Country singer Mark Wayne Glasmire was taken by surprise today to learn he is a candidate for nomination for the Inspirational & Christian Country Music Awards. He’s a candidate for New Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year for the ICM Awards first ballot. The second round of voting begins soon, with details on the October 18th ICM Faith, Family & Country Awards Show soon to follow.
The success of his critically-acclaimed 2009 album “Life Goes On” gave Mark a global presence. It was because of that 2009 record that his current self-titled EP on Traceway Records has already generated two hits – one of which is his nine-week international number one hit single, and current U.S. single “I Like You.” He was named HotDisc Chart’s Most Popular Artist for 2011 in honor of his current single.
“Last year was certainly a good one for me,” says the outgoing Texas resident. “I had great bookings and got to spend time on the road visiting many of the radio stations that have been playing my songs.”
Mark’s big year continues as he will be opening up for country stars like Dierks Bentley and Guy Clark; while still remaining a sought-after performer for music halls, pubs and festivals across the United States. He was part of the entertainment line-up at this year’s CMA Fest in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mark Wayne Glasmire will appear on Inside Music Row this week (June 11-17) on a special feature on the singer/songwriter. The special was taped at the Belcourt Theatre in the historic Hillsboro Village in Nashville, which is also the location on Glasmire’s latest video shoot. Show host Kelly Lynn and Glasmire will discuss Glassmire’s summer touring schedule, upcoming radio promotion tour, and his new EP, Mark Wayne Glasmire. This episode will be Glasmire’s debut on the popluar television show, which airs across the world.

Mark Wayne Glasmire was the recipient of a “world-class” honor during yesterday’s Aristo Global Show. He accepted a plague to celebrate nine weeks at #1, as voted on by European DJs, who are responsible for compiling the Hotdisc Top 40 Chart.
Glasmire’s song “I Like You” is an International hit that has held the #1 spot for a record-tying nine weeks. The song is breezy and lighthearted but has resounded with fans. Managing Director of Hotdisc, Stuart Cameron, says “It is unusual for a song to gain as much unprecedented reaction from the DJs in Europe as ‘I Like You’ received.” Cameron adds, “Only one other song (by Billy Yates) has made it to #1 one for nine weeks since we began in 2007.”
The track is now headed for the U.S. charts, with the video being added by The Country Network (TCN). “I Like You” is the second single from Mark’s self-titled EP, released by Traceway Records. It can be downloaded on iTunes and all other digital retailers.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Mark Wayne Glasmire will be bringing his signature voice and music back to country music on January 10th with a brand-new seven-song E.P.. The self-titled E.P., “Mark Wayne Glasmire,” will be released on Traceway Records. It’s currently on the iTunes “Country New And Noteworthy Page” The record includes the international hit “I Like You” which had kept Mark as the number one entertainer on the HotDisc chart earlier this year for nine weeks. The E.P.’s first single “Goin’ Home” was released back in September, and was inspired by a c0nversation with his friend who had a military career of over a decade. The music video for the single was directed by Harold Jarboe, and currently has rotation on Roughstock, American Music Channel, Yallwire, The Country Network, and Yahoo! Music.
The record was co-produced by Mark and John Albani, famous for his work with Steve Azar, Monty Holmes and Randy Boudreaux. The 7-song EP features some of Nashville’s best pickers, and Mark’s signature guitar work.
“It was truly a labor of love,” Mark says. “There’s a certainty and commitment that I think come across in the music.”
The album features tracks like “Last Of A Dying Breed,” which targets a lack of accountability in today’s society with a gospel-inspired piano intro and rock-flavored guitar licks, then he segways into a laid back, island-driven “I Like You.” Mark’s voice easily sells the ballads “Goin’ Home” and “The Last Goodbye” on the E.P, and reminiscent of Brooks & Dunn on “She’s Got It All.” The album also includes the pretty bonus track “Now I Believe,” and the closer “The Moment.”
“This is what I do,” Mark admits with a trademark grin. “I’ve been running the road for a lot of years; from the East Coast to the West Coast, with Nashville in between. I’ve got an abundance of life experience to draw from.”
The Texas-born singer is a memorizing performer, who has shared the stage in the past with Dierks Bentley, Guy Clark, and many other top acts in country music today. He’s an award-winning songwriter who had been honored with the 2010 “Grand Prize In The Country Song Division” of the 2010 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest held at Merlefest.
