Jason Aldean plays to over 60k fans!

ACM Male Vocalist of the Year Jason Aldean headlined the first ever concert at the University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium for over 60K fans last night. The monumental country music event started early with Aldean’s fans taking tailgating to a new level, and when the Georgia native himself made a surprise appearance in the parking lot, hysteria ensued.

Aldean’s 90 minute set showcased hit after hit including “Hicktown,” “Big Green Tractor” and “My Kinda Party,” as well as his current single “1994,” on one of the biggest outdoor stages in the nation with high resolution video panels, pyrotechnics and a helicopter flyover. Luke Bryan jumped on stage to perform the reigning ACM Vocal Event of the Year “The Only Way I Know,” then the stadium erupted when GRAMMY award winner and fellow Georgia native Ludacris surprised the crowd by joining Aldean for “Dirt Road Anthem.” Current tour mates Thomas Rhett and Jake Owen were also on the bill.

The energy of last night’s crowd is something he’ll never forget, explains Aldean:

“Seeing everything come together the way it did tonight and feeling the energy of the crowd is something I will never forget. When my mom got here last night, we took a walk around the stadium, and it was really emotional for both of us. This place has always meant so much to me, but when I was a kid, we were flat broke and my mom couldn’t afford to buy tickets for us to go to a game. So I watched on TV and dreamed about one day seeing it in person. Tonight was beyond my wildest dreams…the whole thing has honestly shaken me a little bit…it’s has been a night I will never ever forget.”

The 2013 NIGHT TRAIN TOUR has sold out every show so far this year, and his next stadium stops include Boston’s Fenway Park (7/12 and 7/13) and Chicago’s Wrigley Field (7/20).

Jason Aldean Scores First Three Grammy Nominations

Multi-platinum country rock star Jason Aldean scored his first three career Grammy nominations last night, tied for the most for country artists going into 2012′s Grammy Awards. He’s up for “Best Country Album” for “My Kinda Party,” “Best Country Solo Performance” for “Dirt Road Anthem,” and “Best Country Duo / Group Performance” for his crossover hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Kelly Clarkson.

“I was totally stunned last night, and it all happened so fast. I was feelin’ a pretty big adrenaline rush from our performance with Luda, and then to be told we had three nominations was just crazy. We were flying pretty high all night…there was definitely some celebrating on the flight back to Nashville,” says Aldean. “That ‘Album’ nomination is what artists dream of their whole career. And then for both the duet with Kelly and ‘Dirt Road’ to get some recognition, which were both different kinds of songs for us this year, it’s just incredible.”

The nominations were announced during the one-hour “GRAMMY Nominations Concert LIVE!” television special on CBS. Jason earned a standing ovation during the program for his performance of “Dirt Road Anthem,” which recently became a double-platinum hit for the singer. He was joined by fellow Georgia native rapper Ludacris who added in his own verse to the song.

Jason has the number one song in country music right now with “Tattoos On This Town” moving into the top spot on the Mediabase singles chart. It’s the eighth number one of his career, and the fourth consecutive number one single off of Jason’s “My Kinda Party” album.

A surprise guest performer has just been announced for tonight’s CMT Awards live from Nashville. Jason Aldean has invited rapper Ludacris to duet with him on his “Dirt Road Anthem” country-rap single. This will be the first time the new version of the single will be performed live.

“He absolutely killed his verse of the song,” the country star added. “And we’re both Georgia boys, so even though our music is totally different, our roots are the same. We both know about hot Georgia summers and cooling off with a six pack of two. It wasn’t that much of a stretch.”

I don’t really understand it myself, but there you have it. Ludacris will be rapping alongside Aldean tonight.

Kid Rock hosts the CMT Awards. Watch them live on CMT or stream it on CMT.com starting at 8 ET/ 7 CT. Aldean leads the way in nominations with four; one of which is his duet with Kelly Clarkson. Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift and the Zac Brown Band follow closely in second with three apiece.
