Big Machine Label Group For Sale?

Scott Borchetta & Taylor Swift. photo credit: Sara de Boer / Retna Ltd.

The industry is abuzz today with news that Sony Corporation is interested in buying Big Machine Label Group, home of Taylor Swift, Reba, Martina McBride and Rascal Flatts, reports Business Week.

The deal, worth a reported $200 million, would put Big Machine’s current President and Founder Scott Borchetta at the helm of Sony Nashville.

In an interesting twist however, Universal Music might be looking to get in on the action and make a bid of their own. Universal currently distributes all of the Big Machine releases, a deal that is in place through 2012.

Reba Will “Never Forget” Plane Crash 20 Years Ago

Reba McEntire’s St. Louis concert will be pretty personal to the country music legend. It’s close to the 20th anniversary of the tragic plane crash that killed her touring band, with several of those musicians from the area. Terry Jackson, Kirk Cappello and Tony Saputo were among the crew and band members who were lost in the accident. In an interview with St Louis Today, Reba admits she remembers them every time she steps on-stage and realizes that every day could be your last.

“Every time I get on stage, I do reflect about that. It’s something you never forget. There’s always that feeling on stage that they’re there with me, and I miss my guys and girls so much. We miss all of them. It pulls at your heartstrings, and my heart still goes out to their families. During this 20th anniversary, we have to remember how great they were, what they taught us, and that you have to remember each day could be your last.”

Read the full interview HERE, where she also discusses covering Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy,” the “All The Woman I Am” tour, and how she’s Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina’s number one fan.

Reba Designs Pink Boots For Breast Cancer Awareness

Reba

Country music artists make me proud to be a fan. Several artists are lending a hand to the fight against breast cancer, and Reba is helping to lead the way.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Reba Footwear has partnered with the Brown Shoe Company to donate $20,000 to Susan G. Komen For The Cure. To support the initiative and honor all of those affected by the disease, Reba Footwear has designed and dedicated a special limited edition pink cowboy boot called “Collins.” The line is sold exclusively through Dilard’s.

Join the fight against breast cancer, and as Reba says “Give cancer the boot.”
