Kellie Pickler has been the talk of the week with her Dancing With The Stars win, but she also has recently released her new single, “Someone Somewhere Tonight” with her new label home, Black River Entertainment!
The track was written by Walt Wilkins and Davis Raines, and is Kellie’s favorite song she has released thus far:
“‘Somewhere Someone Tonight’ is such a special song. Honestly, it is my favorite song I’ve ever cut and released to country radio. It’s so real, and it’s so true, and it means something! I think people need to hear it.”

Kellie is currently working on her next album due out in the Fall. We can’t wait for new music from one of our favorites!
Kellie Pickler is the new Dancing With The Stars champion!
Country’s sweetheart and her partner, Derek Hough, took home the Mirror Ball Trophy last night. The pair wowed us all season, and their performances were near perfection on Monday. Their freestyle dance was absolutely stunning and had the ballroom in tears. If you missed it, check out the video below. It’s probably the best dance ever on Dancing With The Stars.
We know Kellie is amazingly talented when it comes to music, but she also has the talent when it comes to dancing. The judges even compared her to Derek’s sister and superstar dancer/country singer, Julianne Hough, during the finale. She truly looked like a professional out on the floor.
On top of her top-notch dancing skills, the genuine personality and classiness that Kellie brings to everything she does was clearly evident every week. People fell in love with her on American Idol years ago, and they got to fall in love with her all over again on Dancing With The Stars.
Congratulations to Kellie and Derek! We’ve always been Team Pickler. The win was very well deserved and we are so happy for you.
While we are at it, let’s take a look at some of our other favorite Pickler dances this season.
Jazz Routine – Week 2:
Rumba – Week 4 with special appearance by Kellie’s husband and songwriter, Kyle Jacobs:
Kellie Pickler competes for the Mirror Ball Trophy tonight on Dancing With The Stars!
Pickler has been impressing us all season with her dance skills and continues to win everyone over with her adorable and genuine personality. The country sweetheart has really perfected her technique over the course of the show, and there are truly times where she seems like a professional dancer. While the competition is tough, she and partner Derek Hough consistently standout to me. Even though the judges generally score the contestants pretty evenly, Kellie seems to be on another level and she is sometimes maybe scrutinized harder than the rest because of her ability.
Pickler will be facing Aly Raisman, Zendaya Coleman, and Jacoby Jones, and the contestants will all perform three dances tonight in hopes of being crowned the winner tomorrow.
Part one of the two-night finale begins tonight at 8/7c on ABC. Tune in and make sure to vote for Kellie!
The American Idol finale was this week where she finished Top 2 and runner up to Candice Glover. Her debut single “All Cried Out” is available on iTunes. Today is her birthday (Happy Birthday, Kree). And earlier, she received some amazing news… she will be making her Grand Ole Opry debut!
The debut will take place on June 4th. Joining Kree on the Opry will be American Idol judge, Keith Urban. Other previous performers announced for that night include: Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler, and Lennon and Maisy from ABC’s Nashville. It sounds like it will be a great show!
The humbled singer was, of course, honored by the invitation:
“I’m speechless. It has been my lifelong dream to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. I am so honored to be invited!”
Congratulations, Kree! We are very excited for you and know you will have a great career. We look forward to following along.
Kellie Pickler has been impressing us every week this season on Dancing With The Stars.
Last night, Pickler again wowed us with a Paso Doble she performed with partner (and one of the best choreographers around), Derek Hough, and special guest, Tristan MacManus. Carrie Ann and Bruno raved about the performance and gave the dance 10′s. Len, however, was on a completely different page finding the routine more focused on showmanship than technique. The vast difference in scoring sparked quite the debate among the judges.
We are of course Team Pickler, but loyalty aside, the trio dance was fantastic and deserved a perfect score. We are with Carrie Ann and Bruno on this one.
It may be hard to believe, but once upon a time, you had to trek down to a record store if you wanted to purchase new music. You’d have to buy a full album and you could only listen to the radio stations that were broadcast in your area. There was no iTunes, no iHeartradio, no Spotify. Heck, there wasn’t even a Napster. Additionally, there were no camera phones, no gossip blogs, no reality television and certainly no Twitter. It’s crazy to imagine a world without all of these things, but once upon a time, it existed.
In that world, it would be nearly impossible for a kid from New York to be exposed to country music. While the mainstream scene was full of Backstreet Boys & Britneys, cowboy hats and boots would’ve seemed out of place. That “country western” music had no place on MTV, no one cared who Shania Twain was dating, and “Amazed” by Lonestar was the most country of country music we’d ever hear.
Fast forward less than fifteen years, and New York now has a country radio station, Taylor Swift‘s rotating boyfriends are national news & it’s no longer unusual for a country concert to sell out Madison Square Garden. Anyone anywhere in the world can go on iTunes to download that oddly catchy “merry go round song” they heard a snip of, and then they can pop on over to Spotify and stream the whole album. The world has evolved through technology, and likewise, so has country music’s role in the mainstream.
Get your DVRs ready, country fans! The always-funny Kellie Pickler will be stopping by the Ellen DeGeneres show today! Kellie Pickler’s drummer, Gregg Lohman, was seriously injured in a car accident involving four cars on Interstate 65 near Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday. He is currently in ICU at Louisville Hospital. According to Nashville TV station WKRN, he is in serious but stable condition.
Kellie shared this statement on her Facebook & Twitter pages:
“@kelliepickler: Yesterday, my drummer Gregg Lohman was in a horrific car accident and is currently in ICU. Gregg is not just my drummer, he is family. I believe in miracles and the power of prayer, so it would mean the world to me, my band, and Gregg’s family if you would please keep him in your prayers. Thank y’all so much. -Pickler”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gregg, his family, Kellie, and the band/crew. We hope Gregg makes a full recovery and will be back behind his drums soon.
We shared the internet buzz with you yesterday, but this morning Good Morning America made the official cast announcement for ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.
The always adorable and fun, Pickler, will be paired with Derek Hough, the brother of another country sweetheart, Julianne Hough. Pickler is the first past American Idol contestant to compete on the show.
Meanwhile, vocal powerhouse and 5-time Grammy winner, Judd, will be partnered with Tony Dovolani.
It should be an entertaining season for country music fans. Both pairs are a great match, and I can’t wait to watch!
