Exclusive Interview: Introducing Tiffany Houghton

Tiffany Houghton.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with country up and comer, Tiffany Houghton, while she was visiting New York. Upon meeting the Texan talent, she apologized profusely for her “messy” hotel room and excitedly told me about her adventures in the big apple.

Although she may be only nineteen, and technically, a Nashville newbie, Tiffany Houghton has always been driven by her love for music. When I asked Tiffany how she got into performing, without skipping a beat, she responded “Oh, I was born. I’ve always loved music. They say that I could sing before I could talk. I’ve always loved to perform,” She tells us. “I’d get on our kitchen counter and sing to the family. But I really got professionally into music when I was 10 and moved to NY, and did some Broadway and musicals and some acting.”

Lady Antebellum to release Golden on May 7th

Lady Antebellum.

From Good Morning America’s New York City studio this morning, seven-time GRAMMY winning trio Lady Antebellum announced the release of their fourth Capitol Nashville studio album GOLDEN, available in stores on May 7.

Charles Kelley shared:

“This album feels to me like one of those that from start to finish could be a good road-trip record and that’s what we wanted. It’s one of the reasons why the term ‘golden’ was kind of cool. I think about road trips and driving down the road with those little streaks of sunshine popping through the trees, especially at sunset. ‘Golden’…it just gives you this warm, easy feeling.”

Hillary Scott added:

“Writing and recording this record really took us back to when we first met each other. When I first met the boys, we spent a lot of time around the piano at the house they lived in at the time. We didn’t really know each other at all, but there was still some magic and then the harmonies – that’s how it all started – that blend of our voices and that blend of our songwriting craft. So, it’s exciting that even on our fourth record, we can still find that.”

The new album’s lead single “Downtown” already stormed the Country radio charts, becoming the trio’s career highest charting debut. People noted “this preview of Lady A’s next album is slinky, sexy fun…crazy-catchy and downright soulful.”

On picking out the title for their fourth studio album, Dave Haywood said:

“The word ‘golden’ to me conjures up a lot of pictures. In the title track, it depicts driving down the road at sunset but, to me, it also depicts a special time in our career…a ‘golden,’ special time for us. We definitely want to value this time in our careers because it’s such a treasure that we can still sit in a room and write songs together. I personally feel so humbled to still be making records that people are excited to hear.”

Lady A’s previous three studio albums have paved the way for GOLDEN, which follows over 11 million album sales, six career No. one hits and seven GRAMMY awards. Last year alone, more than one million fans in over 11 countries welcomed the ACM and CMA award-winning trio on their headlining tour. Dixie Chicks Replace Lady Antebellum at Craven Country Jamboree

dixiechicks

Organizers of the Craven Country Jamboree thrilled  country fans this week with the announcement of the Saturday headline acts for their 2013 concert – the Dixie Chicks.

When Lady Antebellum was forced to cancel their appearance due to Hillary Scott’s pregnancy, the organizers scrambled to find someone special for the show. “We knew we had to find something extra special to replace Lady Antebellum when the band canceled their summer dates due to Hilary Scott’s pregnancy,” said Kim Blevins, director of marketing. “We are extremely excited that we can offer a taste of country music royalty to the Craven Country Jamboree. And it won’t be a regular show – not only will our fans see Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, the three original members, this is a greatest hits package. The Craven date will be one of the only opportunities fans of the band will have to see them live. This is an incredibly special moment for Chicks fans and the Craven Country Jamboree.”

A Look Back at AMAs Fashion

AMAlogo

This Sunday marks the 40th Anniversary of the American Music Awards, and when we think of decades past, we think of one thing — crazy fashion choices! So, in anticipation of this year’s big show, we decided to do a little fashion policing of our own (sorry Joan), because though the awards are really about the music, the thing that seems to get the most lasting buzz is the red carpet do’s and don’t's!  Below are our staff’s picks for country music’s fashionistas and fashion faux pas in AMA history!
