Radney Foster produced your White Lines and Stars album. How did that come together and what was it like working with him?

Pure luck! Mitch and I put together a 4-track acoustic demo and a friend passed it on to him. He called us a few days later and the rest is history. Working with him was an amazing learning experience. We are very fortunate to have a mentor like Radney!

You guys met in high school but didn’t start writing together right away. What changed that and what was the first song you wrote together?

Our love for independent Texas music. Once we figured out we had that in common, we started writing our own stuff. The 1st song we wrote was called “Texas” and it was terrible, but hey, you’ve got to start somewhere!

How old were you when you first got interested in music and thought you could make a career out of it?

Do you have a dream collaboration partner: either with writing, singing or producing?

Ryan Adams. Other than that, it is a dream come true to work with the people we worked with on this record. Radney Foster, Jay Clementi, George Ducas, Darrell Brown among others.

You’ve said in another interview that you aren’t fond of being labelled in one genre, but what is it about country music that draws you to it?

It is real. Nothing is hidden in country music. We speak the truth. We talk about real things happening in our lives.

You guys used to be known as the Texas High Life, but when you went to Nashville you changed your sound and name. How difficult of a decision was that to make?

Not that difficult. The Texas High Life thing was coming to an end anyways and we were looking to change our thing anyways. It has been pretty smooth.

The Texan duo comprised of Mitch McBain and Blake Myers who named their band after the street they grew up together on.
