Miranda Lambert‘s Muttnation charity came to the rescue of one special New Jersey animal shelter. The wife of a Philadelphia country station DJ met the superstar backstage during a meet-and-greet in Atlantic City, NJ and told her the story about Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River, New Jersey. Mike Razz’s wife, Kelly Beasley, approached the singer about the organization because of Miranda’s partnership with Pedigree to feed an animal shelter for a year. Kelly had previously nominated the Zoo for the prize through Muttnation and Pedigree.
Miranda made a $5,000 donation on behalf of Muttnation Foundation to Popcorn Park Zoo after learning that they also served as an animal shelter that housed exotic animals that were abused or neglected. After learning about the background of the Popcorn Park Zoo, Miranda introduced the Philadelphia station to her mother, Bev Lambert, who serves as chair for Muttnation.
Muttnation Foundation is a donation-supported charity that works to end pet suffering and homelessness in the United States. The organization works to build awareness of pet adoption, build no-kill shelters for better animal care, increase spay and neuter awareness, and train shelter dogs for therapy programs such as wounded military personnel or dogs-in-prison programs.
Tonight’s CMA Songwriter Series featuring headliner Miranda Lambert will be streamed LIVE starting at 7:30 pm EST. The intimate, acoustic show will also feature hit songwriters Kip Moore and Brett James. Bob DiPiero will serve as the evening’s host live from Boston’s Royale Boston Nightclub.
Fans can tune in at CMASongwritersseries.com. The concert will feature all three artists and songwriters sitting round-table style as they share the stories behind their hit songs and perform them for the small crowd.
Will you be tuning in?
Congratulations to country superstar Miranda Lambert! Her very own charity, Muttnation Foundation, has raised over $400,00 in just the first half of 2013. She created the foundation for her love of animals and raises money to aid pet adoption in the United States, even with her very heavy schedule. It’s a cause close to the singer’s heart, who has become known for adopting animals she finds abandoned while out on tour or in her Oklahoma town. She continues to be personally involved in all aspects of the charity.
Muttnation Foundation provides support for pet adoption, creating no-kill animal shelters, and creates awareness for spay and neuter programs.
Our friend, Gwen Sebastian‘s, self-titled album will be released this Tuesday, June 25th!
Distributed by Warner Music Nashville, the album includes the lead single, “Suitcase,” which Sebastian co-wrote with songwriter, Nicole Witt. The song has been getting high praise since its release, and you realize why once you hear it. Sebastian’s vocals are powerful, and her country twang and personality shine on the track. The record also features special guest, Miranda Lambert, and Sebastian’s parents provide background vocals as well.
As you know, Sebastian gained popular recognition when she appeared on Season 2 of NBC’s The Voice as a member of Blake Shelton‘s team. Since then, Sebastian has been busy working on her album, touring extensively with Coach Blake as a background vocalist, and doing her own solo shows. She will also be opening select dates on Lambert and Dierks Bentley‘s Locked and Reloaded Tour this summer.
Congratulations on the release of your album, Gwen! We’re very excited for you.
Make sure you grab your copy on Tuesday!

The Country Music Association (CMA) Songwriters Showcase is heading back to Boston with a pretty big star. Texan firecracker Miranda Lambert will headline the July 11th date at the Royale Boston Nightclub. The intimate sessions will also feature Kip Moore, Brett James, and Robert DiPiero. Tickets went on-sale Friday through cmaworld.com and ticketmaster.com.
CMA CEO Steve Moore is pretty excited about taking the best of Nashville’s writers on the road. He said:
“Nashville’s songwriters are the best in the world and CMA is excited to return to Boston to showcase some of these spectacular artists again. It’s great to see how this series has grown since it began in 2005, expanding to play in cities across the U.S., and overseas in places like the U.K. and Paris. Bostonhas given us such a warm reception and we are thrilled to continue to share the remarkable stories behind the hit songs with the terrific fans there.”
Each CMA Songwriters Series showcases the best of country music’s writers in an intimate, personal setting. Each songwriter takes turns on-stage, with a guitar, and explain what inspired them to write hit songs for themselves or other artists, and then play the original version for fans in attendance.
With quite the arsenal of celebrity friends, it’s only fitting for Blake Shelton to bring his new brand of redneck to all facets of the country world. He’s released a “Celebrity Mix” of his current single, “Boys ‘Round Here,” that is sure to have you “red-ing” along with the best of them.
