Kelly Clarkson’s Stripped-Down Solo Version of “Don’t You Wanna Stay”

Kelly Clarkson CMA Fest

“Don’t You Wanna Stay” was a mega-hit for Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson garnering massive radio success and awards for their collaboration.

Naturally, the song has become a staple in both Clarkson and Aldean’s sets on tour. Since they both obviously cannot be at each other’s shows every night, Aldean typically sings with a hologram “Kelly” and vice versa thanks to the magic of technology.

But Clarkson has changed things up a bit this tour run. She is currently out on the road with Maroon 5 as part of the Honda Civic Tour (the show is amazing FYI), and is doing “Don’t You Wanna Stay” as a stripped-down solo vocal performance.

She posted a live tour video today and had this to share via Twitter:

@kelly_clarkson: One of my favorite parts of the show is getting to sing “Don’t You Wanna Stay” broken down. :)

Is it even a question how great this version is? Clarkson has been established as one of the best voices in music… ever. It really doesn’t matter what she sings. It’s all just THAT good.

The multi-genre star was also just nominated for two Country Music Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year with Vince Gill.

Kelly Clarkson Readying County Album

kelly clarkson country album

It’s no secret that Kelly Clarkson has become one of country music’s biggest dabblers. She’s been nominated for tons of country awards, including for female vocalist at the last 2 CMA’s, and even won the Academy of Country Music Award for Vocal Event of the Year for “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” She’s BFF’s with Reba, Blake and Miranda and calls Nashville home. She’s released successful collaborations with Reba, Jason Aldean & Vince Gill, and recently rolled out her first solo country offering, “Tie It Up.”  Although the flirty wedding-themed track seemed fitting to her current place in life as she preps to tie the knot, the random release left us scratching our heads as to what it meant.

Well, it looks like ol’ KC has (FINALLY!) opted to take the plunge and record an actual country album. Just this week, she told NY radio station WGNA, “We’ve almost made a whole record.”She’s also mentioned her forthcoming country album at her recent shows as part of her introduction to “Tie It Up.”

Although she may be putting her boots on, she’s not completely ready to hang up her “Since U Been Gone”-esque shoes just yet. “With Jewel and Sheryl Crow, they kinda quit pop and came over the country,” she said. “I love both.”

In addition to this almost-complete country album, Clarkson is finishing up a forthcoming pop album, and will release her first Christmas CD, Wrapped In Red, on October 29th.

VIDEO: Kelly Clarkson – Behind-The-Scenes of “Tie It Up”

Kelly Clarkson - Tie It Up

Kelly Clarkson‘s current country single, “Tie It Up,” is seriously great. If you haven’t stopped by iTunes to grab it yet, you should. You won’t be disappointed.

Written by Shane McAnally, Ashley Arrison, and Josh Osborne, the single gives homage to Clarkson’s story with fiancé Brandon Blackstock and their life right now since they will soon be tying the knot!

Check out a behind-the-scenes video of the making of “Tie It Up.” There is one part where Clarkson is wailing like only she can (approximately 0:28-0:48). The song really showcases her amazing, goose-bump worthy range and pure tone. She’s the vocal queen.

McAnally says in the video, “Isn’t that the best thing you ever heard in your life?” Yes, it is… yes, it is!

‘Reba McEntire: All The Women I Am’ Country Music Hall of Fame Exhibit

assets-images-13-08-Reba_CMHOFExhibit

Reba McEntire.

Her name is synonymous with country music and no one is more deserving of the “Queen of Country” title.

Besides being country royalty, Reba is a star in all entertainment genres: television, Broadway, film… she does it all. Not to mention, she’s also a very successful businesswoman.

That being said, it is only fitting that Reba be honored by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum with her very own exhibit!

As you may know, the exhibit opened earlier this month. It is entitled “Reba: All The Women I Am” and displays memorabilia from her iconic life and career. Awards, performance clothes, childhood achievements, personal possessions, photographs, videos, etc… Reba shared it all and it is on display!

The exhibit runs through June 8, 2014. This is something no fan wants to miss!

Congratulations to Reba on this honor and an incomparable career!

Kelly Clarkson Scraps Big Wedding Plans

kelly-clarkson-600

Don’t worry! Kelly Clarkson is still marrying Brandon Blackstock! However, after spending an abundance of time (that this music industry couple just doesn’t have to spare) on wedding planning, Kelly and Brandon made the executive decision to scrap their big wedding plans and simply elope.

Kelly explained to People Magazine that between her Christmas album, partnership with State Farm, Brandon’s responsibilities as Blake Shelton‘s manager, and the couple raising two children (from Brandon’s previous marriage), there was no time to plan such an extravagant event. The couple intends to exchange vows in the presence of a minister and Brandon’s two children, but will be celebrating with their friends and family at their newly built Nashville home.

Kelly’s latest video for her country single, “Tie It Up,” premiered last week. You can check out the wedding-themed video here:

Kelly Clarkson Promotes Safe Driving

1149027_10151510564141890_130065321_n

Kelly Clarkson recently teamed up with “Celebrate My Drive,” a project created by State Farm to promote safe driving. Statistically, automobile accidents are the number one cause of death for teenagers in North America, and, as such, State Farm seeks to implement safe driving tactics (such as “2N2″, or two eyes on the road and two hands on the wheel) in hopes of saving lives.

“Celebrate My Drive” will up the ante in promoting vehicular safety October 18-26, 2013 when local State Farm agents will host student-focused events across North America. During this time (or commitment period), your community will be encouraged to make safe driving commitments on behalf of your high school. The more commitments made, the better your chances of winning a grant for your high school. And, here is where Kelly comes in … your school even has a chance to win one of two private Kelly concerts! The more commitments made, the better your chance of having Kelly show up at your school to perform just for you and your classmates!

Head over to the Celebrate My Drive website and register your school (if it is not registered already). Then, from October 18-26, spread the word around your community, receive commitments from students, teachers, parents, siblings, and other community members, and Kelly Clarkson just may be coming to celebrate your drive with you!
