Every child loves his or her mom, but country artists don’t just love their mamas — they sing about them. On this Mother’s Day, Keepin’ It Country wants to spotlight these mama-lovin’ crooners and some of the greatest songs dedicated to those very special ladies in their lives.

Before walking down the aisle, Carrie Underwood released a song for her mom, entitled “Mama’s Song,” to assure her mom that the man she chose is everything her mother could want for her daughter. “Mama’s Song” made its way on to the Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Country Songs, Radio Songs, Digital Songs, and Billboard Canadian Songs.

Country music newcomer, Lauren Alaina, released her first single in honor of her mother. “Like My Mother Does” made its way up the charts and catapulted Lauren on to the map.

Texas native, Miranda Lambert, assured her mom that she was alright outside the safe confines of her hometown. Miranda’s “Mama, I’m Alright” is featured on her debut album, “Kerosene.”

Jamie O’Neal explored the simplicities of a mother’s love in her Top 100 single, “Somebody’s Hero.” In Jamie’s hit, she explains that a mother’s job might not be glamorous, but the every day things she does for her children make her heroic.

And from the perspective of a mother herself, Martina McBride sings about her role as a mother in songs such as “In My Daughter’s Eyes” and “Teenage Daughters.” Martina effortlessly juggles motherhood and music, as she raises her three daughters, Delaney, Emma, and Ava Rose.

Inevitably, in true “mama’s boy” fashion, the men of country music have also released songs about the first woman a man loves. Blake Shelton released the heart-wrenching Hot 100, country, and radio hit “The Baby.” In this song, Blake explores the relationship between a mother and her youngest son who will, no matter his age, always be her baby.

And we would be remiss not to pay homage to Trace Adkins for his interesting take on motherhood in his hit “Hot Mama.” Trace reminds mothers everywhere that they can still turn up the heat, despite their insecurities about their post-baby bodies.

Throughout the history of country music, singers have, without fail, tipped their ten-gallon hats to the women who gave them life and love. On this Mother’s Day, we, too, give a tip of the hat to those moms and thank them for bringing us their talented children. Happy Mother’s Day!
