Keepin’ It Country’s CMA Predictions

Blake-Miranda-CMA-predictions

The CMA’s are upon as once again, so the Keepin’ It Country Staff narrowed down our picks for the night’s biggest awards. Let us know who you agree with!

Entertainer of the Year Nominees: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift

Nicole: It’s not an easy choice here, and there’s definitely the obvious inclusion of George Strait for sentimental reasons, but I have to give this to Blake. He played a huge summer tour, anchors the judging panel on The Voice season after season and put out quite a few huge hits. He’s arguably the biggest thing in country right now so I have to give it to him.

Jessica: Luke Bryan has had a huge year, and I think he’s taken one of the top spots in country music right now. You can’t deny those dance moves!

Jennifer: Luke Bryan – With sold out shows across the country and yet another #1 hit song (despite Zac Brown’s disdain for said song), no one is killing it on radio or on the road quite like Luke.

Jeanna: Blake Shelton or Taylor Swift? Both have really helped broaden the country music audience and impact the genre in such a significant way. Taylor is massive with her sold out tours worldwide and cross-over success. Blake is the face of the genre at the present time, and he has helped put country on the map and bring it to focus with The Voice. Luke Bryan had a big year and is a possibility too. However, I feel like it’s Blake’s time for this right now so I’m giving this one to him.

lady-antebellum-compass-cover-artwork

As was recently anticipated on Twitter, Lady Antebellum announced today that they will be pushing back the beginning of their Take Me Downtown Tour until January 10, 2014. The mega-trio posted on their website:

We hope you are loving “Compass” as much as we are. We’re really excited about the Deluxe version of GOLDEN coming out in November and all the events and performances we’ll be doing around its release, but we’re most excited about getting to play this new music live for you!

To accommodate the new release and in order to give you guys the best show possible, we’ve had to move things around on our tour schedule. The 1st leg of the TAKE ME DOWNTOWN TOUR with Kip [Moore] and Kacey [Musgraves] will now kick off on Jan. 10th in Peoria, IL. We hope these changes aren’t too much trouble for you, and that we’ll get to see you in one of the more than 60 cities the tour will hit next year.

Check back here for more info on the rescheduled dates…we’ll be posting updates frequently and be in touch a lot over the next few weeks. We are sorry for the inconvenience, we love you guys, and we’re excited to see you on the road!

Kacey Musgraves to perform Blowin’ Smoke on Leno

Kacey Musgraves.

Mercury Records singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves will perform current single “Blowin’ Smoke” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Friday, July 26 (11:35pm PT-ET/10:35pm CT).

“Blowin’ Smoke,” written by Musgraves, Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, follows up previous Top 10 hit “Merry Go ‘Round” and has been described by Billboard Magazine as “a swaggering barroom singalong that proves she has versatility to match her sentimentality.”

The official music video for “Blowin’ Smoke” was shot in LA by director Honey (Kings of Leon/Ke$ha) and has over 1.1 million views to date. To view the video, click here.

Musgraves’ major label debut album, Same Trailer Different Park, was recently selected by Rolling Stone and the Los Angeles Times as a Best Album of 2013 (Mid-Year Report).

Kacey Musgraves talks makeup with Self Magazine

Kacey Musgraves.

Rising country star Kacey Musgraves has a brand new interview in Self Magazine. In the July issue she discusses makeup and her own beauty tips. She’s been performing on-stage since she was 8 years old, so we’re pretty sure she knows what she’s talking about.

One of the tips she shares is to do your eyes first so that way your eyeshadow doesn’t fall all over your foundation.

Check out the rest of her tips online on Self Magazine’s site, and don’t forget to pick up a copy! It’s on  store shelves right now.
