Miranda Lambert Meets Honey Boo Boo

miranda-lambert-honey-boo-boo

After hilariously dressing up as Honey Boo Boo for Halloween, Miranda Lambert met the TLC reality TV star (real name Alana Thompson) backstage at her Thursday night concert in Macon, Georgia.

Lambert tweeted the photo with one of Alana’s famous phrases, “You better REDNECKONIZE!” We have to wonder what name the Thompson clan gave Miranda…Pistol Boo Boo, perhaps?

Ashley Monroe Discusses New Pistol Annies Album

Pistol-Annies

While Ashley Monroe is riding high on the success and acclaim of her solo album, Like a Rose, she’s also excited about another soon to be released album: The Pistol Annies sophomore disc, Annie Up. The first single, featuring Monroe and bandmates Angaleena Presley and Miranda Lambert, “Hush, Hush” was just released to country radio, and the full album will hit stores on May 7th.

Chatting recently with radio.com, Monroe discussed the upcoming release, “We sat and listened to it at the studio when it was finished and all three of us were bawling hysterically,” Monroe said of Annie Up. “It’s very special. I feel like a lot of the songs were gifts given to us. We wrote a lot of it on the road and it’s hard to write on the road. When we’re together, there’s just something that happens. When we write, when we’re on stage, when we’re hanging out – there’s just a buzz.”

Thrilled for the upcoming Pistol Annies release, Monroe has been pulling double duty, recently promoting her stellar solo effort on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and at South by Southwest. She’ll also be appearing with Train at select dates this summer, but it’s performing with the Annies that has truly bolstered Monroe’s confidence. “Touring with them and seeing the fans sing back songs that were album cuts, it’s so encouraging and it really gave me confidence that it was OK to make a record that is exactly me,” she said. “This year I’ll be an Ashley and an Annie, and I’m excited.”

Miranda Lambert Premieres “Mama’s Broken Heart” Video

Screen Shot 2013-03-04 at 12.52.35 PM

Miranda Lambert shows off her acting skills in her new music video for “Mama’s Broken Heart,” where the singer goes a bit crazy after a breakup. The beginning of the video brings back memories of the Stepford Wives movie, as Miranda enters her fancy, upper-class home with her true southern jacked-to-Jesus hairdo. But, she has a bit of revenge up her sleeve. Once inside, she loses it and begins acting crazy. By the end of video, Miranda’s perfectly done-up hair is disheveled, her fishnet stockings are ripped, and her makeup is smeared all over her face.

My personal favorite scene is of her at the dining room table, making faces as she takes her anger out on her food. Check out the video below, and let us know what your favorite part is!

It’s the eve of the release of “Wasted on Love,” the first single from country piano-man Josh Charles. The song will be released via Downhome Records/ THC: Music/Ingrooves/Fontana, and is Charles’s first single since 2011′s critically-acclaimed “Life Ain’t Fair.” In addition to releasing his single this month, Josh recently went to Nashville, where he recorded with Grammy Award winner, Toby Wright and he’ll be backed by Blake Shelton‘s touring band, Rob Byus, Tracy Broussard, Kevin Post and Beau Tackett.

We discussed his background, who he’d LOVE to duet with, country music in NYC, his oddest job (hint: I’ve fallen and I can’t get up) and more! Plus, what’s it like to open for Blake Shelton? Read on to find out!

DVR Alert: Miranda Lambert on Project Runway

Tonight may very well be the first time I’ll be willingly tuning in to Project Runway. Country music’s feisty Miranda Lambert will guest judge alongside supermodel Heidi Klum on the Lifetime program. It’s not the first time Miranda’s guest starred on a popular television show: last year she was on TLC’s Say Yes To The Dress with her fellow Pistol Annies, picking out a dress for “Holler Annie” Angaleena Presley‘s wedding.

In the episode of Project Runway, the reality show contestants are challenged to design and create an outfit fit for the “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer.

Miranda’s episode of Project Runway airs TONIGHT on Lifetime starting at 9 pm EST. Check out a preview for the episode below and let us know what country star you think is the most stylish:

Grammy Recap: Our Favorite Moments

Carrie-underwood

The 55th Annual Grammy’s took place on Sunday, February 10th and our favorite country artists were well-represented with performances and more. It was impossible to pick a favorite moment, so we picked a few of the best…

Taylor Swift Brings in the Clowns: We’ve never been asked to open the Grammys (or much more than our own mail), but we’d assume it’s a big responsibility that comes with a ton of pressure. With her genre-bending, Alice-in-Wonderland-themed opener, Taylor Swift set the tone for a night of unforgettable performances with her hit about never, ever, ever, EVER getting back together. Although she nabbed a Grammy in the pre-telecast for her collaboration with the Civil Wars, it was her performance that had everyone buzzing. Most notably, there was that moment when she pulled her best Madonna, suddenly acquiring a British accent. Although much has been made about what that meant, we here at Keepin’ It Country have decided it could’ve only been aimed in one direction…
