REVIEW: Jo Dee Messina Live in Miami

Jo Dee Messina

Jo Dee Messina definitely underestimates herself when she sings the words “I’m Alright.” The definition of “alright” is satisfactory; acceptable; reliable; good. Jo Dee is leaps and bounds above “alright.” Jo Dee is phenomenal; extraordinary; remarkable; sensational. Just when you thought you signed, sealed, and delivered your list of top vocalists to ever exist, we insist that you add one more name to the top of that list!

On Saturday night, December 21, we were fortunate enough to be in Jo Dee’s presence in Miami, Florida, for a “holiday show” in a most intimate setting. Despite the fact that we had quite the scare on the way home from the show (which involved a homeless man, a bottle of windshield cleaner, and his refusal to let go of our windshield wiper until we opened the window in a terribly dangerous part of town to hand him his “dolla”), we had the night of our lives!

DVR Alert: Phil Vassar To Perform New Single on Fox

Phil Vassar.

Rodeowave’s Phil Vassar will be performing his new single “Don’t Miss Your Life” on Fox & Friends on Thursday morning. He’ll also be joining hit songwriters Al Anderson, Craig Wiseman, and host Bob DiPiero tomorrow at the CMA Songwriter Series at the Joe’s Pub in New York City.

Phil wrote “Don’t Miss Your Life” after a conversation with an older gentleman on a recent flight. The gentleman’s job required constant travel all over the United States, and made a comment about how much growing up he missed of his daughters’. He told Phil not to fall into the same trap, and the song was born.

“I started looking at pictures of my girls on my phone and realized I wasn’t in any of them,” said Phil. “That’s where this song came from.”

For a look at his new music video, check out his behind-the-scenes video posted on philvassar.com. “Don’t Miss Your Life” is out on radio right now, so let us know if you hear it!

VIDEO: Phil Vassar Talks New Christmas Music

Phil Vassar.

Phil Vassar recently sat down to discuss the five original songs on his Christmas record “Noel!”. Watch the video below to get the scoop on his first-ever Christmas album, the new tracks, and what convinced Phil to finally try his hand at Holiday classics:

Phil Vassar Releasing “Noel” Album

Phil Vassar.

Phil Vassar is planning on releasing his first holiday collection of songs on “Noel,” a 10-song album made for Christmas. The album features 5 original Country tunes and 5 holiday classics, and will be available at all digital music retailers, his official website, and on-sale at his concerts starting on November 22nd.

“I’ve always dreamed of making a Christmas record,” said Phil. “From the time I was a boy-listening to Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby and all the classic singers- I’ve wanted to do this.”

The album features tracks like “Doesn’t Feel Like Christmas Without You,” a jazz-inspired song co-written by Phil and his co-producer Dane Bryant. Texas swing master Ray Benson appears on the second track “Big Ole Texas Christmas.” Other original cuts on the album include “I Saved Christmas,”  “Santa’s Gone Hollywood,” and “Let’s Make A Little Christmas Tonight.”

“I love the way Christmas makes you feel,” he added “How it makes you slow down and re-evaluate your life. It makes you think about years past and look ahead toward things to come. But for me it’s the music that makes it all come alive.”

Phil also covers Christmas classics on the album such as “What Child Is This,” “Oh Come All Ye Faithful/Angels We Have Heard On High,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Merry Christmas Darling,” and, “Away In A Manger.”
