In case you missed the release of Kristen Kelly‘s brand new music video this week, we have it right here for you to check out. Her powerful new single “He Loves To Make Me Cry” proves that the girl can sing better than most other female artists in the genre right now. The video made its debut on CMT and CMT Pure.
Watch her brand new video below and let us know what you think about Kristen.
Recently named as the newest member of CMT’s NEXT WOMEN OF COUNTRY, which spotlights the next generation of female superstars, Kristen is a Texas-born singer/songwriter who describes her music as “a little more grease than polish,” pairing powerhouse vocals with lyrics that hit home about real life and real emotion. Her brand new single, “He Loves To Make Me Cry,” has been embraced by music critics, including Jon Caramanica of the “New York Times” who raved, “Some singers get by on the strength of their attitude, some on the strength of their songwriting and some on the strength of their voice. Kristen Kelly…has plenty of the first two, but it’s the third that sets her apart.”
On Tuesday, October 30th, the Fourth Annual Opry Goes Pink event will take place. Kellie Pickler (a country artist who has already made a huge impact this year, shaving her head in honor of her friend who was going through chemotherapy to fight her battle with Breast Cancer) will flip the switch on the Opry’s barn backdrop, turning it pink for the night. The show will also include performances by The Farm, Mindy Smith, The Isaacs, Kristen Kelly, Jimmy Dickens, Sarah Darling and others. There will also be activities recognizing breast cancer survivors and the continuing fight against the disease. Five dollars from every ticket sold will be donated to Women Rock For The Cure. You can click here to buy your tickets to this event.
Arista Nashville’s hot newcomer Kristen Kelly will be releasing a self-titled four-song EP on October 30th. The four-track EP will include her current top-thirty and rising single “Ex-Old Man.” The other three tracks on the record are previously unreleased songs written or co-written by the singer.
The EP is a big deal to Kristen, who shares:
“I am so excited to share more of my new music with my fans. This music is a culmination of years of blood, sweat and tears. Every song is a chapter in the story of my life.”
This year, Kristen made history by “Ex-Old Man” becoming the most-added song to Country Aircheck, making it the first time in Country Aircheck’s history that a new female artist’s debut song made the most-added list.

Kristen Kelly released her video for her single, “My Ex Old Man,” yesterday. The video pokes fun at a relationship ending because the husband cheated on her with her best friend. Earlier this summer, the song became the most added song on Country Aircheck, which made it the first time in Aircheck history that a new female artists’ debut single tops the most added list.
“I had a great time working with Anna Mastro on this video,” shares Kristen. “I feel like she ‘got me’ and the true message behind the song. When life brings you a lemon…make some lemonade and add some vodka.”

Arista Nashville artist Kristen Kelly is feeling pretty good these days after making history last week with her debut single “Ex-Old Man.” She put together a web video for her single “Ex-Old Man,” and you can watch it right here on Keepin’ it Country.
Kristen will be releasing her debut Arista Nashville album later this year. Her album is being co-produced by CMA winning producer Tony Brown and two-time GRAMMY award winning songwriter Paul Overstreet. We’ll be seeing a lot more of the Texas native this year, so look out for Kristen! She’ll be performing on the Virtual Opry stage on Brad Paisley‘s “Virtual Reality Tour“.
Arista Nashville’s Kristen Kelly made history today with her debut single. “Ex-Old Man” became the first time in Country Aircheck’s history that the debut single by a female artist topped the most-added list. Her single received 32 total adds this week on both the Billboard and Country Aircheck charts. The real-life song is a co-write by Kristen and Paul Overstreet. It’s a funny little song about a relationship gone bad.
On Saturday, May 5th, the Texas native will be making her Grand Ole Opry debut, which is kind of a big deal for the singer-songwriter:
“Getting the opportunity to play the Grand Ole Opry, if that’s the last thing I do, I would be content. It’s a part of country music history, and knowing that I’m gonna get to be a part of it is just absolutely amazing.”
Her debut album on Arista Nashville is expected later this year. Check out her single here and make sure to let us know what you think.
If you find yourself in the Nashville area at the end of this month, you won’t want to miss this great opportunity to support our fellow country music bloggers CountryMusicIsLove and the City of Hope!
CountryMusicIsLove is proud to announce the 3rd Annual CountryMusicIsLove Concert benefiting City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading research, treatment and education centers for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. This year’s concert will feature acoustic performances by Micheal Ray, Chris Cavanaugh, Kristen Kelly, THE FARM, JT Hodges, Chuck Wicks, Love and Theft, Casey James, and Craig Campbell. Whitney Duncan will do double duty as host and performer for the second year in a row.
The cause hits close to home for many of the artists, including Casey James. “My family has been massively affected by cancer,” James shares. “My Paw-Paw passed away last year from cancer. My Nana passed away from cancer and my mother is a two-time cancer survivor, thyroid and breast. I can go on and on. There’s a large history of that in my family. Anything I can do to help and to do my part to make things better, I’ve always been into doing that, so it was an honor to be asked to come out and play. I’m excited to play the music and come see the fans, but most excited just to be a part of the whole thing.”
The 3nd Annual CountryMusicIsLove Concert benefiting City of Hope will be held February 21, 2012 at 7:30pm at Exit/In in Nashville, Tenn. Tickets are $15 and 100% of tickets sales will be donated to City of Hope. Tickets are available here: http://bit.ly/cmiltickets.
