Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw Ready Production for Tour

1303859-kenny-chesney-tim-mcgraw-new-617

What do you get when you mix country mega-stars Kenny Chesney and TimMcGraw with the prospect of a summer stadium tour? It’s quite simple: You get an epic production that will cover over 19,000 miles and 21 stadiums with over 20 buses and 80 tractor trailers.

The “Brothers of the Sun” Tour is ready for its kick off on June 2 in Tampa, Florida and will take the longtime friends, along with openers Jake Owen and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, over 19,458 miles in 88 days by the time the tour wraps on August 25th in Foxboro, MA.

This tour is a far cry from Chesney’s early days. “It doesn’t seem that long ago when it was just 14 of us crammed into a 12-bunk bus we called ‘the iron lung,’ ‘cause it leaked diesel fumes inside the bus,” said Chesney. “There weren’t enough bunks for everybody so we took turns sleeping on the couch and floor, but we were living our dream and having fun. And even though we have a lot more stuff now, we’re still having a blast and just as passionate about playing music and taking it out to the fans, whether it be in a club or stadium.”

“It’s been a lot of fun rehearsing in Nashville, but rehearsals are over. It’s time to pack the trucks and head to Tampa,” added McGraw.  “I’m pretty sure there are towns in Louisiana with smaller populations than we have on our road crew.  It takes a village and a lot of hard work by a lot of people, but I’m just excited for the fans because we’ve got one hell of a show planned for them!”

While on the road, the giant tour crew (283, to be exact) will eat like royalty thanks to a traveling catering staff. In addition to three hot meals a day, each show day will have a “Stage Bar & Grill” that will serve classic BBQ faves like hamburgers and hot dogs on stage from 10am until 9pm. Manning the grills will be random crew members, ranging from the stage manager, various truck drivers and even members of Chesney’s band.

With such a huge production that includes stadium shows on both Saturdays and Sundays, there will actually be two separate teams building and then tearing down the stage over a 91 hour period. This epic set will include an LED video wall with nearly 2,400,000 pixels for sharpness and clarity, as well as 80 strobes and 48 Syncrolites that are placed throughout the stadium to send five foot diameter beams of light crisscrossing the night sky.

In describing this tour, one word comes to Chesney’s mind: passion. “I use the word ‘passion’ a lot because it takes a lot of passionate and dedicated people to make this happen day in and day out,” said Chesney. “And most of the people that were with us a decade ago are still here. We’re a family.”

Kenny Chesney Wraps Rehearsals for Summer Tour

kenny-chesney

In true Kenny Chesney fashion, changes were being made up until the very last note of  Nashville rehearsals for the “Brothers of the Sun” summer tour. The tour will kick off in Tampa Florida on June 2nd and pairs Chesney with longtime buddy, Tim McGraw. “We hadn’t even finished last year’s tour when we started working on this year, and what we visualized 9 months ago is a reality today,” Chesney enthused.

Performing to a lucky crowd comprised of family and music industry friends, Chesney tweaked both the big and small details of the show, ranging from color saturation of video clips to elaborate instrumentation. He also chatted casually with his small audience, sharing tour tales and song stories.

“It’s the fans that make this all happen and we’re ready to let this show loose on you,” said Chesney. “We’re rehearsed and our bags are packed, so get your tailgating ready and we’ll see you in the parking lots and in the stadiums all summer long.”

The ‘Brothers of the Sun’ Tour will focus largely on music, but is also set to be an astonishing audio/visual display. Chesney’s set with feature a plethora of his well-known hits, while also introducing fans to new music from the forthcoming “Welcome to the Fishbowl.”

Kenny Chesney Covers Men’s Health Magazine

kenny

Ever wonder what it takes for Kenny Chesney to maintain his amazing physique? Wonder no more. In the June issue of Men’s Health, Chesney discusses how he prepares for a major tour.

“Growing up in East Tennessee, everything you do revolves around food,” he says. He doesn’t eat many dairy products, hasn’t touched salt in 10 years, hasn’t had bread “in a while.” The country megastar watches what he eats during the week, but allows a “cheat day” on Sunday. Oh, and he can do 300 push-ups in a matter of 10 minutes. All of this for a man who turned 44 on March 26th. Not too shabby.

In addition to eating right and exercising, Chesney has never abused his body with drugs or smoking, but admits to overindulging in alcohol. He adds, “I’ve never abused my body with drugs. I’ve never smoked. But I will say that I’ve probably been overserved a lot. You can’t spend 19 years on the road and not have a few drinks.”

Chesney hits the road in a couple of weeks with Tim McGraw, Jake Owen, and Grace Potter and The Nocturnals on the Brothers of the Sun Tour. The tour opens on June 2nd in Tampa, Florida.

Kenny Chesney’s New Single Released to Radio

Kenny Chesney.

Kenny Chesney fans will soon be getting the chance to hear a new song off his 13th studio album, Welcome to the Fishbowl.  Although the album isn’t due out until June 19, the second single off the album was released today (May 14).  Chesney had this to say about his latest single:

“Come Over” is about two people who are as broken as their relationship is, when they realize deep down that their time together has probably ran its course, but they aren’t really ready to emotionally or physically move on to something else…They keep going back to each other because it’s familiar. It’s about emotionally feeling wanted in a moment, but it feels impossible to let anybody else fill that void. It’s a really sexy song with lyrics that are incredibly universal.

Shaun Silva, a friend of Chesney and the director for the forthcoming “Come Over” video, said that:

”Come Over” is the most intimate journey I’ve captured of Kenny in the 10 years we’ve been making music videos together…It’s clear within the first five seconds of this video that Kenny is committed to his character in the video and was more than willing to open up to the vulnerabilities associated with this tortured love story. The music video was finished in black-and-white, delivering a strikingly timeless and cinematic result.

Fans will get the opportunity to see Chesney perform “Come Over” live at one of the over twenty stops his ‘Brother of the Sun’ tour will be making this summer.  For tickets, visit: tickets.kennychesney.com/

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Ray Gibson

Untitled 3

You read it here first: Canadian singer/songwriter Ray Gibson is an artist that the country music world undoubtedly needs to watch out for.

Hailing from Maple Ridge, Vancouver, this eighteen year old is turning heads with both her originals and covers. She even caught the attention of country superstar Carrie Underwood. The artist posted Ray’s cover of “Good Girl” on her Facebook for all of her fans to see on Ray’s eighteenth birthday – what a great present! If that weren’t enough, the newcomer is working alongside Canadian country artist Aaron Pritchett. The two have been writing together and have recorded videos of them singing some of Aaron’s songs. Ray also won the Carly Rae Jepsen cover contest for her rendition of “Call Me Maybe”.

Her covers range from songs by artists like Adele, Lil Wayne and Katy Perry to Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. Ray’s original songs, such as “Couple More Kisses” and “Barefoot On The Beach” showcase her incredible vocal range and writing talents. Something interesting to note is that this young artist has taught herself to play both the guitar and piano and plays the instruments solely by ear!

Now, this YouTube sensation is starting to write original material and is looking ahead to creating her own record and performing for fans. She will be writing songs in Los Angeles this summer and Nashville in the fall.

We caught up with Ray to talk about her influences, what she loves about the country genre and plans for her future in country music.

Trust us when we say that you won’t be disappointed by this girl’s gift: her voice.

Kenny Chesney Performs for Amazing Race Charity Event

Kenny Chesney.

BNA Records and country music superstar Kenny Chesney performed at the New Orleans House of Blues Saturday night for a special charity event. The Third Annual Amazing Race is the signature event for the Brees Dreams Foundation, an organization founded by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, Britney. The event partnered with actor Matthew McConaughey’s Just Keepin Livin’ Foundation. The performance was a welcome break for Kenny, who explains that he’s been busy getting ready for his new tour the last few weeks:

“We’ve been in tour rehearsals for weeks now so it was great for us to get on stage and feel the energy and feedback from the crowd. Tonight was all about playing music to help celebrate this great event. People in this town love music and helping out their neighbor and I was glad to be a part of it.”

A once-in-a-lifetime moment was auction during the show – $10,000 to sing with Kenny right there on-stage. The winner performed Kenny’s single “Somewhere With You.” That wasn’t the only duet of the evening as Kenny brought Matthew and Drew on-stage to sing “Boys Of Fall” during his final performance. “Boys Of Fall” is Kenny’s tribute to small-town football teams.

All proceeds from the event went towards families in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast to help provide care, education, and opportunities for their children.
