In response to the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma, Oklahoma vocalist, Adley Stump from Season 2 of NBC’s “The Voice” is working with fellow native Oklahomans and Nashville songwriters to bring more attention and support for the recent tornado victims.

Without hesitation, Adley rushed into the studio to record a song that will be released May 24th to iTunes, as well as to many radio and television stations. All proceeds from the song will be donated to the Red Cross to be used to help the Oklahoma tornado victims.

“I immediately tried to figure out how I could help,” Adley says. “I think in this situation everyone just tries to figure out what they have that they can give. What I have is music, and here in Nashville there is nothing we know more than the power of a song. So when a friend from home e-mailed the song asking if I’d sing it, I knew immediately that’s how I could help. The song was perfect; I knew immediately I wanted to get in the studio with it. I hope it brings true comfort and healing for the hearts of those affected.”

Adley also intends to pull together a benefit concert in Oklahoma with other fellow Oklahoman musicians with the proceeds dedicated to the relief effort in Oklahoma. Information on this relief concert is being developed and further details will be released in the near future.

As soon as Adley agreed to sing, the Bennett family of First Oklahoma Bank provided the funds to make the project possible. The song is called “Weather the Storm” and was written by hit songwriters Bernie Nelson, Will Champlin and Adriene Smith Garrison and produced by hit songwriter/producers Philip Douglas and Greg Bieck.

Make sure to keep an eye on iTunes tomorrow so you can download Adley’s new song while helping those in need as a result of the horrific tornadoes that swept through Oklahoma. And stay tuned to Keepin’ It Country (and our social media pages) for further information on the benefit concert being planned by our friend, Adley, in support of her home state.

It brings us great sadness to share that <a href="http://www.keepinitcountryblog.com/?s=toby+keith" title=""Toby Keith"">Toby Keith‘s longtime bass player and good friend, Carl “Chuck” Goff, Jr. The fifty-four year old passed away in Oklahoma on Wednesday, February 27th, after a motor vehicle accident.

Toby spoke out on his <a href="http://tobykeith.com/news/news.php?uid=2379" title=""website"">website regarding his friend: ”We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our band member, Chuck Goff. He was a close friend for over 25 years, the band leader and bass player. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.”

Chuck Goff also lent a hand in writing some of Toby’s big hits, including “You Ain’t Much Fun” and “Upstairs Downtown” from the 1994 album “Boomtown”.

We extend our deepest condolences to Chuck Goff’s friends, family, and bandmates during this time. May his legacy live on through the relationships he built, the career he enjoyed, and the music he made.
