Country music duo Love and Theft will be taking on a very important fine art in their debut on GAC’s Day Jobs tomorrow night. The pair will be making whiskey at White Whiskey Distillery, attempting to re-create Jamey Grosser’s Popcorn Whiskey secret recipe. Their episode premieres tomorrow night on GAC at 9 pm EST.
The boys’ current single, “Angel Eyes,” is still out on country radio right now. They were recently announced as part of Brad Paisley‘s Virtual Reality World Tour’s The Escape. They will appear at select dates on the tour as part of the Virtual Opry stage before Brad’s show.
RCA Nashville duo Love and Theft will be performing their hit single “Angel Eyes” on ABC’s “GCB” this week. Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson will make their debut appearance on the drama this Saturday, April 29th at 10 pm EST.
“Performing ‘Angel Eyes’ on GCB was definitely a killer experience,” says Stephen. “I started watching the show from episode one and I really love it. I grew up a preacher’s kid so I can closely relate to a lot of the dialog. We are thrilled to be involved with such a fun new show!”
“Angel Eyes” is the debut single from the duo’s brand new studio album being released on July 24th. The self-titled record is something that the pair is pretty excited to be releasing on their brand new label:
“This really feels like a new beginning for us,” says Stephen. Eric adds, “We have a new label (RCA), a new producer (Josh Leo), there are two of us now instead of three, but the core of Love and Theft is still the same. Our sound is driven by harmonies and we’re a band who writes, records and performs honest, soulful country music.
Love and Theft were nominated for Duo Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. It’s their first nomination at the fan-voted award show, and it’s something the duo is celebrating this week:
Stephen says, “We are stoked to be nominated for our first CMT award! This video is really special to us because we have a lot of close ties to this video. My dad plays the preacher in the video and our family and friends are part of the bonfire scene. We couldn’t be more excited. We are truly grateful.”
The number one just might start being Jake Owen’s favorite number. His songs sure seem to like it.
For two consecutive weeks, Owen’s hit single, “Alone with You,” holds the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. In addition, this week the song jumped to the No. 1 spot on Country Aircheck as well. This marks back-to-back chart toppers for Jake and the second multi-week No. 1 single from his album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
The third single from Barefoot Blue Jean Night will be “The One That Got Away.” Jake says the song, which he co-wrote with BMI and ACM Songwriter of the Year Dallas Davidson and Jimmy Ritchey, tells a true story.
“I’m from Vero Beach, FL, and every summer, girls would come to town with their families. One summer, this girl and I were totally inseparable and after she left, I never saw her again. That’s where the idea for this song came from. The first few lines are: She rolled in / My little sandy town / She spent the summer there / A couple houses down / Well it was magic in the air / When she caught my eye / We shared three short months / And one long goodbye.”
Academy of Country Music nominated duo Love and Theft have announced some big news. The pair will be releasing their debut RCA Nashville album on June 5th. The self-titled album is a big step for Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles, who were formerly a trio before signing with RCA Nashville. While they are proud of their first record, which spawned a top 10 hit in “Runaway,” they feel as if this time around they were more able to be themselves and sing what they wanted to sing. They see themselves as a band that writes, records and performs honest country music.
The album is currently up for pre-order on Amazon.com. Check out the official cover art for the album:
They worked with producer Josh Leo on their new album, who had nothing but good things to say about the duo:
“Love and Theft is a true duo in every sense of the word,” says Leo. “They seamlessly trade lead vocals during the songs and sometimes, I’m not even 100% sure who is singing the lead. They are that good.”
The lead single from their upcoming album is “Angel Eyes,” which is currently sitting at number 31 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart and on Country Aircheck. The pair will also kick off the ACM week this weekend with a free performance on Fremont Street on Friday, March 30th at 7 pm PST.
Exciting news for country music fans heading to the Academy of Country Music awards this year. They’ve released their full schedule of the Fremont Street free concerts leading up to the April 1st award show. Eric Church and Luke Bryan each headline their own nights of the Fremont Street Experience, with new Artist of the Year nominees also performing on both dates. See the full line-up below.
The 2-days of concerts will be hosted by three-time ACM Personality Of The Year winner Blair Garner.
If you find yourself in the Nashville area at the end of this month, you won’t want to miss this great opportunity to support our fellow country music bloggers CountryMusicIsLove and the City of Hope!
CountryMusicIsLove is proud to announce the 3rd Annual CountryMusicIsLove Concert benefiting City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading research, treatment and education centers for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. This year’s concert will feature acoustic performances by Micheal Ray, Chris Cavanaugh, Kristen Kelly, THE FARM, JT Hodges, Chuck Wicks, Love and Theft, Casey James, and Craig Campbell. Whitney Duncan will do double duty as host and performer for the second year in a row.
The cause hits close to home for many of the artists, including Casey James. “My family has been massively affected by cancer,” James shares. “My Paw-Paw passed away last year from cancer. My Nana passed away from cancer and my mother is a two-time cancer survivor, thyroid and breast. I can go on and on. There’s a large history of that in my family. Anything I can do to help and to do my part to make things better, I’ve always been into doing that, so it was an honor to be asked to come out and play. I’m excited to play the music and come see the fans, but most excited just to be a part of the whole thing.”
The 3nd Annual CountryMusicIsLove Concert benefiting City of Hope will be held February 21, 2012 at 7:30pm at Exit/In in Nashville, Tenn. Tickets are $15 and 100% of tickets sales will be donated to City of Hope. Tickets are available here: http://bit.ly/cmiltickets.

Here’s a successful case of addition by subtraction. Love and Theft went from being a trio to being a duo to being nominated for an ACM award.
Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson nabbed a nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year. As the below video shows, the guys are just a little bit excited about it:
