It’s Going To Be ‘A Very Country Christmas’

According to CMT, several country music stars will be contributing songs to the new holiday album, A Very Country Christmas. The record will be released Tuesday, October 11 and will be available exclusively at Target. Artists that will appear on the album with new recordings include: Ronnie Dunn (Silent Night), Brad Paisley (What Child Is This), Kellie Pickler (Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree), Jake Owen (Mele Kalikimaka), Chris Young (O Holy Night), and the Lunabelles (The Christmas Song). Previously recorded songs from Sara Evans (O Come All Ye Faithful) and Carrie Underwood (Do You Hear What I Hear) will also be included.

How Sony Music’s Restructuring Effects Country Music

Country music fans have been a little worried and confused this week over the announcement of Sony Music’s restructuring of its labels. While no major acts have been dropped, a lot of shuffling has gone on. We have the new artist lists by label here for you to help ease that confusion while the official websites get caught up and switch over. With the removal of Columbia Nashville, Miranda Lambert and the Pistol Annies were one of the acts switched to a different branch of Sony Music Nashville.

Lunabelles Asking Country Fans To Help Spread Compassion

All-female country music group The Lunabelles are asking for some help from country music fans. The four girls recently traveled to Columbia with Compassion International in an effort to battle childhood poverty. The girls spend the whole week in the country, visiting schools, churches and communities that the organization helps.

“I have been raving about Compassion ever since we left Colombia,” says Dominique Arciero, who sings and plays piano and mandolin. “When people ask me how the trip was, my mind immediately jumps to the people who work hands-on in these little communities to make Compassion’s intentions come true, daily.”

The Lunabelles are one of many country music acts to embrace Compassion International and their charity work. Buddy Jewel, Emerson Drive, John Berry, and bluegrass group The Roys have all supported the charity in the past. Compassion International is the largest Christian organization that battles childhood poverty. They currently help 1.2 million children in 26 of the world’s poorest countries. Founded in 1952, they focus on tackling poverty one child at a time.
