Kip Moore’s “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” Hits No. 1

Kip Moore.

Singer-songwriter Kip Moore has first No. 1 single with “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck,” which is sitting atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and the Mediabase/ Country Aircheck chart.  “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” reached sales of 500,000 and was certified gold before the April 24 release of Moore’s debut album, Up All Night.  The accompanying video has received more than 7 million views online.

It means everything to me as a writer…It’s validation that all of the years that you kept telling yourself to stick to your guns and stick to what you know, that you are on the right path and doing the right thing and doing what you are supposed to do.  People called me crazy at first because we wrote four verses before we get to the chorus, but I stuck to my guns and said, ‘This is how I am supposed to write this song.’ For this to go number one and the American public to fall in love with this song, that is validation for how I like to write, and that is with no boundaries.

Fans of Moore and “Truck” can see it performed on Tuesday, May 29 on Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends.  They will also be able to catch him with Tim McGraw on Monday, May 28, at a special Memorial Day concert at New York City’s Beacon Theatre during Fleet Week in remembrance and gratitude for service men and women.  The concert will be streamed live via YouTube and to military bases around the world.

Moore will also be at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville on Saturday, June 9, on the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage during the free concerts at Riverside Park.  He will also perform an acoustic set at LP Field during the CMA Music Festival’s Nightly Concerts.

Kip Moore Celebrates Gold Record

Kip Moore.

It’s a big day for MCA Nashville artist Kip Moore. His debut album “Up All Night” is out today, and he’s celebrating the gold certification of his debut single “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck”! It’s a little bit overwhelming for the singer-songwriter, who isn’t quite sure what to say about how big of a moment it is for him:

“I can’t quite wrap my head around what that means,” Moore says of his first gold record. “I had hopes, but I had no expectations, and those are two different things. It caught me off guard because a lot of people have mentioned to me how different the song is as far as its format, having four verses before the chorus. I’m so grateful to my friends at country radio for taking a chance on this song. To see this happening is just a humbling, humbling feeling.”

His single has sold more than 536,000 units alone, and is currently sitting at number nine on the country singles charts and number nine on Billboard’s Top Selling Country Digital Songs for First Quarter 2012. It’s been in the Soundscan Top 10 Digital Core Country Chart for eight consecutive weeks, and the music video has received more than 6 million views on YouTube.

Kip wrote or co-wrote every song on his Brett James-produced debut album.

“I am so ready for Wednesday to roll around!” he jokes about his nervousness. “But I am so excited. It’s really going to throw people for a loop when they get the record. They might have a perception in mind of what it’s going to be because of ‘Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck,’ and I am anxious to see what they think when they hear the depth of this record.”

Kip is currently out on the road with Billy Currington and David Nail. His next tour stop is April 26th at the Salem Civic Center.
