Martina McBride’s soulful album, Everlasting, will hit stores on April 8, but she is teasing fans with the new material. Today, she released “Suspicious Minds,” made famous by Elvis Presley.
“There aren’t very many female versions of that song,” McBride says to USA Today, but “it makes sense for a woman to sing it. I focused on the lyrics on this record. This one is about reacting to jealousy and being possessive. Which women can really relate to.”

On March 4th, Martina McBride‘s much-anticipated album, Everlasting, will hit stores. The album won’t be your typical album, but is instead a collection of iconic soul and R&B songs. The album was produced by Grammy-winning legend, Don Was, and includes songs such as Aretha Franklin’s “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man,” Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” and Van Morrison’s “Wild Night.” The album also features a duet with Kelly Clarkson on “In the Basement” and Gavin DeGraw on “Bring It On Home To Me”
“I love soulful music and it just made sense to me to stretch a bit at this time and do something that fills my heart and allows me to explore a little bit,” said Martina. “I have worked hard to choose some of the best and most loved classics, much like I did with ‘Timeless,’ and interpret them in a way that is faithful to the original, but still has my own artistic spin to make it mine.”
“Working with Don was a dream come true,” continued Martina. “He is so musical and really helped me focus on how to do these songs in a way that not only features the vocal, but also connects this music with what I’ve done in the past in a really honest and organic way. Putting out new music is one of the most exciting things we can do as performers, and I can’t wait to take this music on tour.”
The album will be released on McBride’s own Vinyl Records through Kobalt label services.

One of country music’s best vocalists of all-time will be releasing an album of classics on March 4, 2014!
Martina McBride’s new album Everlasting will feature iconic songs. Tracks will include “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man” made famous by Aretha Franklin, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, and the Jimmy Ruffin hit “What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted.”
The four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year shared:
“These songs have beautiful melodies and emotional lyrics, which is basically all you can ask for as a singer. While this is a bit of a departure for me song-wise, stylistically I approached these songs the way I always have which is singing with as much soul and emotion as I possibly can.” “I think my fans will love this record because they are some of the best songs of all time done in a very classic style. I’m so excited for them to hear it and to take this record, complete with a horn section, on the road in the spring.”
We can’t wait to hear this!
The album will also feature a collaboration with Gavin DeGraw on “Bring It On Home,” originally sung by Sam Cooke.
Produced by Grammy winning producer Don Was, Everlasting will be released on McBride’s own label through Kobalt label services. The full track listing will be revealed soon and we’ll keep you posted.
