Opry brings back Easter Egg Hunt

For the second year, the Grand Ole Opry is teaming up with artists, radio stations, attractions, and other partners from across the country for a high-tech Easter Egg Hunt via Twitter this Friday, March 29. Prize eggs will be hidden around the Opry’s hometown of Nashville as well as in several mystery cities across the U.S., and fans will find clues to the eggs’ hiding spots by following @opry on Twitter throughout the day Friday.

Among the prizes up for grabs from the Opry and participating partners are tickets to see Alabama, Terri Clark, Kacey Musgraves, and more coming up at the Opry; autographed CDs and merchandise from several artists including Trace Adkins, Garth Brooks, Josh Turner, and Carrie Underwood; and more.

Fans will also be able to participate in a Virtual Opry Egg Hunt and enter for a chance to win a grand prize trip to Nashville by searching for virtual eggs throughout opry.com on Friday. Will you be joining in the hunt?

Opry Goes Pink Announces Additional Performers

On Tuesday, October 30th, the Fourth Annual Opry Goes Pink event will take place. Kellie Pickler (a country artist who has already made a huge impact this year, shaving her head in honor of her friend who was going through chemotherapy to fight her battle with Breast Cancer) will flip the switch on the Opry’s barn backdrop, turning it pink for the night. The show will also include performances by The Farm, Mindy Smith, The Isaacs, Kristen Kelly, Jimmy Dickens, Sarah Darling and others. There will also be activities recognizing breast cancer survivors and the continuing fight against the disease. Five dollars from every ticket sold will be donated to Women Rock For The Cure. To honor individual Breast Cancer Survivors and those we have lost to this disease, you can e-mail Women Rock For The Cure with the subject line “In Honor” or “In Memory” and the organization will include your loved ones’ names on the Opry Goes Pink Stage Screens on October 30th. VIDEO: Darius Rucker Invited To Become Member of Opry

Darius Rucker had quite a surprise waiting for him at his Grand Ole Opry performance last night. The Hootie and the Blowfish front-man was asked to become a member of the Opry during a cute question-and-answer session during his performance. After pretending to be an “Opry” fan in the audience who had a two-part question, Brad Paisley asked Darius if he still thought he was the worst poker player in the world. Then he asked the “True Believers” singer if he wanted to become the latest member of the Opry.

Gwen Sebastian Invited Back to Opry Stage

Flying Island’s Gwen Sebastian has been invited back to the Grand Ole Opry stage and she’s super excited about it! Gwen will make her second appearance on Friday, September 21. She made her debut appearance in June.

“As a country singer, being asked to sing at the Grand Ole Opry is a dream come trust and now being asked to come back is completely humbling and I’m absolutely honored to do it,” Sebastian gushed.

Her current single, “Met Him in a Motel Room” is climbing the charts while generating fans from radio and consumers from coast to coast.

Today’s picture of the day is Elektra Nashville country music trio THE FARM backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. The group played the Opry stage on April 6th, 2012 – which was exactly two years from the date the trio formed after an impromptu writing session in Nashville. It was that first song together that is currently serving as the trio’s lead single. “Home Sweet Home” is in the top 25 country singles currently being played on country radio.

The group originally made their debut as a songwriting trio on the Opry stage back in February, when I had the chance to sit down with them for an interview which will appear on our site later this week. THE FARM is made up of Nick Hoffman (fiddle, vocals), Damien Horne (vocals, keyboard, guitar) and Krista Marie (vocals, guitar). They performed with a full band on their April appearance, with both their first single “Home Sweet Home,” and “Be Grateful” which will also appear on their debut album.

Keith Urban invited to join the Opry

April 10, 2012 will be a day Keith Urban never forgets. At the All for the Hall concert event, Keith Urban was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry by Vince Gill, Rascal Flatts, Diamond Rio and the Oak Ridge Boys. We send our congratulations out to Keith. This is a huge honor and one we are sure he will never forget. Keith’s induction will take place on Saturday April 21st.

VIDEO: Martina McBride Turns The Opry Pink

Martina McBride, Kellie Pickler, Eden’s Edge and Lauren Alaina were some of the stars at last night’s Grand Ole Opry show. It was a special night at the Opry, where the ladies of country music helped turn the historic venue pink for breast cancer awareness. Martina flipped the switch on the first show of the evening, and Kellie had her turn for the second show.

The third annual “Opry Goes Pink” was hosted by ABC’s Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. She introduced the “Women Rock For The Cure” survivor of the year Yolanda Smith.

The Ryman’s Special Announcement This Morning Is….

The Opry and Ryman official Twitter accounts last night had left country music fans in suspense when they said they had an announcement to make at 10 am EST this morning for a concert announcement. The Band Perry will headline a show at the historic Ryman Auditorium on February 20th, 2012 at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale on August 26th and start as low as $25.

The Band Perry have performed at the Opry before as part of multi-artist nights, but this will be their first headlining show at the Ryman.

“We are so excited to headline the Ryman, which holds a very special place in the heart of everyone in country music. It truly is an amazing experience to step on that stage – we can’t wait to spend a whole evening there, sharing our stories and becoming a part of its history,” said Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry.

Oak Ridge Boys Invited to Join Opry

According to Opry.com, The Oak Ridge Boys were invited to join the Grand Ole Opry tonight by none other than Mr. Jimmy Dickens himself! The Oak Ridge Boys – William Lee Golden, Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban, and Duane Allen, will be inducted on Saturday, August 6th.

The group was surprised on stage by Jimmy Dickens dressed as William Lee Golden, decked out in a long beard and sunglasses. “All my life I’ve wanted to be a little bitty Oak Ridge Boy,” Jimmy Dickens announced as he took the stage in costume. “On August 6th, I will become the newest member of the Oak Ridge Boys, and at that time, you will become the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry!”

Joe Bonsall spooke for the group with “Jimmy, that’s the funniest thing we’ve ever seen, first of all. This is a brotherhood and sisterhood unlike any other. We have been friends of the Opry for a long time… We will get on our bus later and let this process, and I guess we have until August 6th to let it sink in.”
