EXCLUSIVE: J.T. Hodges Reacts To ACM Nomination

J.T. Hodges

Showdog-Universal’s J.T. Hodges found a small window during writing sessions today to give us a call to share his excitement over being nominated for the semi-finalist round of the Academy of Country Music’s New Artist Of The Year. He’s one of eight semi-finalists vying for both fan and industry votes to make it to the final three nominees at the April 1st award show. Voting for the New Artist Of The Year semi-finalists is open now at VoteACM.com until January 30th.

The down-to-earth singer was shocked that he was up for the award, having only one single under his belt so far. See what J.T. had to say exclusively to us below:

JT Hodges Reacts To ACM Semi-Finalist Nomination

JT Hodges.

Showdog-Universal’s rising star JT Hodges found himself part of the eight ACM semi-finalists for New Artist Of The Year today. The singer will be competing for both fan and industry voting for the final three nominations. The fan voting starts Monday, January 16th at 9 am EST and will continue on through to January 30th at noon EST. The final three nominees will then go against each other for the award through both fan and membership voting once again.

JT was pretty excited about being named one of the semi-finalists this morning by the Academy of Country Music:

“This is a true honor not only for me but my fans,” said Hodges. “Thank you to the Academy of Country Music for the nod.  Although I’m the obvious underdog, I feel like I’ve won just by being recognized.”

JT will petition for fan voting on January 16th with a live Facebook chat at 7 pm CST. Fans can enter the chat on Monday by visiting JT’s official Facebook fan page or his UStream page. To vote for JT, or any of the other nominees, fans can visit VoteACM.com on Monday to cast their votes.

Country Star Scheduled For Knee Surgery

J.T. Hodges

Showdog-Universal’s JT Hodges may have to make a little adjustment to his shows later this year. He announced to Taste Of Country that he’ll undergo knee surgery to fix an unstable knee he had toured with all Summer. His ACL has been bothering him since his athlete days in high school.

“Ex-athletes never want to show weakness by talking about their injuries,” Hodges tells Taste of Country, clarifying that it’s a manageable pain for the time being. “It’s not really in pain, but my knee is just unstable. I toured all summer with it, and now with things winding down, I figured it was good to get it over with before it gets any worse.”

JT doesn’t expect to be down for long, with a new single planned to be released in January. He promises fans that he’ll find a way to still perform:

“If I have to go onstage on crutches, I will!” he says with a laugh.

We wish JT a fast recovery!

Toby Keith gets Locked and Loaded in Tampa

Toby Keith.

Toby Keith brought his ‘Locked and Loaded’ tour to Tampa, Florida on Friday, October 14th. It was his second to last U.S stop of the tour. He’ll be taking a few weeks off and then heading over to Europe to, “Show them how we do it American style.” The Tampa show was everything you’d expect from a Toby Keith show. There was the pit, where fans were able to be as close as possible to each performer and as for the other seats, well, there wasn’t an empty seat at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre and during Toby’s set, no one used their seat anyway.
