DVR Alert: Josh Turner To Co-Host TODAY Show

Josh Turner.

Looks like country music is taking over NBC. Josh Turner will be co-hosting the TODAY show with Hoda Kotb in the forth quarter of the national morning show at 10 am EST. Josh will be celebrating the release of his new single “Time Is Love,” which is currently number 23 on the Country Billboard charts this week.   It’s also one of the fastest-rising singles of his career to date. Josh will talk about his new album, new single, songwriting, family, and more with the TODAY show host.

“I’m looking forward to co-hosting again with my beautiful Egyptian goddess!” says Turner. “It’s always a blast for me.”

Monday is going to be an even bigger day for Josh. GAC will be premiering his brand new music video for “Time Is Love” at 10 am EST / 9 am CST.

Jonesing For Some Josh? Take A Turner Double Shot!

Josh Turner.

Fans wanting to see some new Josh Turner will have to wait a little while longer.  His next album, Punching Bag,  isn’t due out until later this year.  His next tour date?  That would be next Friday and it would be helpful for you if you lived near Harris, MI (where he’ll be for back-to-back nights).

But there’s hope, my Josh junkies!  He finished shooting the video for his song “Time Is Love.”   We can’t see the video yet, but if you’re really jonesing for some Josh, here’s a double shot of preview pics:

The above pic shows Josh at the video shoot with the director (Peter Zavadil, 2nd from the left with the glasses) and various management and executive types (No offense folks!).  The video was shot in Nashville on Feb. 7 and is the ninth music video for the MCA Nashville recording artist.  The below pic is a still that Josh (or his people) were nice enough to share on his Facebook and Twitter pages.

“Time Is Love” hit radio late last month and has already climbed to #36 in the latest Mediabase chart.

Keeping Up With Casey: Album Release and Opry News

casey james

This week is shaping up to be a very big and busy one for Casey James.  Today we learned that his self-titled album will be released on March 20.  It’s the debut album for the American Idol alum, who took third place in show’s ninth season.  “I’m excited to be releasing my debut album,” Casey shared on his website. “I’m thankful that I had the freedom to make the record that represents me as a musician and singer-songwriter.”

To say that James was an active participant in the creation of his album is an understatement.  Along with the singing, he also played both the electric and acoustic guitar throughout.  And then there’s the songwriting aspect.  He co-wrote nine of the album’s eleven tracks.  One of those tracks, “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night,” is currently at #33 on the Mediabase chart.

Josh Turner Releasing New Music In New Year

Josh Turner.

Multi-platinum country artist Josh Turner will be releasing some new music in the new year! His debut single “Time Is Love” from his still-untitled fifth album on MCA. The single, co-written by Tom Shapiro, Tony Martin and Mark Nesler, will go for adds to radio on January 9th. The single will be available for purchase on iTunes tomorrow, December 20th.

“This song grabbed me from the first listen because it has such an infectious melody and lyrically it really tells a message that I have been wanting to say for a long time,” he says. “It’s not about quality time but quantity time and taking the time to get to know the person better and develop a relationship with that person.”

Josh, one of country music’s most consistent hit makers, has a knack for choosing some of country music’s hottest and most popular singles to record. “All Over Me,” the second single from his latest album “Haywire,” was awarded BMI’s 2011 “Song Of The Year” and was one of ASCAP’s “Top Five Most Played Songs Of 2011.” His previous single, “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” was a four-week number one single and the most-played song in 2010 according to Mediabase.

The South Carolina native has four number one singles under his belt – “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” and “All Over Me.” He’s sold over two million albums and has been nominated for two GRAMMY awards in the past, along with several nominations for the Academy of Country Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards, Country Music Television Awards, and the American Country Awards.

Josh Turner Lends a Hand for Storm Victims

Josh Turner.

Josh Turner reached out to help the victims of a EF-4 tornado that had ripped through the community of Ringgold on April 27th, 2011. He held a benefit concert to raise money for the students and families effected by the powerful storm. The “After The Storm: Coming Together Benefit Concert With Josh Turner” raised over $100,000 for the community.

Turner also took a tour of the damaged town before he performed later that night. The tornado destroyed over 50% of the homes in the community, leaving more than half of the population homeless. Nine people had lost their lives in the storm, two of which were students at the Ringgold High School. The high school and a middle school both suffered major damage and are needing to be rebuilt before students can move back in to their schools. While insurance is paying for the schools, no equipment, textbooks, or athletics are covered by the insurance companies.

Turner dedicated “The Answer” to the students and the entire community. Final numbers are not yet in, but early estimates are over $100,000 raised at the benefit.
