The CMA Awards are building quite the lineup of performers for their 46th Awards show. ABC has announced that the show’s co-host Carrie Underwood will perform, as will Kenny Chesney, Eric Church & the Band Perry.
The new group of performers join previously announced performers, including Underwood’s co-host Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kelly Clarkson & the Zac Brown Band.
The show will air on ABC on November 1st, live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena ABC.
ABC has announced the first round of performers for the 46th CMA Awards, taking place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 1st. Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Kelly Clarkson and Little Big Town are the first acts to be announced with many more to come.
While Aldean, Bentley & Little Big Town aren’t surprises, we have to wonder what Kelly Clarkson will be performing. Will we be getting a countrified ”Mr. Know It All” or is KC finally releasing a full country single. We sure hope that it’s the latter!
Little Big Town‘s “Tornado” might just have been released last week, but one member of the group is about to get a whole lot more busy. Kimberly Schlapman will debut a brand new cooking show on Great American Country (GAC) on September 22nd. It’s a childhood dream come true for the singer, who isn’t a professional chef but loves working in the kitchen. The first episode of “Kimberly’s Simply Southern” will air September 22nd at 1 pm EST on GAC.
“I’m not a professional chef but when I was a kid, I would stand at the counter and pretend I was a cooking show host.”
The 13-episode series will feature recipes inspired by her life on the road on tour. While on tour, Kimberly gets the chance to sample different kinds of specialties from all over North America, which she then tries to recreate at home. The series will follow her visits to the various little towns throughout her touring, and guest appearances by the rest of Little Big Town, Lauren Alaina, and Laura Bell Bundy.
Will you be tuning in when it premieres this weekend? What country star do you think should have their own cooking show?

Country music quartet Little Big Town have finally gotten their first-ever number one single! Their Summer smash hit “Pontoon” landed at number one on the Mediabase charts this week. The song was already certified platinum by the RIAA for selling more than one million copies digitally since its release. It’s the lead song from their upcoming album “Tornado” out on September 11th.
It’s a big deal for the group, who have been in the business for quite some time now. Kimberly Schlapman shares:
“After working towards this for 13 years, it’s an even sweeter reward than we dreamed! We’re just soaking it all in and it feels so good.”
Her fellow band member Karen Fairchild added:
“We’ll be celebrating this for a while. We can’t say thank you enough to Country radio, the fans and our whole team for giving us our first number one!”
The group’s album is still up for pre-orders right now on littlebigtown.com.

Due to schedule conflicts, Miranda Lambert will be unable to bring her “ON FIRE” tour to Scranton, PA this year. The concert, which was originally scheduled for July 7th, was forced to be postponed when Miranda suffered from an illness. The tour stop was to feature Little Big Town and Thomas Rhett alongside Miranda and the Pistol Annies.
Miranda is “regrettably unable to make up her performance” and apologies to her fans who were hoping to see her. Refunds will be available at original point of purchase for all tickets.
Little Big Town will finally be releasing their fifth studio album “Tornado” on September 11th. The album was recorded in Nashville with producer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, The Wallflowers, and Cage The Elephant). The record will feature brand new music from the group, including their smash hit summer single “Pontoon.”
The group is pretty excited about their new album put together for their fans:
“I am so excited for people to hear this new record,” Jimi Westbrook said. “We worked with Jay Joyce and he really pushed us to be in the moment. There was such an amazing energy between all of us in the studio and I think you can feel it.”
Their lead single “Pontoon” was released to country music radio back in April and is already in the top 15 of the radio airplay charts. It’s the fastest rising single of the group’s career so far, and is number one on the Soundscan Country Digital Chart for the second week in a row.
To celebrate the announcement of the release date and track listing, the group launched a brand new site at littlebigtown.com earlier this week. Read below to see the official cover art and track listing for “Tornado”:
