Chat Live with Reba!

Reba-McEntire-2-2

You may have heard of Reba McEntire. Maybe just once, right? On November 2, 2012 at 6:00pm EST/5:00pm CST, Reba will be hosting a live chat before the premiere of her new show, “Malibu Country.” After the live chat, Reba will head to Twitter to live tweet with her fans as the pilot episode airs, at 8:30pm EST/7:30pm CST on ABC.

Taylor Swift Removes Capital Hoedown Date From Site

hoedown-300x130

Although several of the artists that comprised the star-studded lineup for this year’s Capital Hoedown backed out last week, the festival is still looking to move ahead.

However, although not confirmed, they may just have to do that without the performance of Taylor Swift after the Ottawa date was removed from her official website. Although the Hoedown site still lists Swift as appearing, it also lists several other artists that have backed out, including Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire, Ronnie Dunn, The Band Perry and Terri Clark.

Yesterday, Hoedown founder Denis Benoit stated that changes to the artist lineup will be announced shortly. In addition, he was quoted saying, “We can assure everyone that there will be favourable additions to the line-up that fans will be pleased with.”

The statement also made clear that the show will now take place at an undisclosed venue that will be announced soon, but Benoit assures it is a large private site only minutes away from the original location. Last week, the City of Ottawa cancelled its agreement with Hoedown to host the event at Walter Baker Park due to a payment that was never made to the City.

Ticketholders who are no longer interested will be able to receive refunds starting June 19th.

Stay tuned as we will let fans know the new venue and changes to the lineup as they are made available to us.

Big Machine and Clear Channel Announce Groundbreaking Agreement

2208459-2207259-Big-Machine-Clear-Channel

The Big Machine Label Group is home to such artists as Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Eden’s Edge on Big Machine Records, as well as Reba McEntire, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert, The Mavericks and Thomas Rhett on Valory Music Co. The group announced today that they are partnering with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment to align their business interests and accelerate growth and innovation in digital radio to the benefit of music fans and radio listeners everywhere.

Through this agreement, Big Machine (and its artists) will become the first record company to directly participate in Clear Channel’s terrestrial broadcast radio revenues.  For Big Machine Label President and CEO Scott Borchetta, it was a no brainer. Borchetta said, “In Clear Channel, I found partners who shared my big-picture view of how we could structure an agreement to benefit all involved. Not only does this partnership enable Big Machine to participate in terrestrial broadcast revenues, but we are also helping to grow digital radio – a great opportunity for all of us and a breakthrough opportunity for Big Machine artists.”

“Scott Borchetta has reinvented the music business in many important ways over the years, from distribution and artist development to promotion and advertising,” said Bob Pittman, Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel. “Focusing that same creativity on how best to grow the music business, Scott has developed this new model with us to let his labels and artists participate in the revenue of broadcast radio immediately and in digital radio as it builds. This is a big step, but we think this investment is an opportunity worth taking to align our interests in all of our revenue streams and grow digital listening to its full potential with record labels and their artists as our partners. This landmark agreement creates a structure that makes sense for both our companies – but most of all for music fans.”

“Today, 98 percent of our listening is terrestrial broadcast and 2 percent digital – with record labels and artists only paid for the 2 percent,” said John Hogan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. “This new agreement expands label and artist participation from just digital to terrestrial broadcast radio revenues in one comprehensive framework that will give all of us a great incentive to drive the growth of the digital radio industry and allow everyone to participate financially in its growth. This market-based solution helps bring the best in music to radio listeners wherever they want to hear it.”

Reba McEntire & The Band Perry Tour Updates

Reba McEntire.

With touring season kicking off for country music over the next few weeks, fans are marking down special dates in their calenders to travel to see some of their favorite artists.

While Reba McEntire might not be touring as much these days as she’s filming her new sitcom “Malibu Country,” country music’s Queen still has a busy enough schedule. With only a handful of dates set so far for 2012, she modified her tour schedule this morning to take out one Canadian date – her Ottawa, August 10th headlining date. See Reba’s tour dates here. The next tour date for the Oklahoma native is June 8th in Thackerville, OK.

The Band Perry, who are opening for Brad Paisley‘s “Virtual Reality Tour” also made a change to their tour calender today. The superstar sibling trio also no longer list their Ottawa date in support of Brad, which was scheduled for August 12th. The trio have a busy year ahead of them, and we’ll be at their fan club party next week at CMA Fest! Their next tour date in support of Brad is Friday night at Jones Beach, New York. They’ll also be making a stop on the TODAY show on Friday, so keep an eye on NBC in the morning to catch the group!

We’ll be at CMA Fest next week in Nashville – country music’s party of the year. What are you most looking forward to next week?

UPDATE: Terri Clark has also removed her Ottawa date from her tour page. She is now listed as part of the Boots & Hearts festival on the same date, August 12th. The Hoedown, however, still lists all acts – even Ronnie Dunn, whom we had confirmed exclusively has cancelled his date.

Kelly Clarkson Talks About Her New Life & Style

exclusive-kelly-clarkson-new-body-new-boyfriend

Country girl at heart, Kelly Clarkson, graces the cover of the newest edition of Life & Style magazine. In this article, Kelly opens up about her new physique and, buzz worthy, new relationship.

The message Kelly sends to readers … she hasn’t crossed over to the “dark side” and allowed the pressures of celebrity to get to her, forcing her to lose weight. The “Stronger” singer (pun intended) did it for herself! Although, her boyfriend, Brandon BlackstockReba McEntire‘s stepson and CEO of Starstruck Management Group (also manager of Blake Shelton) – DOES have a little bit to do with Kelly’s choice to get into better shape.

Kelly told Life & Style, “No one wants to be untoned when you’re dating someone.” However, while Kelly and Brandon do not work out together, they do share the same trainer. “We did that once, and I don’t like huffin’ and puffin’ in front of my man and looking all red and gross and sweaty.”

For more on Kelly and other stars sporting notable body transformations, pick up the newest copy of Life & Style Weekly. And don’t forget to tune into Duets on ABC every Thursday night at 8:00pm EST to see both Kelly and Jennifer Nettles perform with their hand-selected, amateur partners.

Capital Hoedown Still On

Capital Hoedown

After rumors were circulating around Ottawa the last week, we have exclusively confirmed with the City of Ottawa that the Capital Hoedown is still on.  Organizers of Capital Hoedown Country Music Festival in Ottawa were unable to meet their payment deadline with the City of Ottawa last week, and were given an extension until 4 pm EST today to pay the $150,000 owed to the City for usage of city-owned property during the festival.

We reached Dan Chenier, Manager of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services with the City of Ottawa about the deadline the festival had to meet today, and he confirmed that organizers were able to make the $150,000 payment this afternoon. In a statement by Dan Chenier, he says:

The City of Ottawa works with all festival and event organizations to assist in the logistics of staging such events. We work with these organizations while, at the same time, protecting the interest of taxpayers. The City granted an extension to organizers of Capital Hoedown to meet financial obligations. The deadline was end of day today.

Organizers have met current financial obligations ($150,000), which is in addition to money already provided in March ($72,000). Hoedown has confirmed the wire transfer of $150,000 was made this afternoon to the city.

Rumors began circulating when fans noticed that headliners Brad Paisley, Ronnie Dunn and Sheryl Crow had removed Ottawa from their tour date pages. As reported in the Ottawa Sun yesterday, organizers were granted an extension until today to pay for the rental space for the Hoedown which left many fans questioning on Twitter and Facebook if the festival was still on.

This year’s line-up includes the only North American date for Taylor Swift, as well as The Band Perry, and Reba McEntire. Single day tickets are sold-out but 3-day passes are still available on capitalhoedown.net.

VIDEO: Reba McEntire & Skylar Laine

Skylar Laine

Last night’s American Idol finale was an all-star finish, with a line-up more like that of an award show than of a reality television finale. While we won’t spoil who was crowned season eleven’s winner last night, we want to share one of the best performances of the night which featured country contestant Skylar Laine and the Queen of Country herself, Reba McEntire. The two teamed up for Reba’s hit “Turn On The Radio,” and the always gracious Reba made sure to give Skylar center stage for most of it.

Check out their performance below and let us know what was your favorite part of last night’s finale:
