Sassy country music trio Pistol Annies made an invasion into Canada this weekend. Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley made their Canadian television debut during the Canadian Country Music Awards with a performance of their latest autobiographical single “Takin’ Pills.”

The Canadian Country Music Association Awards was definitely enough to remind Canadians of the amazing talent that represents us in the country music industry. Tonight (09/09), we saw some of the best of the best rock the stage in Saskatoon and accept awards that they were most deserving of.

Dean Brody opened the show with his hit “Canadian Girls,” kicking off a show that would see him win two awards: Best Male Artist and Album of the Year.

Other country faves taking home hardware at this year’s show included Carolyn Dawn Johnson, who won Female Artist of the Year and Hey Romeo, this year’s Group or Duo of the Year. Ottawa’s sweetest and brightest new talent, Kira Isabella, took home the Rising Star award. The Stellas, who have been out on the road with Johnny Reid, took home the award for CMT Video of the Year for their song “In This House.” Johnny, who had a whopping eight nominations tonight, was the recipient of the Fans’ Choice award.

Pistol Annies Making Opry Debut for Loretta Lynn

A very special night is planned at the Grand Ole Opry to help celebrate Loretta Lynn‘s 50th anniversary at the Opry. Loretta, who joined the Opry on September 25th, 1962, will be joined by Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack, Trace Adkins, and the Pistol Annies will make their Opry debut on the special night. Also making her appearance is Loretta’s sister, Crystal Gayle.

“There is no one at the OPRY, in Country music, or on Earth, quite like Loretta Lynn,” said Opry VP/GM Pete Fisher. “Her influence as a recording artist and songwriter reaches across musical genres, cultures, and generations. She’s earned her place among America’s musical icons, and we look forward to celebrating 50 years of Opry membership with her next month.”

The show will take place on Tuesday, September 25th – her exact 50th anniversary date. Tickets are available at opry.com.

VIDEO: Miranda Lambert Tears Up

It takes a lot for Texan spitfire Miranda Lambert to tear up over something, but in the preview for the season premiere of Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta, she does just that. The Pistol Annies star in the season premiere, which airs next Friday, August 24th, on TLC. Angaleena Presley, “Holler Annie,” brings along Miranda “Lone Star Annie” and Ashley Monroe “Hippie Annie” to help her pick out her perfect wedding dress for her wedding to Miranda’s tour manager. The pair eloped earlier this year.

DVR Alert: Pistol Annies on Say Yes To The Dress

TLC is kicking off their brand new season of Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta with some very special guests on August 24th. The Pistol Annies will be starring in the episode as Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe help out Angaleena Presley in finding the perfect wedding dress for her wedding to Miranda’s tour manager, Jordan Powell, back in May.

“There is no way I would want to do this without them. I’m eloping, so this is the way to feel like a bride and do bride stuff.”

The episode airs August 24th at 9 pm EST on TLC.

 

Miranda Lambert Cancels Scranton Date

Due to schedule conflicts, Miranda Lambert will be unable to bring her “ON FIRE” tour to Scranton, PA this year. The concert, which was originally scheduled for July 7th, was forced to be postponed when Miranda suffered from an illness. The tour stop was to feature Little Big Town and Thomas Rhett alongside Miranda and the Pistol Annies.

Miranda is “regrettably unable to make up her performance” and apologies to her fans who were hoping to see her. Refunds will be available at original point of purchase for all tickets.

Country music trio Pistol Annies will be making an appearance on The View talk show next week on ABC. The girls will be performing their new single “Takin’ Pills” on Wednesday, July 25th. Actress Jessica Alba will also be on the program. Check your local listings for air times.

The girls released their music video for “Takin’ Pills” earlier this month. They’ll be returning to the studio as a group in November to work on their sophomore album, the follow up to the critically acclaimed “Hell on Heels.” What was your favorite track from their debut album?

Canadians can’t wait for the nation’s biggest night in country music! The countdown has begun for the Canadian Country Music Association Awards which will be held in Saskatoon, SK on September 9 at 8PM. Fans can tune in to CBC to catch the awards as they air LIVE.

“All of today’s nominees deserve ample recognition for their excellence as well as their tremendous contribution to Canadian country music,” said Don Green, Executive Director, CCMA. “This year’s nominees reflect the depth of musical talent in Canada, and we’re so proud to be able to recognize those artists – both established and emerging – who have impacted Canadians with their music.”

A personal fave, Johnny Reid, leads the nominations with a total of eight. Country cutie Dean Brody follows close behind with seven of his own.

Performers expected to light up the stage at the Awards include Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies, Eric Church, Paul Brandt, Dean Brody, George Canyon, Johnny Reid, Deric Ruttan, Gord Bamford, Terri Clark, Chad Brownlee and High Valley.

Country music’s firecracker Miranda Lambert made a quick stop backstage at the 2012 CMA Music Festival to answer a few questions before hitting the stage later that night. Miranda, who was feeling pretty sick all day, still found time to meet with the press backstage. Listen to the clips of her interview below:

Miranda, as you might notice from her voice in our clips, was forced to have the Pistol Annies and Raelynn fill in last minute for her at her fanclub party during CMA Fest, apologizes to the media and her fans for being sick. She has a pretty good idea why she was feeling under the weather, and where she got it from:
