Sara Evans Album Release

Sara Evans

Multi platinum-selling recording artist Sara Evans will release her highly-anticipated seventh studio album, Slow Me Down, on March 4, 2014. The album comes over two years after the release of Stronger, her second Billboard Country Album Chart #1. Slow Me Down’s title track, released earlier this Fall, is Sara’s biggest first week country radio added single ever, and the song has been steadily climbing the charts ever since. The video features NASCAR great, Carl Edwards, and is now in heavy rotation on both CMT and GAC. You can check out the video below.

When asked about her new album, Sara stated “making Slow Me Down has been a truly amazing experience. I had the chance to co-write with some of my favorite writers, work with Mark [Bright] and some truly incredible musicians – and now hearing what we created gives me such an incredible sense of pride.  Having Isaac [Slade], Gavin [DeGraw], and Vince [Gill] sing with me was an amazing experience and they took those songs to another level. I honestly have never been more excited to have everyone hear one of my albums. I cannot wait to share it with everyone.”

Slow Me Down, a veritable who’s who of songwriters, will hit shelves on March 4, 2014.

VIDEO: Justin Moore Unveils Honorary Yard of Bricks

When local firefighters saved Troy native Curtiss Shaver’s life during a tragic farming accident, Shaver knew he found his calling. Even though he lost the lower part of his left leg in the accident, he was as determined as ever to become a life-long firefighter and EMT for the region. In a special event this week at Troy Fire Station No. 1,  a ceremonial yard of bricks was revealed to recognize Shaver as winner of Crown Royal’s “Your Hero’s Name Here” program.

The national contest renames the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMA) on July 29th after a deserving American hero. In an effort to bring a little bit of the famous track to Troy, Alabama, Crown Royal organized a special ceremony that resulted in the laying of a replica “Yard of Bricks” in Troy’s downtown. The final, engraved brick was put down by Shaver himself.

Nearly 200 Troy residents, including the city’s mayor, were at the ceremony outside the Fire Station on East Walnut Street. It wasn’t only locals who were there – but country music star Justin Moore performed a short set in Shaver’s honor. He performed “Small Town USA” and “‘Til My Last Day” for Shaver and the community during the brick laying.

“It was an honor to come to Alabama on this special day to pay homage to Curtiss,” said Moore. “He truly embodies the all-American hero and I am glad I got to be a part of this historical celebration. We will have a great time in Indy for the Curtiss Shaver 400.”

VIDEO: How About A Primetime NASCAR Party?

2012-Daytona-500-logo

Rain may have postponed the Daytona 500, pushing it from yesterday until (hopefully) tonight. Waiting is about as fun as a missing lug nut, but the delay isn’t putting the damper on race fans’ enthusiasm.  If anything, the first postponement in the 54-year history of the event means one more day for a NASCAR party — this time in primetime.  Plus, it gives us another reason to share Julie Roberts’ “NASCAR Party” video!

The race is scheduled to get underway shortly after 7pm (ET) and will be broadcast live on FOX.  Carl Edwards is on the pole with Greg Biffle on the outside.  Defending Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart starts third.

For all of our NASCAR fans out there, leave a message in our comments and let us know who ya got!
