John Rich & Friends Benefit Announced

John Rich.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and John Rich have announced the return of the John Rich & Friends Concert. This year’s benefit show will take place on June 5th in Memphis, Tennessee’s Cannon Center. The line-up is a pretty big one, with expected guests Darius Rucker, Kellie Pickler, Big & Rich and Jeff Foxworthy. The event is the kick-off to 2012′s Fedex St. Jude Class golf tournament.

St. Jude is celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this year, and the hospital aims to provide exceptional health care to children who are fighting cancer. What makes St. Jude unique is that they believe that no child or family should have to pay for treatment while battling the disease. It’s something that John believes strongly in:

“St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital holds a very special place in my heart, that’s why I’m excited to kick off the Fedex St. Jude Classic with the John Rich & Friends concert. I don’t know how you could spend your time any better on this earth than to support something like St. Jude. It’s truly God’s work – taking care of them babies.”

St. Jude is planning an entire week of events during the golf classic to help support the hospital.

Country music star Kellie Pickler‘s bucket list got a little shorter yesterday. She took the chance to fly with the United States Army Blue Angels over Tennessee. #7 Pilot Mark Tedrow took Kellie from ground level to 2000 feet in 4 seconds as they left the Smyrna Airport where the Blue Angels will be performing this weekend as part of the Great Tennessee Air Show. Kellie was in the air for more than 45 minutes, and when she finally put her feet back on solid ground she was presented with a lithograph to help commemorate the event with the Blue Angels.

Last Thursday, America had a bit of a shocker as American Idol said goodbye to 5th place country spitfire Skylar Laine.  This morning she made her way to Live! With Kelly in NYC to perform “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You” by Kellie Pickler. Skylar calls her fans “SKOUTLAWS” and Kellie joined in on the fun today on twitter to show her support.

@KelliePickler@SLaineAI11 What a nice surprise…I’m watching @LiveKelly & you just sang my song again! You did GREAT! I’m definitely a “ScoutLaw!” ;)

@KelliePickler: Oh crap! I mean “Skoutlaw!” ha ha!

@SLaineAI11@KelliePickler: I love that song so much! Thank u so much 4 sayin youre a SKOUTLAW! Ur music means ALOT 2 me so thank u 4 bein an inspiration

Perhaps we’ll see Sklyar make an appearance at this year’s CMA Music Festival? Country music showed great support to Idols Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina last year and even though Skylar was voted off in 5th place instead of winning or coming in 2nd, we foresee her as also having great success!

Do you want to see Skylar at CMA Fest this year? Let us know what you think! We here at Keepin’ It Country would love to see her there!

DVR Alert: Kellie Pickler on GAC Day Jobs

kellie pickler review

When you think Kellie Pickler… you think of elephants? That will be the case after this week’s episode of GAC’s “Day Jobs.” Kellie will spend a day in her dream job, which just happens to be an elephant caretaker. Her episode airs tomorrow night at 8 pm EST on GAC.

Kellie and her television crew were given a rare chance to visit the 2,700 acre Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee which is south of Nashville. Kellie feeds six female elephants peanut butter, fruit, and grains.

“If there’s one thing these elephants have, it’s freedom. Everything is free will and that’s what The Elephant Sanctuary is about; elephants are so much like us, it’s really a beautiful thing.”

Just like almost everything Kellie does, this should be entertaining. Catch her episode tomorrow night on GAC. Kellie’s current single, the title track from “100 Proof” is out on radio right now. She’s also up for a CMT Music Video Award for Female Video of the Year with “Tough”, and voting is still on at cmt.com.

Country Cast For “The Big Bang Theory”

March Madness is making me a little, well, a little mad.  It’s now been two straight weeks that basketball has bounced The Big Bang Theory from CBS’ Thursday night lineup.

Along with being a huge fan of country music, I (along with millions of others) am also a big fan of the show.  The cast may be perfect down to the last micro-particle, but I’m going to mess with it anyway with this little “waiting for a new episode” time killer.

I’ve decided to replace the show’s regular stars with country stars who might be good at getting their geek on.  (For those who are old enough to remember it, insert the Folgers Crystals reference here.)  Please know that I’m in no way calling out the coolness of any of the singers included in the casting.  If anything, it should be seen as an honor to be picked for a place in the ultimate geek squad.

Some of the cast members were picked because they kind of look like the originals.  Others were picked because of the attitude they would bring to the role.  One choice is simply for the comedy of forcing this person to play the part.  Will you are agree or disagree with the casting?  Or will you have some ideas of your own?

Brantley Gilbert Added To Road to Ram Series

The Valory Music Co’s Brantley Gilbert has been added to the growing line-up for the special all-star Road to Ram concert series. He joins the previously announced Kellie Pickler to the series and sweepstakes. The Road to Ram Jam, presented by Ram Trucks, features five of country music’s brightest stars and provides fans with the opportunity to win prizes including a trip for two to the invitation-only 2012 Ram Jam concert event in Nashville, Tennessee in December. All five artists will perform at the special concert. The last three artists of the five will be announced as the date gets closer.

“Teaming up with Ram for the Road to the Ram Jam was a no brainer – it’s a great way to reach out to the BG Nation and beyond with some amazing and very cool content. And I get to bring my band to town and rock out at the 2012 Ram Jam with some other great artists,” said Gilbert. “You know the best part is we get to auction off my truck at the end of the year and donate the money to IAVA. How awesome is that? I get to drive an awesome truck and help out with a great cause to support our Troops and Veterans.”

Brantley is giving fans the chance to download his new single “Kick It In The Sticks” after entering the sweepstakes to attend the 2012 Road to Ram Jam. Brantley, as part of the Road to Ram Jam artists, will receive a one-year lease on a 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Truck. The truck, along with the other four artists’ trucks, will be auctioned off in 2013 with all proceeds going towards a charity of the artist’s choice. Brantley has chosen to give proceeds of the 2013 auction to Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). IAVA is the United States’ largest non-profit dedicated to supporting the 2.4 million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

If you’re looking for a fun way to kick-start your weekend, then you might want to tune into NBC’s TODAY Show this Friday, March 23.  We have no idea what topics will be discussed on the show, but we do know this:  Kellie Pickler will be co-hosting.
