ACM Awards Winners

ACM-300x268

Winners have been announced for the 48th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, a star-studded ceremony broadcast LIVE tonight on the CBS Television Network from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  Fans named Luke Bryan, Entertainer of the Year, the evening’s biggest honor and his first win in that category. This year marked a record breaking year with 1.1 million fans casting their vote for Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year categories, combined.

Bryan co-hosted the ACM Awards for the first time ever tonight with Blake Shelton. Prior to the telecast, Bryan won for Vocal Event of the Year with Jason Aldean and Eric Church, for “The Only Way I Know,” a trophy he accepted on the GAC live red carpet pre-show. The Entertainer of the Year Award and Vocal Event of the Year mark his fourth ACM Award wins. He previously won in 2009 for both New Solo Vocalist of the Year and for New Artist of the Year.

Miranda Lambert won for the fourth consecutive year as Female Vocalist of the Year and she also took the prize for Single Record of the Year as artist, and Song of the Year, as artist and composer, for “Over You,” an award she shares with husband and co-composer Blake Shelton.  She is the leading winner of the night, with a total of four trophies in three categories.  She joins Reba and Loretta Lynn as the only other artists to win Female Vocalist of the Year four or more times.

Jason Aldean won Male Vocalist of the Year, his first win in the category.  Aldean also won for Vocal Event of the Year, with Luke Bryan and Eric Church, for “The Only Way I Know.”  This is his second consecutive win in that category; he won last year with Kelly Clarkson for “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”  In 2005, he won for New Male Vocalist of the Year.

Little Big Town won Vocal Group of the Year and, prior to the telecast, they were also awarded the trophy for Video of the Year for “Tornado.” This is their first win in both categories.  In 2006, they won for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year.

Thompson Square won Vocal Duo of the Year, their second consecutive ACM Award win in that category.

Eric Church won Album of the Year for Chief. He also won for Vocal Event of the Year, with Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, for “The Only Way I Know.” This is his first win in both categories, and his third ACM Award overall. He won for New Solo Vocalist of the Year in 2010.

Artists Florida Georgia Line received their first time Academy of Country Music Award tonight for New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s Department Stores, a fan-voted category.  They previously won in the New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year category, giving them a total of two wins for this year.

A Recap of our ACM Performance Announcements

Blake Shelton & Luke Bryan co-host ACM awards.

Yesterday we were part of a teleconference with CBS and Academy of Country Music producers for the upcoming ACM awards this weekend. We got to know quite a few exciting secrets for the award show this weekend, and of course we couldn’t wait to tell our fans and readers on Twitter! If you’re following us on Twitter (@keepinitblog) you will have already heard these really cool performances, but we are recapping them now so everyone can keep track of what might be the most-fun Academy of Country Music Award show ever.

Unfortunately, we were unable to make it to the ACMs this year because of budgetary reasons, so we’ll be live-tweeting them from home along with you! Make sure you join us Sunday afternoon for our exclusive KEEPIN’ IT COUNTRY PRESENTS… Jason Charles Miller stageit show at 3 pm EST, before the ACMs kick off live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at 8 pm EST. Use hashtag #KIC to join in our fun!

The ACMs will kick off with a big opening performance of “Boys ‘Round Here” with Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Pistol Annies, Sheryl Crow, and Brad Paisley.

Jewel will perform a special Lifting Lives segment with a mash-up of her hit single “Hands Clean” and “Fill A Heart,” an original song by singer-songwriter Tori Kelly.

Hunter Hayes will get two pretty cool performances – he’ll be debuting his new single “I Want Crazy” with Stevie Wonder, and will mix in one of Stevie’s big hits. Hunter will return later in the show with Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley live from the ACM Fan Jam. How did Stevie and Hunter get together? Turns out Hunter covers Stevie’s songs on tour, and Stevie discovered them and became a fan of Hunter.

Taylor Swift will have country superstars Keith Urban and Tim McGraw joining her for “Highway Don’t Care.”

Luke Bryan will be debuting a brand new single “Crash My Party” during the award show..

Kelly Clarkson will be performing her country single “Don’t Rush” with a special, announced guest. Is it Vince Gill? We don’t know, but we know he was approached along with someone else.

Reba will introduce a very special duet performance from Garth Brooks and George Strait who will be paying tribute to the late Dick Clark. It’s going to be a pretty emotional performance, so make sure you tune in for this one.

Do you have any questions about the ACMs? We’ll answer what we can on Facebook and Twitter!

John Fogerty and Miranda Lambert Collaborate On “Wrote A Song For Everyone”

acm_2010_show_007-x600

Southern rock legend and Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman, John Fogerty, teamed up with several country superstars for his upcoming album, Wrote A Song For Everyone. The record features some of our favorite artists collaborating with Fogerty on his classic hits.

One of his special guests is country’s beloved female, Miranda Lambert. She joined the project after Fogerty slipped her a note at an event and asked Lambert to lend her voice for the title track.

Lambert grew up listening to CCR and was honored to work with Fogerty, whom she calls “rock royalty.” Because of her high regard for him, Lambert was nervous walking into the studio but she says Fogerty is so nice and normal (besides the fact that he is a rock star, of course). She went on to say that “cool is the word for him.”

Lambert dubbs Fogerty and CCR’s music “timeless” spanning and bridging generations. I would definitely have to agree with her!

Check out the video below to see what Miranda had to say about the whole experience and also view behind the scenes with Lambert and Fogerty. You can also hear snippets of the song in the background.

Other country artists included on the star-studded project are Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Zac Brown Band, and Alan Jackson. The album is set to be released on May 28th. You can pre-order your copy on iTunes or Amazon today!

Pistol Annies Reveal Album Cover & Track Listing for Annie Up

pistol-annnies-annie-up-cover

The Pistol Annies will release their much-anticipated sophomore album, Annie Up, on May 7, and they recently revealed the album cover and track list. All of the tracks were written by some combination of the Annies, Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe & Angaleena Presley.

The first single “Hush Hush” was already released to radio, and talks about hiding family secrets for the sake of appearances. The track is typical Pistol Annies, as are many of the other tracks, such as “I Feel A Sin Comin On,” a blusy ode to temptation and  “Unhappily Married,” a brash look inside the daily grind of a couple desperate to stay together.

One track, the somewhat confessional “Being Pretty Ain’t Pretty,” was inspired by a tweet from Ashley about makeup and makeup wipes. “Women are warriors and we go into battle everyday with the stuff we wear, said Angaleena. “You spend all this money for make-up and eyelashes and spray tanners just to wipe it all off at the end of the night,” added Miranda.

Kacey Musgraves’ Album “Same Trailer Different Park” Out Now

Kacey Musgraves.

You have probably been hearing this name more and more frequently, and I have a feeling you will continue to hear it for a long time.

The Nashville singer-songwriter made her major record label debut yesterday with her album, Same Trailer Different Park. By the way, that might be one of my favorite album titles in recent memory.

Musgraves co-produced the album with Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, and co-wrote all 12 tracks. The lead single off of the album, “Merry Go ‘Round,” was recently certified gold by the RIAA for 500k downloads.

Musgraves is definitely a stand-out when it comes to songwriting. The former Nashville Star contestant has written a couple of other songs you already know. She co-penned Miranda Lambert‘s current sassy single, “Mama’s Broken Heart.” She also co-wrote the emotional track, “Undermine,” which was one of the songs featured on ABC‘s TV hit show, Nashville.

The 2013 ACM nominated singer is not afraid to speak her mind when it comes to her music, and her lyrics are as honest and real as they get. On top of that, her voice is just as genuine and honest as her songwriting which makes for the perfect mix. The highly anticipated album from the 24-year-old definitely did not disappoint. Go grab your copy from iTunes!
