race for their spots did hear them, and the second the gates were open there was a rush of people running to get their spots by the main stage.

Day Three: The Capital Hoedown ends with a Party

The final day of the second annual Capital Hoedown country music festival ended with a bang in Ottawa on Saturday night. With a day packed with stars and gates opening at noon, earlier by three hours than the first two days, country music fans in Canada’s capital were ready to party from the start. While the temperatures were hot and hard for some fans to take, it didn’t stop the fans from packing in to the general admission and VIP areas all day long, even after two nights of partying. And it really was partying: Friday night after the crowd was forced out of the park after Kenny Chesney, security found one fan passed out in a porta-potty.

The day kicked off right with Hoedown Showdown winners Wyatt introducing themselves to the crowd. The band won the chance to open up the final day of the Capital Hoedown with a contest that included a live competition in front of judges for who would get the line-up spot. The boys merged rock with country, and it was clear how excited they really were for the opportunity: they took over the whole stage and were all smiles even with the blazing heat. Their families were also in attendance at the festival, and watched proudly. The most memorable performance was their radio-friendly “Airplanes.”

Sara Evans’ “A Little Bit Stronger” Goes Platinum

Sara Evans.

Sara Evans’ “A Little Bit Stronger” has now been certified platinum by the RIAA this weekend in digital sales for selling over one million downloads. Co-written by Lady Antebelum’s Hillary Scott, Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey, the single exceeded all of Evans expectations. Scott wrote the song after a tough break-up in her life, and has said the song is personal to her even though she is in a good relationship now.

“This song has exceeded all of my expectations. I knew ‘A Little Bit Stronger’ was a hit the first time I heard it and what makes it even more special are the stories I hear from people about how this song has touched them. I am so blessed to have been able to record such an amazing song, written by HILLARY SCOTT, LUKE LAIRD and HILLARY LINDSEY, who are all dear friends of mine.”

Evans is featured in the July issue of Shape Magazine in their Fit & Famous section, as well as in Self Magazine’s feature on country stars’ favorite recipes, alongside Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Miranda Lambert.
