“I wouldn’t necessarily say she is a country artist. I mean, obviously Taylor Swift started in country, but she morphed into somewhat of a cultural icon, so, who am I to judge what she is?”
But he doesn’t have any problems with stars from other genres trying their hand at country. For example, Kelly Clarkson:
“You know, if Kelly Clarkson wants to do country albums because that’s what inspires her, then let her do it. Look at Kanye West or Ludacris … they aren’t rappin’ and cussin’ like they were on their first few albums, so what does that make them? It’s all in the eye of the beholder and the listener. We all use our outlet to grow ourself.”
What do you think? Is Taylor country? Let us know in our poll below and on Facebook:
October is shaping up to be a busy month for Kelly Clarkson. She’ll wrap up her tour with Maroon 5, marry fiance Brandon Blackstock and release her first Christmas album. The pop-country phenom took to Twitter today to reveal the album’s cover, release date and title.
She tweeted: I have been dying to make this album since I was a kid! #WrappedInRed comes out Oct. 29th.
Earlier this year, she revealed that the album would feature collaborations with country royalty, including Ronnie Dunn on the classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” She told ABC News Radio, “He is like one of my favorite voices of all time. He’s so soulful, and that song, if you know Ronnie Dunn, is so his personality. Like, it’s straight up his personality to say all of that to try to get you to stay and have a drink.”
Additionally, she enlisted two country female powerhouses, Reba & Trisha Yearwood to join her on a track. “I can’t believe that Reba and Trisha agreed to do a trio with me on it. So, they’re doing ‘Silent Night,’ and it’s gonna be so epic. I’m so excited.”
We’re excited for Wrapped In Red! Are you?
Nashville drummer, Miles McPherson (best known for his work with Kelly Clarkson and Paramore), was in a serious accident on Friday, August 16th, while he was riding in a golf cart with his wife and friends. Miles was in the driver’s seat of the cart when it flipped over, resulting in serious injuries to Miles’ face, hands, arm, shoulder, and leg. Miles was admitted to the ICU burn unit at Vanderbilt University following the accident, due to severe burns from battery acid, which leaked when the cart flipped. The injuries Miles has sustained could have a lasting effect on his livelihood, as he is a drummer who was about to embark on a tour with Paramore.
Webpages have been set up to show support for Miles and his family at this time. If you are interested in learning how you can help, please visit the website dedicated to Miles, as well as the Facebook page that was created in response to this accident.
We wish Miles a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing this talented musician back on stage in the short-term!
Kelly Clarkson is getting married, y’all, and she wants the world to “Tie It Up” right along with her. Ever since announcing her engagement to Brandon Blackstock last December, Kelly’s been showing the world her softer side. First, she released “Don’t Rush” with Vince Gill and then she went on to release “Tie It Up,” her wedding-themed anthem. The video features Kelly in the role of wedding singer extraordinaire (who just happens to flash that giant sparkler a few times), mixed with wedding videos and fan photos.
Now, it’s time to kick off your shoes, grab a beverage and join her in this adorable celebration of wedding day bliss.

It’s no secret that Kelly Clarkson is one busy lady. She’s planning a tour with Maroon 5, prepping for a wedding to Brandon Blackstock and releasing infectious ear candy with each single. Her latest offering of country confection comes in the form of “Tie It Up,” a twangy tongue-in-cheek ode to courtship and wedding bells.
When she released the single cover, fans wondered who she was actually tied to. Was it her fiance or just some perfectly-manicured hand model? Clarkson revealed yesterday via video that the hand-in-question does in fact belong to her hubby-to-be. Judging from his adorable awkwardness in front of the camera, methinks he’ll be leaving most of the future modeling gigs to his bride.
And while she’s not being adorable in photo shoots, she continues her quest to slay every song you’ve ever heard and make it just a tad bit better. Click to see her become one of Mumford‘s honorary sons on this incredible version of “I Will Wait.”
On Thursday, June 20th, America’s Morning Show hit the airwaves featuring Blair Garner and an all-star cast of country music stars including Terri Clark, Chuck Wicks & Sunny Sweeney. As if that lineup wasn’t big enough, the show’s first interviews included some of music’s biggest names, including Kelly Clarkson, Hunter Hayes and Thompson Square.
Our friends over at America’s Morning Show provided us with all of these great interviews!
Listen here as Kelly Clarkson discusses her lost engagement rings, her new country single and her love for Terri Clark, including some musical confusion and a little bit of singing.
Listen here as Hunter Hayes prepares for a performance on The Today Show, talks about racing cars with Blair and discusses his new re-release Encore and recording with Jason Mraz!
Listen here to hear Thompson Square discussing vocal rest and the #1 party for “If I Didn’t Have You.”
It is no secret that we love Kelly Clarkson, and we’re pretty excited because radio officially played her new country single, “Tie It Up,” today! That means, studio quality audio has surfaced!
The song is very true to Clarkson’s life right now and her upcoming wedding. She will be marrying Starstruck talent manager, Brandon Blackstock, this fall.
“Tie It Up” was co-written with close friend and singer-songwriter, Ashley Arrison, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne. That’s a great songwriting team right there! The song is catchy and fun, and Clarkson’s vocals are always second to none. This is the three-time Grammy winner’s first up beat country single, and what a good choice it was. It has radio hit written all over it.
We are so thrilled that Clarkson is releasing more country music in addition to pop! The single is expected to be released to iTunes and other digital formats on June 25th.
Also, Clarkson is looking for fun wedding photos for the lyric video for “Tie It Up.” Tweet your pictures to @kelly_clarkson with #tieitupvideo. Kelly will be picking her favorites!
And now what we all have been waiting for… listen to “Tie It Up” below:
As we posted yesterday, Kelly Clarkson took the stage at LP Field last night during CMA Fest to world premiere her new single “Tie It Up.” The single art shows her coyly tied to a male companion, while wearing a bridal gown and veil, her real engagement ring on display. On the track, Clarkson mixes her typical powerhouse bluesy rock voice with cute lyrics about tying the knot. The song was written by Kelly Clarkson, Ashley Arrison, Shane McAnally & Josh Osborne.
Give a listen to the song below and let us know what you think! (Personally, we enjoy the “Woo”-s on the chorus!)
