Lady Antebellum Fans Brave Stormy Weather for Attendance Breaking Concert Stop

Lady-Antebellum-acm-awards

Lady Antebellum played to over 62,000 devoted fans this past weekend on their headlining OWN THE NIGHT 2012 World Tour. The CMA and ACM Vocal Group of the Year played in Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, Pittsburgh, PA and Rochester, NY. In Cleveland, the supergroup played to over 18,600 fans, despite inclement weather, marking the biggest selling night of the Own the Night Tour.

While the fans were thrilled by Hillary, Charles and Dave, the press was equally impressed. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette wrote, “When the Grammy-winning trio of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood took the stage, they left no stone unturned…a full sing-along reached the back of the packed lawn. The band, whose talent runs deep, has a great chemistry and plays well to an audience. A classic stage with a U-shaped ramp and a riser stretching into standing-room-only allowed lots of audience interaction.”

Additionally, the Cleveland Plain Dealer praised the trio. “Lady A didn’t just hit play on the CD and recreate a note-for-note version of ANY song. Tempo changes, dynamic changes, harmonic changes – all were incorporated, so that old songs sounded new.”

Lady A will be opening the CMT Music Awards tomorrow with a special performance with Hot Chelle Rae. They’re nominated for Music Video of the Year, Group Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year.

Lady Antebellum Raised Big Money For Tornado Victims

Lady Antebellum.

Last night, Lady Antebellum owned the night with a bunch of Henryville, Indiana, high school juniors and seniors at their prom.  Henryville High School was chosen over all other applicants in the Own the Night with Lady A contest the band had earlier this year.  The prize was having Lady Antebellum sing at your prom.

But a concert wasn’t all the city of Henryville received.  Lady Antebellum has been raising money for the city since they heard about tornados.  Through generous donations from thousands of people, a total of $285,000 was raised for the Henryville community.  All proceeds will be distributed through the New Hope/Indiana Bankers Association for the Disaster Relief Fund, according to the band’s website.

Back in early March, a tornado ripped the town of Henryville, devastating the community.  When the members of Lady Antebellum heard about this tragedy, they knew who the winners of the Own the Night contest would be.  Hillary Scott said:

This event started as an idea we had in the studio last year to crash someone’s prom we had no idea at the time it would fill such a need. We are amazed by the support we’ve gotten from our fans, sponsors and the press.  This is one of the proudest moments in our career!

At the event last night, Lady Antebellum gave the students at Henryville High School a private, acoustic performance before taking the stage at the KFC’s Yum! Center in Louisville, KY, in front of thousands of fans.

VIDEO: Lady Antebellum Surprise Fan on Anderson

Lady Antebellum.

It was the surprise of a lifetime for one lucky Lady Antebellum fan on Anderson yesterday. The popular CNN host has created his own daytime talk show, and this time he got country music involved. In the middle of a military wife’s sit-down interview with Anderson, she heard the trio singing the chorus of “Need You Now” and then the fun began.

Check out the video below and let us know how you’d react if this surprise happened to you:

Lady Antebellum Premiering New Single Tomorrow

Lady Antebellum.

GRAMMY-award winning country music trio Lady Antebellum will debut their brand new single tomorrow night on the finale of NBC’s The Voice. The group will perform “Wanted You More” as the newest single off of their “Own The Night” album. The single was sent out to country radio today for airplay, so keep your ears peeled to your local stations and let us know if you hear it!

The song is a co-write by the trio with band members Jason Gambill, Jonathan Long, and Dennis Edwards, along with musician Matt Billingslea. The song’s melody came together during a sound-check on tour and was later fined tuned into “Wanted You More.”

“One of the added benefits of being out on the road so much is the time it gives us during the day to write,” said Lady A’s Dave Haywood. “The three of us love writing together, but it’s always special when something starts organically with the guys in our band.”

Catch Lady A when they perform their new single for the first time on television on NBC’s The Voice. Tomorrow night’s results show for the finale begins at 9 pm EST.
