Us here at Keepin’ it Country want to wish all the moms out there a happy Mother’s Day! Just in case you’re looking for a playlist of songs to help celebrate the weekend with your Mom, we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite country songs about moms. Take a listen to our list below and let us know what YOUR picks are for mother’s day.
A personal song written by Carrie herself to her mom is our first pick for our Mother’s Day playlist. The music video features Carrie and her real life mom, as pictured to the side of this post, on her wedding day as she tells her mom that she doesn’t need to worry about her daughter, because she learned from her. “Mama’s Song” was the fourth single from Carrie’s “Play On” album, which was co-written by Carrie with Luke Laird, Kara DioGuardi, and Marti Frederikson. BONUS: The video also features Carrie’s real-life husband, Mike Fisher.
Country artist, Amber Hayes, is offering fans a free download of her duet with Lonestar’s Richie McDonald, “Always There For Me.” The previously unreleased track is now available at her official website, www.AmberHayesMusic.com, and was performed by Hayes and McDonald in the 2012 summer movie, “Cowgirls N’ Angels.” The movie also includes two other original songs from Hayes: “Right As Rain” and “C’mon.”

Here at Keepin’ It Country, we like to get a little festive. With Valentines Day tomorrow, we thought it would be fun to put together some of our favourite songs that celebrate love and are thus appropriate to celebrate during this time of year. We recognize some oldies (but goodies), as well as some more modern tunes. Nonetheless, it was rather hard trying to narrow down this list to just ten! Let us know how you feel about our picks!
Lonestar hinted something major to fans yesterday on Twitter when they asked how they should celebrate their 20th anniversary as a group next year. They followed that up by announcing today they are going to reunite with original lead singer Richie MacDonald to tour in 2012. The group will also release an album together next year to mark their anniversary.
Lonestar will tour with all four members Keech Rainwater, Dean Sams, Michael Britt and Richie MacDonald. With Richie, they had one of the biggest love songs of any genre with “Amazed.”
After 20 years, the International Country Music Festival is returning to London, England with a big bang. The queen of country music, Reba McEntire, will headline the February festival at Wembley Arena. Her performance takes place February 26th, 2012 and tickets go on-sale October 10th, 2011. Reba’s appearance will be a rare opportunity for British fans to watch the legend live in concert. Joining her at the festival are Little Big Town, Ricky Skaggs, and Lonestar.
“My band, crew and I are really looking forward to going back to Europe to play our music. The last time we performed there was in 1999! We have been very busy for the last 10 years doing the REBA TV show and concerts in North America. Now, we are so excited to be able to travel abroad and do both our new and old songs for our European audience, who has always been so good to us.”
The International Country Music Festival ran for 23 years from 1969 to 1991 at Wembley Arena. They were the first shows to introduce country music to the United Kingdom. See the full lineup below:
