Luke Bryan’s November 11th tour stop in Muncie, Indiana was the last stop for CMT’s Next Superstar winner Matt Mason. Matt, who wanted to leave the tour in style, decided to come out during Luke’s performance of “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” in a pink shirt reading “Country Boy”, shorts, and a banjo. Once Luke figured out what the crowd was laughing about, he put all the spotlight on his opening act, changing the song to “Country Boy (Shake It For Me.”

Dierks Bentley Sells Out Miles & Music For Kids Benefit

Dierks Bentley might not yet have a release date for his new album, but that doesn’t mean he’s not in demand. He sold out his Chicago date for his Miles & Music For Kids benefit two weeks in advance of the October 9th date. It’s the fastest sell-out in the six year history of the event. All proceeds will go towards Chicago’s Children’s Memorial Hospital. Artists slated to attend include the Eli Young Band, Jerrod Niemann, Tyler Reeve, and Matt Mason. US99′s Lisa Dent will serve as this year’s emcee at the Chicago benefit concert.

“It’s further proof that country music fans and bikers have the biggest hearts out there,” said Bentley. “It’s always fun taking this event into new cities and raising money for the local hospitals. We are looking forward to a big day in Chicago!”

Throughout the event’s six-year history, Dierks has raised over $1.6 million for children’s hospitals across the United States in cities like Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Seattle and Columbus. Tickets are still available for the Nashville chapter of the event this year. Sponsors of this year’s events include Nationwide Insurance and CMT One Country.

Matt Mason Named CMT’s Next Big Superstar

Last Friday, June 10th, Matt Mason was named CMT’s Next Big Superstar on CMT’s new reality singing competition. As the winner of the show, he receives a recording contract with Warner Music Nashville’s Elektra label and will be the opening act for Luke Bryan’s CMT On Tour. His opening slot will be sponsored by CMT.

The hour-long finale episode featured a performance by Kristin Chenoweth before Mason was named the winner at the end of the show.

“It’s all very surreal. I’ve wanted this for so long. I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity and look forward to making the most of it. Huge thanks to everyone who voted for me.”

CMT’s Next Big Superstar returns in late 2011 / early 2012.
